which is a shame since I got the best download speed with gofile and pixel but Pixel have a cap on free accounts while gofile dont.
I had to re-download it a week or so ago and used itch.io, was done in a few minutes. Probably the next best thing next to GoFile

Hey guys, welcome to dev log 42.

I've had a very productive couple of weeks once again, with my efforts being split between a few different tasks this time.

First, the UI work that I showed you in the last dev log is now complete, with all of the bugs (hopefully) ironed out. Unfortunately, I've discovered that old saves will probably stop working. I spent a good amount of time trying to remedy this issue, but it seems that it's not actually being cause by the new UI, rather it's a consequence of updating the version of ren'py the game runs on, so there's nothing I can do about it I'm afraid. Fortunately, with the nature of Cosy Cafe being a linear story, it probably shouldn't matter much, as you can simply skip to any update from the start, but I just wanted to let you all know that it's coming.

Next, I spent a lot of time working on a new map. As you can probably tell in the images attached to this post, it's the back of the cafe! That should be all of the map work needed for this update, but I wanted to really get it right, as it will feature heavily in a lot of future content.

Finally, I have, of course, been rendering. I've finished another 250 renders, including some very time consuming and technically challenging ones - believe it or not, setting up and posing the painting render attached took over 45 minutes, and I've had to do dozens like that this update! Fortunately, I've mostly finished with that now, and the rest of the rendering for this update should be pretty straightforward.

So, with all of that being said, and most of the more technical aspects of the update out of the way, I'm finally in a position where I think I can estimate a release date:- Mid December. Of course, as usual, if unforeseen issues crop up it may flex a bit, but knowing what I have left to do, I think that should be very doable.

As always, I'll speak to you all in a couple of weeks, though I probably won't have much more to report than "I'm still alive, and I'm still grinding through the renders!" - so until then, thank you all for your support!

having to start over doesnt bother me none, ive replayed this about a half dozen times since i found it earlier this year, Cosy Creator
Same, I was planning on replaying just before the release again anyhow. So now I just have to wait till the update and do it then. Don't see an issue here. But that's for me. I know a lot will complain about it, however for my favorite games I always replay beforehand even if it's the 10th time playing it. Cosy Cafe is in my top 3 so replay are a given for me.

I'm seeing several wonderful activities here...

* Catherine having a dishwasher malfunction where she gets sprayed and ends up with a cold wet 't-shirt' show.

* Catherine spraying Hannah with water because she can't help herself. Hannah then gets to watch Catherine get a spanking, bare bottom perhaps... and the MC warns Catherine that the next spanking she gets will be in front of the entire staff And bare bottom...

* Catherine having her 'own' room to help work off some of her debt to the MC - starting with RL flashing/topless shows - like doing the dishes topless if she ruins a work outfit.

Cosy is adding a lot of possibilities with opening up this new room!

Cheers!! :coffee:

Seeing the back of the Cafe in the Dev Log 42 images makes me so happy for some reason. It gives life to the game, and having neighbouring buildings make it more realistic than most games do where everything is floating in the void. I always felt the building a bit lacking, the stairs and second floor layout still don't make sense to me (where the second stair end and how the second floor is position almost makes me feel like the building is an L shaped, but I'm pretty sure it's a rectangle. (I would actually really like to understand how the building is because I still can't see how the stairs and second floor fit lol, can someone explain to me?)
The new menu and UI looks so nice I can't wait to read all the details in the character pages!
Cosy Cafe is the game I come back to waiting for a new update and it's one of my favorites ever since I started playing these sorts of games/stories on October last year and discovered it around 10 months ago.

That makes me think, about the staircase I mean. I've always wanted to see a full floorplan of the cafe. I was thinking of doing it myself in MS-Paint, I doubt Cosy has one, but it would be a nice little bonus to have, at least to me.

I did this for some VNs in the past, but they were always one floor deals. Here, we have three. I had a house/architectural program in the past that puts labels in rooms and it was able to put furniture here and there.

I wish that was available for this.

I decided to take a crack at making a floor plan, and sufficed to say the only reasonable conclusion that makes sense here is that the universe Cosy Cafe takes place in has persistent seamless wormholes. There's one at the top of the stairs going to the second floor, and there is one going to the second floor bathroom, maybe one going to the attic as well.

Here is my attempt, keep in mind this was a quick thing I made by just clicking through the game. I dont have any experience with this kind of thing. no scale involved or anything either

Some of the problems I ran into while doing this:

-The placement of the door to the bathrooms doesnt really make sense, we see in the dining area that the door is closer to the front wall (the one that the front entrance is on), and there are two tables between the entrance to the kitchen and the bathrooms. Yet the bathrooms are pretty large on the inside, which would beget a door placement closer to the kitchen entrance.

-At first I had a problem with the stairs, but after my completely reasonable wormhole conclusion that makes sense.

-The second floor bathroom... I dont know man, maybe when you walk inside its actually under the stairs. but that still doesnt explain why the door is against the front wall.

I would love to see cosy's take on the cafe floor plan, or maybe even some zoomed out pictures of the major rooms without furniture (this is a big ask considering this doesnt really matter that much)

Wormholes is about the most accurate answer you're gonna get. In short, when I first made the maps, around a year before 0.1 released, I didn't account for the turn in the stairs (I can't remember how/why that happened at this point) - so whoever said the building should be L shaped had it about right logically. As for your floor plan, the upstairs is an actual rectangle (in HS2), with vicky's room and the one next to it extending back as far as the bathroom, so that part is legit at least  (if you look closely, her room IS L shaped, extending beneath the stairs to the attic)

There is a wonderful one on the discord channel. Plus about 100 other questions you never thought to ask about. Not copying here without permission from the guy who created it.
