I've just been posting them on here, figuring that Ninoss - if he bothers to do another update - will add them to his "to be fixed" list. The last ones I posted, have been fixed that way.
We have a “Q” after the girl names (home screen, right column).
This shows, when there is a quest open with this girl.
As some others mentioned already, it would be nice when this “Q” would be always visible, not only when the girl is rested and ready to fight.
I use a lot the “energize” spell to bring fighters back to fights, after 2, 3 or 4 days of resting.
Then it is useful to know which fighters have quests.
Optimal would be to have another letter for the kind of quest. A "T" for temple, "Ch" for chateau …
Heyesey Lol, I didn'teven knew there was a giant quest thing ^^ Stupidity_0122 Impossible to render new images alpha11zz1 Hey you're partially right, shares the same miss chance as the shoot action, tbh, that's to painfull to fix so yeah idk.. Rolo "T" for temple, "Ch" for chateau => Outrageously too painfull to track, I don't even know when are the event, I don't even have a clue on on the check for the right girl without harcoding everything on-top of the hardcoded thing >< Heyesey I Tried this :
It mgiht be possible for someone who's getting paid... Ninoss is not. And since it's not his original work, I'm not at all sure that he would have any right to try and make money out of it, even if he wanted to.
What was the point in bringing you together with Shaneride then, if you won't include some of his art to your modded version of the game?
So nothing will be done about the many lacking images of the original game? If this mod or rework will only be about game mechanics in the end, then this is a huge disappointment.

Amaraine has more or less abandoned his game, which was only finished nominally back in the day, because it lacked a lot of content, when it got the "completed" tag. It might be possible to reach out to him and ask him, just saying.
But it's not even necessary, if this rework stays non-profit orientated. Since Ninoss so far is only modding the game, I don't see why some fans of the game, who also know their way around daz3d, wouldn't be able to provide additional images to this game. And we already have art, which was created by Shaneride back in the day. He even sent these images to Ninoss. So why aren't those being implemented at least?

If you're disappointed because a huge fan of the game decided to make some improvements entirely off his own bat and with no hope of reward but didn't include the particular improvements YOU wanted, then you seriously need to rethink the way your life is going.

That's a very silly assumption. Being disappointed about the content of a mod or whatever else in particular has got zero to do with my personal life. I can assure you, I'm very content with it btw. This mod won't affect my personal life in the slightest way, but still this mod turns out to be disappointing in the end, because I had reasons to expect more from it due to a private message, where Ninoss said something else.
Maybe you should rethink making wild guesses next time, if someone else dares to criticize something.
As a matter of fact this mod suddenly lost all of its initial attraction to me, if it won't include new renders.
Just changing some game or battle mechanics is pretty pointless to me, because this isn't what the original version of Amaraine was lacking most. For me just changing minor things adds no real replay value. This game like most, if not all, erotic 3d art games stands and falls with its renders foremost. If nothing is done about missing renders or including new ones, I'm wasting my time here.
I also have brought Shaneride together with Ninoss. The former did some nice additional renders back in the day. Now I've read, that these won't be included for whatever reason. I was expecting otherwise. This is indeed disappointing in the end, but it won't affect my life or anyone’s' life for that matter (which is actually a no-brainer, but it seems not for everyone)…

I think it would be nice that we could see all available quests with one button (like the 4 end game quests with counters) rather than talking with the girls one by one. Maybe I will make something like this when I have the motivation.
By the way, instead of trying to re-use old renders, how about new art? Maybe that's easier.
If you pay me I can draw some stickwomen with tools as powerful as microsoft paint.
I promise drawing those will not take long
Joke asides, the first sentence is a valid question. Not just to Seewolf but to everybody in the thread. Since this is a remake, are we forced to keep the old art?
note: Don't take to following message the wrong way, we have a common goal here. Let's talk serious.
First, sorry but you are just quite delusional about how game dev works ><
I've already tried and implemented some of Shaneride renders in the next ver but I can't do much more. The point is that the underlying base code of the game is really not flexible AT ALL and won't accept most of the scene Shaneride made.
Also keep in mind that only Shaneride has the original assets, so even assuming that I had a 2k$ 4090 and hundreads of hours to spare. I couldn't even do it anyways so more than being absurd, I just can't understand the fixation everybody has about new renders.
I mean if you want to put the pieces together, in less than 5 minutes you understand why it's straight the worst request possible you could ask ><
Assuming everyone understood the obvious problem stated in the previous part, the other issue is the code base.
Their are almost no pythonic implementation at all, everything is harcoded everywhere, the code is not maintainable and disigned like a linear game but it's a sandbox one.
I won't throw random guess searching if it's bad desing, that RenPy didn't had some of the features it had now at the time or a lack of familiarity on how RenPy and Python works together or simply a way of doing things just not compatible with mine.
But whatever, adding anything new in Damsels is just just a time blackhole and unjustifed pain all over the place, I wish it wasn't but it is, wan't do anything about that ^^
All of that make it extremly slow and inefficient to add anything, assuming it's even possible without remaking the entire system you want to add something to.
As you already said, I just can't invest stupid huge quantities of hours for fun (even if I want, capitalism you know).
At some point I need to eat pastas every days or I'll die ><
And yeah, keeping the name, the story and the art and calling it my game. It's not something that I want and not only for obvious legal reasons, the game won't feel like home and that's a bad feeling to have when it's "your" game.
If you guys really like this kind or RPG oriented H game, because at the end of the day, I think that's what your trying to say.
I absolutly understand your point as I also do.
But the most optimal plan here is probably to just embrace it and do myself a fresh new RPG oriented H game ^^
However, one issue persists: Who would make the art?
I mean I know Daz, but a dev doing both the code, story and art, is a slow dev. It's quite commonin the community but don't expect updates faster than every 1-3 months.
I've already commisioned 2d artists and that's a good path... for a game making 1k+$/month. Or you're just going straight to dept in the hope that your game will work somedays.
The writing part is another story, I have good concepts in mind but it's not suffisiant, you need a native EN speaker with nice writing/storytelling skills to pump out quality lines of dialogues ^^ (Even if I've made progress, I'm not yet that guy)
That might sounds weird but game dev actually requires a variety of jobs to work.
I'm a software engineer, you can ask me to make the game multiplayer, but when it comes to art and story. I'll be inefficient, slow, and only do "decent" quality work.
So yeah here are the intels
Btw here is the planned 1.2.4 changelog, including what new renders I "could" add. I had to done some code rework but it was on the "it's do-able" side of it.
But after this one, only expect some bug-fixes as I don't really know what I could add more.
My initial goal was to fix a game that I liked and make it more 2023 1080p compatible. Adding more content wasn't my goal, I just wanted to enjoy playing a more modern and RPG combat oriented version of Damsels ^^
I'm frankly amazed myself that renpy could be stretched so far as to make a dungeon crawl with a VN engine. I'm not familiar with renpy and have only a nodding acquaintance with Python (I'm an old Perl guy), but this can't be anything like renpy's intended use. So given that it's already a minor miracle I'd personally be inclined not to fuck with it.
Props.
02defaults.rpy is 700 lines of harcoded values for various things ranging from images, girl status, world events, quests, factions, npcs.. ..
Even if I wanted that's just too un-scalable to be sustainable. But tbh many RenPy's game suffers from this and the engine really don't like it, as you could just use basic Python class to store all of the mess ^^
But yeah just imagine what would the quest tracker would look like with those hundreads of variable sparsed everywhere to keep track of (and even more time consumming if you're not the original creator and don't have a clue where things are)
