With all the rerenders and such, is it going to be better to just restart the game, or is it fine if I just continue from where I left off from the last version (if that'll even be possible)?

Way I see it, if the early renders are really rough and noticeably worse than later updates, you might want to think of redoing them at some point. Take Midlife Crisis for example, Nefastus acknowledges that the early renders are rough, tht he's learning still a programmer and that eventually he might get around to fixing them. And he makes fun of his limitations which adds a lot to the humour of the game. He just concentrates mostly on getting updates out and telling his story.

If I had any minor complaints about Connected, the quality of the renders was never among them though. If I could compare it to a wholy different industry, think about those car restoring/pimping shows. They're always revamping, remodeling, and improving older cars, you never see them tackle a Lamborghini Aventador or a Bugatti Veyron. They know better than to tinker with something that is already close to perfection.

Sometimes you just have to take that car for a ride and see where the road leads you.

Nah, you’re gonna wanna start new. Theres quite a bit added and changed to Chapter 1 specifically so you’re gonna wanna see it all.

Plus I’m starting clean on a new renpy engine so your saves won’t appear in the files anyway. This is due to an error some have had with the saves when ch 3 dropped and I couldn’t locate the problem. Plus an ongoing bug where you’re in the main menu in preferences or something and the “return” button does nothing.

This won’t be a habit though. As ToeSucker1974 made clear to me, I just need to write wtf I wanna write without putting unnecessary amounts of criticism on myself and in my work and that’s what I intend to do. After I revamp this, it’s full steam ahead, imperfections and all.

I will say though, even though the revamp retreads familiar territory, I’d say the look of it and the dialogue are different enough to feel like legitimate “new content”, so it should be worth it by the time it’s here.

I eagerly awaiting the revamp and future updates. Your work is definitely one of these that is worth the wait.

Oh, 1 bug I encountered if I remember correctly is the MC name not appearing properly in some conversations. It shows as "character name" or something instead of the name I chose.

That I fixed. It's just the bug fixed version wasn't uploaded here and it currently makes no sense since everything will change.
Not to drive you crazy by asking... (too late) but do you have any idea when we may see the rework? Not a specific date but month, 2 months?

I don't mind. It's not being asked 3 times every page like some of the more popular games lol.

Short answer: No, not really.

Long answer: I was actually thinking hard about this over the weekend. During the work I was doing over night, I thought to myself, "what if I release just the first chapter of the rework like a regular update and go from there?" since it's essentially new content, even if it treads familiar ground.

I considered making a poll about it, but I said to myself that it had to be an internal decision to make. I asked for my friend's opinion and he said to just release the revamp as I normally would, instead of trying to get out all 3 chapters at once cause we both know I struggle with high workloads. If I do it this way, the work is divided and would I feel fairly confident that I can have something out probably by mid or late September if everything goes smoothly.

If I choose to release all 3 chapters of the revamp at once, then there would be no accurate release date. I wouldn't even really be confident about an update for the rest year if I do it like that.

So I'd say expect revamped ch 1 by the end of September. But this isn't an official statement. It's just a rough estimate.

Thank you and I hope you know that I'm here for the long haul. That said there are people who are more impatient. If you release one chapter at a time I think that would be best. There are a couple other games I follow that are doing the "rework one chapter at a time" idea.

Just as long as you don't release and go "wait, I should have!"

Just played this for first time and loved it.. not just because of the usual, nice renders, models, animations etc. but because of the writing and the eye to detail, it also manages to sidestep all the usual porn tropes like perverted MC. The eye to detail is what got me though, even down to the pet dog. Will drop a review at some point, prolly after next update or when chapter 3 is finished. Good job. Keep it real, like it is and don't fall into usual porn tropes and traps would be my advice, not that it is worth much.
