I noticed on a replay that Etheryn now starts with a power set out the gate too. It lets her draw aggro by throwing her bird at people's faces while she throws up ice walls. Now only Atugia and Vivanne lack a second class out the gate. They really want to make all the companions samey blobs that can do the fit different roles.

The thing I think I hate the most about this game, is not that I am completely apathetic or hate it.

I hate that I feel there is something good here that might be salvageable, and I'm sure as hell these fucken clown walked ass backwards and face planted into these good ideas, seemed to recognize that they may be good, and still proceed to somehow fuck it up. At least that's the feel/vibe I get from this shit show, just come here to watch the dumpster fire.

Not even taking into account the long ass time they take to keep milking patreon because they apparently can't conceive of just making another fucking game after this one. At this point I think they make a 1 patch update then cut that into 10 tiny patches and then sit on their ass, like a shitty version of netflix.

The writers of this game have grown steadily petulant with time. Send help or we shall have them beaten with reeds.

Most of the writers were already quite petulant going full nuclear on anyone who had a different view then their echo chamber, remove characters, destroying other writer's characters, destroy character's stories, try to ban people and even some D.M.C.A claims for someone trying to mod abandoned characters.

Some of the writers are good but more of them are being forced out due to not being 'Yes-Man'.

• The second half of VarenaQuest, a Main Story Quest supplement, is now available! If you successfully finished Varena’s investigation of the warehouse, you’ll have enough clues to proceed to the next leg of her quest! This quest more properly guest-stars Varena working alongside you, along with a certain strawberry bard, to find the root of the corruption slowly seeping into the Kingdom of Khor’minos — and gives you a chance to root out what might be the most insidious source! This one’s written mostly by me, but almost the whole staff chipped in: there’s a couple new cuties by Garde, a devious seductress by Wsan, and a new bad end by Balak. And of course, big ups to Leek for coding this bad girl!
• LEVEL CAP INCREASE – You can now reach 8th Level. Includes 3 new powers for every class, such as the White Mage’s new Tempest Smite (hit somebody with Sorra’s chain lightning), the Warrior’s Whirlwind (think Cleave, but with twice the whirling), or the Black Mage’s Twisted Pyre (that permanently reduces a foe’s Magic Resistance at-will), all learnable by leveling up or visiting the usual trainers in Hawkethorne. Like, I'm pretty ambivalent to Tobs. I dont have a hate boner for the guy. But it's just too much reading. His writing is like that scene from Always Sunny where Dennis is showing Mac and Charlie his sex tape and Mac starts fast forwarding it cause "There's just so much preamble". And I love reading, even in this game, I find a lot of it genuinely interesting. But I see his name accompanied with the small ass scroll bar and my eyes just glaze over and I start skimming to at least get the gist of the scene. It's a shame.

Yeah, I do feel his sex scenes have too much in it and there's just a way he writes that kinda blends his characters and makes it hard to connect to a few of them. I don't like having to skip to get to the good part because it should all be one good thing that leads to another. I end up feeling frustrated reading some of his scenes.

They're genuinely just inept. The amount of typos I've had to fix with a fresh playthrough as I'm modding along is crazy. From lines referring to an NPC with the wrong name, to switching normal dialogue with the bimbo one, really gives you an idea of the quality control behind this slop. Another point of annoyance is the lack of basic functionality like the lack of 'back' buttons in a lot of menus, weird cut-offs when you just want to go back to the talk menu for instance, and variable inconsistencies mentioning an NPC with 3 different pronouns in a single paragraph. That's not even mentioning the number of ready busts just not implemented for reasons nobody knows but the dev team, which entirely close off all info to their little circle (which doesn't include their own writers), who at this point have probably provided more in the way of substance than the "A team" themselves -- who are content on shitting out more cuckoldry slop and calling it a day.
Spending some time on their discord is enough to get a grasp of the root causes of many of these issues. They're genuinely just writing with their own PCs in mind instead of a neutral approach for instance, hence why we get the 180 whiplash dialogue, and they're even getting paid to do that so that's a plus.

Random sad thought: With all the shittalking I did Quintillus in that last post, I have to respect that the author even gave you the choice to kill him. There's clearly a dearth of characters people wish they could do that to, but the writers would be way too butthurt to let you even tell them off. On the other hand, I get the feeling the writer would take it back if he could, but some form of dignity keeps him from doing it.

... and just in general I don't think this game was ever meant to be Corruption of Champions. It's just Brand Recognition™ to save whatever idea he had wanted to make.

How popular was Fall of Eden? Did you even hear about it? Because that was Savin's first project.

...I have no idea why Fenoxo even gave him the ability to use that title outside of them being friends. It's pretty clear to me Savin is a piss-poor DM, that or he's only fun if you're playing in a DnD campaign where he IS OK with you being the actual hero and not just the errandboy... and even then I bet half the time that's not the case and his players are just too dumb to see it.

I remain convinced that was a concentrated effort from Quintillus' writer because they (incorrectly) believed Quin would be more popular if Berwyn wasn't around and hated that Wyn was the more liked femboy despite insisting Quin is merely a twink and not trying to be/able to be confused for a girl. Also, didn't have the same appeal considering his writer insisted Quin was 100% straight while Berwyn was, at least on paper, bi thanks to his changes I personally feel not really, he never got content suggesting he enjoyed gay sex until I guess the ruination? But Quin was always a shit character, removing his "competition" doesn't change that. So it's just more wasted slots that are supposedly limited, but what else is new and not messy about this game?

The only reason you do not like Quin is because you can not top him.

I lean more towards subbing, but hands down, if I'm getting dicked, it's going to be by the cuddly pouting pupper, not the pretty boy bunny. Berwyn's objectively the more interesting and charming character between the two. I think the only reason anyone would choose Quint over Berwyn would be an attraction to pretty boys, and that's totally valid, I don't want to dismiss that- but like.. He doesn't have as much content, interactivity, or scenes meant to charm players. A lot of his conversations with you are pretty dry reads. I can only assume that his 'seductive nature' relies heavily on his face.
I didn't have a boy band phase growing up, so I just don't feel any attraction to him. He feels flavorless.

Honestly, this whole comparison between him and Berwyn is so weird to me, it doesn't even feel like a contest, they're aiming for entirely different demographics, it's just that one is a larger demographic than the other is all. I could easily substitute Cait's entire presence in the story with Berwyn from the start and have a more fun experience with the game as a result- but Quint may as well be a dead fish for all the emotion he evokes in me. I'm assuming I'm just not the intended audience for Quint, just as I'm not the intended audience for hardcore yaoi VNs or any anime all about guys in tight swimsuits.
Cute is justice as far as I'm concerned.
