Yea, I'd recommend doing all non-slave content for the initial characters, I'd say up to v1.05 if you look at the change log, before doing any slave content. The systems are poorly gated, I have the advantage of having been playing this since it was pretty much incepted, so I've never dealt with any of the sequencing issues people have.

Follow the walkthrough on the first page of the thread which goes upto v1.65 and that pretty much covers you for most of the corruptible characters.
Many characters stories are linked with others so if you focus on one you lock yourself out of another. E.G Neighbour's husband if you are not friendly with him by meeting at the spa you miss the opportunity to take him to Utopia and enslave his wife before him and his park encounter.
AON's Better Experience mod allows you to roll back how much a character is corrupted so if you have locked yourself out, you do not have to restart the game and you then do not waste money on potions to re-corrupt characters once you have completed what you have missed.
