It is mistake in WT. You don’t get this choice, because you took right decision to help Chandy. Chandy will help you, without any “deals” therefore and you don’t need to deal with Josh. You already handled him in Ep.3."you'll get a scene with a call from Chandra: this will play in two different ways depending on whether you picked 'Yes' when Chandra offered the MC a deal in v1.0.5, if you did the MC will track Josh in the den and you'll get the options"
That's what it says on the walkthrough. It's been too long for me to remember what deal she offered. Apparantly I turned it down cus I didn't go find Josh... whoever that is...
Can anyone please jog my memory? Who is Josh and what deal was offered by Chandra?

DA took a while to get going, IMHO. Most of the girls only displayed their depth much later in the game, and there was a big emphasis on cramming lewd scenes in at the start when they didn't make much sense (Carli's introduction being the prime example). Luckily for us it eventually found its rhythm and managed to combine good character work, plot and enticing sex scenes that really leveraged the noir theme to tell a memorable story.Really, Halfway House is that good? I remember trying it at some point, but it didn't take me long to decide that the people barely acted like people (though come to think of it, maybe it was just the one character...). But I like your taste, so maybe I'll give it a proper shot.
I'd personally squeeze 'Zanith' and 'Mutt & Jeff' into that list, though.

So, on the subject of writing and Depraved Awakening, I felt DA had way less weight behind the characters because everyone seemed to take everything so well in stride. Like, "Oh no, this is terrible, literally traumatic!" at first, and then the scene would quickly transition to "Oh well, let's bang, wanna try anal?" or something equally tone-deaf. I'm exaggerating because I can't actually recall any of the scenes that made me feel that way, but to me it did feel like the characters were somehow very detached from everything going on around them (unlike in CoBD), which makes it especially odd to me that people in here seem to go nuts about Carli.
Philly completed 77 static renders and 3 animations this week. His overall average is now 76 statics and 2.5 animations per week. Visually, it looks something like this:

Dev Update #86
Another productive week on all fronts. Here is where we stand. Render count is doubled from last week up to 152 renders. There are also 3 more animations moving that to 5 with another getting setup to run for the rest of the day. A few more scenes have also been written as well, keeping that in line with everything else.
The May custom poll featuring Ellen is also out, so for ghost tier and up remember to cast your vote(s). I will start that as soon as the scene I am currently working on is complete. I suspect that will be around Wednesday or Thursday.
Past that I will keep this one short and sweet. You guys enjoy your weekend and remember to give your Mom's a call tomorrow.
As always, stay awesome!

In my opinion, Carli's opening scene is the prime example of how you can show sex scenes from the very beginning of a game that are meaningful to the story and don't fuck up or dilute your relationship with the girl involved. I do wonder if that's part of why Philly doesn't have as large a following as he probably should. While DA was well made, noir is not a major niche these days (certainly not in comparison to college hijinks), and cyberpunk is probably even less mainstream. Since Philly puts so much emphasis on the world and themes, I can see why people less interested in the story might gravitate towards more easily digestible works. Their loss, though.

Huh, I disagree on Carli completely. Carli's opening scene is so disconnected from her later characterization that I think it could be removed and the game would be the better for it. Carli's role as Stella's friend is significant, but her role as a hooker is only briefly relevant (and in a way that doesn't make a lot of sense) and vanishes entirely by the end of the game.In my opinion, Carli's opening scene is the prime example of how you can show sex scenes from the very beginning of a game that are meaningful to the story and don't fuck up or dilute your relationship with the girl involved. The same happens with Chandra and Ellen (especially Ellen) in CoBD.
Dragging out the appearance of sex scenes in a porn game because you don't know how they'll make sense is a sign of bad writing, lack of imagination, milking, or all the aforesaid.
In retrospect, the first half of DA was quite weak both render and storywise. It seemed interesting, and since I really like the noir genre I got hooked right away. But the game really started picking up during the last months of development, so I can see people playing the game at its early stages and no following its development any longer. As you said, their loss.
Carli and Victoria are Philly's best characters. Complex, intelligent, stacked... Every man's dream.
