Call me with horrible or shit taste or whatever, but for a very simple reason I prefer this game over the other game that will not be named. Simply put because I prefer a porn VN with a shit inchorenet story that does not take itself too seriously with hot scenes than a porn VN which tries to pretend it is some form of high literature or a drama hbo series, inserting forced conflicts, drama and pretentious issues while forgetting its a porn game.

I would rather close my mind and fap to a simple story than go through a melodrama just to reach some hot scenes.

Just got done with my first walkthrough playthrough. Still kinda formulating my thoughts on it and will probably do at least one more playthrough before I do a review. I will say that although it has some problems it was a very entertaining game, at least by playing the path of the walkthrough. Im not sure it deserves the static it gets in this thread. There are much, much worse games in this particular genre.

I think the problem is that, though this game was at first just a copycat version of the "Unmentionable" game, it was fun to play. Season 1 was unpretentious but, if it lacked originality, it was well-rounded and concluded nicely at the end of the homecoming; and season 2 wasn't that great but at least improved sexually and wasn't boring. But then comes season 3 with this totally forgettable script that not only deviates from the plot but it's not even entertaining storywise or sexually -- I'm staying with Chloe in a hotel room and I only banged her once!!! (And the same goes in the Riley route...)
Thus I think the static it gets is due to this: it annoyed who was playing it before. The other college-themed games, as bad as they can be (and I'm not generalizing... there are really good ones too), were what they are since the beginning and, because of this, they didn't annoy their audience. Who liked stayed and those who didn't don't even follow their thread or play it anymore to bother leaving disappointed comments in their threads.

I really enjoyed playing the first season, the second one was just good enough to keep me interested, and season 3 was a huge disappointment (let's pray for Amsterdam to save the day!) That's why I complain a lot. I've played other college-themed games that are far worse from the beginning, but since I never had any expectations about them, I can't even bother to visit their threads to waste my time leaving annoyed comments about them. I don't think this would even be polite -- which is not the case here because, though it may be useless or a hopeless cause, I really wish this game could be back on track.

I think vonmott hit the nail on the head. College Kings is great if compared to 95% of the other 'games' in the genre. But it has massively fallen off since Season 1 and even since Season 2. The fans are disappointed. The writing and story direction suck, the sex scenes are meh. It went from a fun and promising rip to... ugh. I was hoping it would turn around 3-4 episodes ago, but it just keeps trudging along. The whole murder mystery thing was pretty fun and interesting. Everything else? Good luck, CK. We're rooting for you, but is the story even salvageable at this point?

That's why there are mods and walkthroughs to make it much easier. I wish there's something like a relationship interface to show the points accumulated over time between MC and each character.

man just a simple interface or pop-up menu would be amazing. But knowing this game it would introduce a whole new game-breaking bug that is in for several updates. And if there were something like that then a lot of the head-scratching moments in the game would be even worse. What would happen if you were like a 10/10 with ex gf and 0/10 with every other character and you still get that scene in the park? Or when Charli calls you a motorboating gigolo and you're 10/10 with Chloe and 0/10 with everyone else. Asking this game to provide basic functional improvements is like asking someone to laso mars.

You wont see me argue with the fact CK is pretty much shovelware at this point. Up until the homecoming event it was somewhat of a poor man's (game that cant be name for some reason), but at least it did seem like it was trying its own thing with the fighting frats and the combat system at least, despite even that being inspired "somewhere else". Everything after that is a mess, the plot went to the toilet, the relationships are all over the place and all it takes is the right alignment, the bugs continue and the fighting system saw exactly 0 improvements. Actually, nothing got improved over the course of 4 or 5 updates... even the renders are becoming ever more lazy with clipping and random clothes changing on the same scenes. Steve at this point only cares about shoving more updates out the door since he got enough patrons not to care about the quality of the product... which makes me sad because he only started this project barely a year ago and much better devs that do this for years, with much more effort and quality, and dont get 1/3 of his patrons.

Yeah I've seen some really impressive games with 8-page forums and 6 reviews. People keep saying that Seve got a team and it all went to shit. If that's the case, that's still on Steve. If he can't manage this project in a way that keeps it coherent then I would hate to have him as a manager in the cooperate world. Does he have writers? Because I don't think they communicate if he does. The art is okay but I hate most of their faces honestly, especially the guys. I think the best male render is Charli, and that makes him so much more annoying to me. This whole project has been derailed and it's a shame if it's just because Steve is a greedy fuck. An untalented one at that.

I mean, we already have porn for that. Regular, old, non-interactive porn. Moving images and sound, no reading required. If you aren't leaning into the genre's unique strengths, what's the point?

Also, I've yet to see a VN game that was well animated but wasn't also written well. Becoming at least competent at writing is a much more attainable bar than learning the basics of decent animation, let alone good animation. Which again brings me back to, if the game isn't well animated, why not just watch actual porn rather than CGI barbie dolls grind awkwardly against one another?

There's one scene with her right at the end of the current chapter, as long as you play your cards right. It's currently unknown what form of relationship it might develop into beyond that. You can still get this scene while with Chloe, although presumably that will not be without consequences down the line.

Also I wanted to know, why does none of the pledges ever represent their fraternity? Like literally the only time we see the MC in the wolves or Ape jacket is when we gets initiated, after that he never wears it again... Like in Being a Dik the MC wears his Dik jacket most of the time.. Im sure it's not hard to do the same in college kings, I mean what's the point joining a frat when we can't even represent
