The image above is a testing, it took me 21 minutes IN TOTAL to make both of them.
What do you think? Do you like it? It's a 3D render.
## 3D stuff
I talked about it months ago, about 3D.
After last month and seeing the trouble I've had with creation process, eyes burning, back hurting, arm hurting (I know, I'm not the one that can complain the most about my situation.) I was thinking what I could do to make the work faster, but without downgrading the results.
By watching the series "Arcane", that I loved, I noticed how they painted over the 3D models, then I wondered if I could do the same, or get inspired by it.
I did a brain storm with myself and wrote all skills I have, softwares and assets I have, and what I'm able learn quickly.
I already know 3D manipulation with Daz 3D from past games, I can draw, and I also have 2D render asset that I already use to make backgrounds, however this asset was ugly on a character.
I'm confident enough with my skill to be able to learn 3D sculpt quickly. Of course
I'm not that crazy, I started from the genesis 8 base from daz, and then Import into blender to sculpt using it as a base, it was the first time I used blender so I had to learn interface for my use at least.
Then, I sculpted over the genesis 8 model from daz and learn how to play with import-export on Daz, rigging and stuff. I also learned my 2D render asset to find good balance with parameters for the shading.
Then the arcane idea,
I draw lines and some shading on the skin texture and it cumulates with the 2D shading simulation.
After that, I learned to make clothing fit, with a clothing simulator, and convert into a prefab.
Then, I was like "Why not creating the true clothing & hair of the girls? I had prefab that looked alike for Emma's skirt, but for the rest I wanted to sculpt everything myself.
Sculpting hair was also funny haha! I also learned to put bones on the hair to make it able to move.
Honestly, I freaking love to sculpt, as much as drawing! Maybe even more.
So,
it took me 1 week to learn everything I needed for my plans (I started in March)
and to create these two models. I make a pause now, as I mainly need Emma for now.
About the image above, what I did is a 2D render of the 3D model, and just added few more lines, lights & other minor stuff.
Emma's abs are not edited, it's the raw render, looks dope
(lines are drawn on her skin texture)
The renders took 1 minute each, and then 20 minutes to edit, as a testing. ( & I took my time)
Consider that it's my first experience of sculpting and doing the global process I thought in advance, so there is a big room for improvement.
The same way CwG if my first experience of drawing intensely, for a project.
"Will CwG become a 3D game then?"
No, but still a bit.
I will use more of this setup, I like the result. I can't switch completely to 3D though, because I won't change graphics in the middle of the game, it would be weird.
However, it may not be impossible that future games will be closer to 3D, I mean this 3D above, with less redraw.
Imagine the possibilities, I could make epic videos with camera travelling, create 3D animations (With similar moves to my 2D animations I can now sculpt their morphs and not "just" posing them.) Also, I could create animations, use it on someone and imports it with 1 click and just eventually modify it.
Could make tons of scenes a lot easier.
I could still draw effects over it, it's 2D render and not 3D render so I can easily edits things by my hands.
I could progress like 2 times faster, and create 2 times more. Maybe more than 2 times, idk.
Of course all of this is only if I can make something gorgeous, or I won't do it.
3D fits a lot more how I like to work, I create things just 1 time and then I just have to pose and I can move on faster, like I used to do on Harem Island, but with better experience and almost no rendering time.
Drawings... I can draw faster, but drawing from scratch on every drawing, spend hours on a drawing that appears 3 seconds... Hum. It's cool punctually but it's not that cool when you have to make a big number of drawing all the time.
If I go this way, it's not to rush things for the players/patrons, it's 100% because it fits better how I'd like to work, with results that I also enjoy. And I'm pretty much picky with it.
## Progression
I prepared the exacts events to create, I'm starting to write them. I'm glad I can finally reveal about something about the beginning of the game
Now that my models are done, I will be able to quickly pose models in the house!
## My own state
Damn... I haven't eaten for 3 days lol... (Literally 72h)
I have a... Problem on my face since 4 days, I wasn't able to eat anymore, It was hurtful as fuck... I won't give details but it's a problem on my mouth x)
So I didn't not eat for 3 days to let it heal quicker (Yes I was learning 3D during that time, not time to eat = more time to work) I was just drinking water, and pills for minerals, vitamins, & important things.
I'm not dead at all, I was just a bit more "slow".
Today, I ate strawberries (Goddamn it hurts to move the lips) and oh my gosh it was so tasty and good
It relaunched the pain for hours after that (But less painful than at the beginning, curing process has progressed a lot) so I think I will wait 2 more days before eating again. (I could drink smoothies however drinking something other than water would mean I have to brush teeth, and it's painful as hell)
I mean I know some people told me "how can I do that?", well I already had some experience of many days without eating so I know how my body react and it's not "that hard" for me. Don't worry
Thank for reading this entire novel, see you!
