I am surprised that, there aren't any theories here, which suggest that Jenny did not actually cheat. I was playing the game again from the beginning today and that was certainly my impression. asked myself how i missed it.
It is quite clear she did IMO. Jenny was worried that Edward wasn't serious with her (mostly fairly). Asshole friend probably fed her insecurities, telling her bullshit about how Edward doesn't like her blah blah blah.

Thanks to asshole's friend good work, she probably started to resent Edward, then hated and wanted revenge him hence her evil smile when he came back, then reality hit her and she realized what she did.

If he caught them cheating, she probably should have looked scared or embarrassed.
That was my thinking exactly. That and the fact that cunnilingus requires a closer proximity of the mouth to the targeted area and most commonly done without panties. And lastly, from what I saw, Jenny did never liked the best friend and denied all his advances. Also Edward said in the flashback something along the lines, Jenny saw him as a child or something and didn't respect him. I don't know. Maybe I interpret everything wrong. But it is also possible that Edward did.

But that's the distinction you keep making though. Story and dialogues without much sex, or sex without story. And appreciation of the story seems to hinge on how extensively certain fantasies play out within the story rather than quality. Hence, the number of words. Not that there's anything wrong with enjoying that on its own terms, without needing to give it value by disparaging other porn games. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I said I didn't like meaningless porn wrapped in an AVN cover. I never claimed that the more words in dialogue and narration, the better. Wait, are we arguing about my preferences now?

And when someone starts talking about the quality of the story, I just shrug. What are the metrics of story quality? Are they universal, for all types of stories? What about personal preferences, or do the metrics not depend on them? What if for me the main factor of story quality is, for example, presence of drama and emotional depth of the narrative. But what about those who prefer light comedies and consider good humor as the main metric of quality? Will they consider the stories I like to be quality?

Anyway, this is way off topic. So if you want to discuss how awesome the recent Corporate Culture update is, I'm your guy, otherwise I think we should cut this discussion. At least I will.

This update really depressed me, I had the impression we will start chasing Elsa from now on and she will not be easy to catch. I really hope that in a couple of updates we will start to get something out of her, and I don't mean her background, I mean her feelings towards the MC.

Any chance that the protagonist will realise that he's a patient at a mental asylum anytime soon? It's either that or Elsa is his imaginary friend.

Wow this thread just devolved into arguments, can everyone just agree to disagree? I like this VN, and I like it for different reasons that I like other VNs, its ok if you dont like this one, no one is suggesting you are stupid or lesser for not liking it

I like the writing generally, but man, the MC is just irredeemable and at the rate he's going, he'll finally "find" someone at the tender age of 64.
I'm genuinely surprised that this isn't some NTR focused game, because I've straight up found more redeemable MC's in those types of games compared to this.

All the other character writing is solid however, even though there are plenty of characters to dislike, that dislike is based on them being written well as just unlikeable characters.

There is one theory of why this game is such a dumpsterfire of emotions and discussion even amongst the players who enjoy some parts or others in this: The atrocious mishandling of the girls who actually show interest.

As these girls are totally sidelined and ridiculed by the game, like Zoe, it is very well deserved that players loose interest in this game ever making even a bit of sense, let alone portray a guy who can see interest in the girl sitting across from him and act on it, which is something dating books or self help books about combating lonelyness usually have a mandatory segment on. Stay away from the profiteering types, which MC has a high awareness of on his own and yet, he never act on his own common sense.
What not to like of this Sisyphus clone, right? More like a sower Sissy and pussy than a man he supposedly studied and strives to become.

After countless books read, MC should be aces at this, but we got whatever it is now that discards genuine girls for absolute narcissistic girl boss types and the game relentlessly pushes MC into them hard, with no strategy or hope, only to have him crash and burn under their heels every single time.
About Zoe: she gave up on Edward when Adam and Matt invited them to the movies and he refused and stayed with Elsa at the office.
this game had 20-30 patrons when it was being updated every 3 months
I always gotta give credit to the girl who liked you before you were cool

1.7 million views and just around 90 Patreons. There're ways to promote AVN. You underestimate the bubble outside.

Ah, that's why devs like DarkCookie, DrStinkCheese, SFS, etc. have only a hand full Patreons. Didn't thought of that. Thank you for helping me see things more clearly.
Again, where? Where can devs expect to reach a larger audience than sites like these, that give more returns for them?

That's not all you said. You associated liking meaninglessly elaborate porno fantasies about edging/denial with mommy dommy gfs containing lots of words with intellectual superiority over people who don't like it, for basically no reason other than word to sex ratio. Hence this conversation. You can keep repeating the same statement of preference like it's the reason I take issue with you, but my point stands.

Just like summer's gone

Which game is that?
I don't remember the name. It was about a dude who discovers a secret bdsm club of wealthy men. He joins them and start training his daughter and some other girls. It should be still in development but incest is not my jam.

There better be a payoff to Edwards progression(regression?) because in earlier chapters I wanted to punch his face in, but with this I think I need a wrecking ball to achieve satisfaction.

The biggest mystery of this series is why Elsa still gives him the time of the day.

  1. Leaking this so quickly is a dick move. SQWL is not a big dev, and posting this instead of giving it another week when he's planning a public release takes money out of his pocket. That's too bad because if nothing else:
  2. This VN is different. I don't mean that in a positive or a negative way, just that I enjoy the game because I don't feel like there's another VN out there like it. When so many of the new VNs are cookie cutters of the same story reskinned and slightly redialoged, it's nice to have something else.
  3. This release felt really short and like the ball didn't move that much since the prior release. That's disappointing.
  4. Edward is not very likeable, but he may be relatable. Many people discover they don't like who they are and where they're going at some point in their life. It could be at 18 or it could be at 30. I can tell you from experience though, it's tough to make that change, and the progress out of being a loser isn't a straight line. There's a lot of hard lessons and regressions before you make yourself better, if you succeed at all. Edward is going to continue tantruming occasionally, even if he's being given step by step instructions from a variety of sources on how to be something better.
  5. Regarding the lack of sex scenes, I think there's an interesting parallel to the story here. If you want sex, you can just focus your attention on Lucy. She's clearly not a great person for a variety of reasons (cheating on her bf, gold digging, reading Ed's texts, trying to insert herself in his work life, trying to get him to knock her up and trap him, etc). Just like Edward, you can get sex quickly if that's what you want. Or you can delay that quick shot of gratification and experience something else. Does deferring immediate pleasure lead to better rewards? Who knows, but like Edward, you're gonna have to walk down that road to find out.

There are some theories about who is Elsa or what's her secret agenda to help Edward, but I don't think she has any dark motives to help him.
At the beginning when Elsa starts to work on EO they become friends somehow. It was Ed the one who asked Elsa to be his Cyrano.
Now it seems that Ed is showing some interest in her as something more than an accomplice, but his infatuation with Alice is strong.
