As someone who troubleshoots a lot around here, I see it causing problems all the time. If the update was not specifically designed for it, there is a very good chance of breaking something. It is always a good idea to play it safe, and not take the risk.

tru dat. the odds are, that just a tiny something had been changed from one version to the next for some cleanup reasons, and something little as a single letter in a filename gets your game stuck, when the according line in some script refers to it the (now) wrong way. also, Ren'Py does some let's say time savings, and tries to optimise things, so if it finds something it had already previously complied, it might not do anew, given the checks find no apparent difference. things can thus mess up by just copying over, because definitions may no longer match.

For My club have you enslaved Heather, your boss from the coffee shop? If not you need to do that as she opens it for you. Then you speak to the band at My Club by clicking on the stage at My Club and do stage event and they pass on the info about Ava and Evelyn.
Evelyn is a drummer that the Band Exciting know and Ava is the Mother of one of them. If you have corrupted them enough once you do the stage event at My Club you will be told about them and you can start corrupting them.
