The best metaphor I can muster based on what you said, would be that Come Inside is that "girlfriend" that never shows up and always makes excuses, but people get so obsessed with her to the point that they become too afraid to let go in case she would eventually give them more than nude pictures.

ttll If your game is narratively intense why not release it in a text style like that game(seeds of chaos) with blank scenes or maybe only include the important renders that are necessary for the narrative then later add the rest of the CGs when they are complete.

So what you are saying is the dev should release a 'dialogue only' update, but i'd assume people only play this game for the amazing render quality and we will still be waiting over a year for each update.

Let's be honest - there are tons of games with amazing-unique-marvelous-etc renders, but there's only a few games that present players with a real "story", and CI is one of such games (because instead of a usual cheap porn-plot it presents players with a psychological drama about two broken people). If this game was a text-only, it still would've been amazing.
And so, gonna fix it for you -

Since patreon rewards include wallpapers in 10$+ tiers, and author makes ~1200$+ per month with ~140 patrons, it's safe to say that majority of them are mostly there for these wallpapers he makes.
