People will attack poor dude for abandoning DMD but seriously what he can do about that? He lives out of it and I'm sure he's in a deep shit right now. Even if he lose half of his patrons he won't lose everyone and going out of patreon would mean that. In fact if he'll stay on Patreon I doubt he'll keep all his teammates if his pledges will drop too much. Crappy for him and all other incest devs

I know that many of you only cared about this game and that’s why you signed up to pledge. And if I don’t continue on with DMD now and decide to make different game instead, your first thought may be to leave. I completely understand that. But I’d like to think that you all pledged because of the work and passion we put into our game every month, no matter what the game is.
I'm sorry Mr Dots but I would imagine the vast majority of your supporters were only there for one thing and that was DMD. There may be a small percentage that will stick around due to how much they liked DMD and recognising that you would be able to put that quality into your next product but I doubt it would be a large percentage. Truly is a sad day and I now feel the need to shoot some peeps on Battlefield to release some frustration :(

I have to agree with that. He is likely wrong in assuming that. People were there most likely for DmD. And with him having to turn storyboards and such to get approved by patreon on the next project, his income will dip substantially.

I don't think so. People don't pledge "because of the work and passion we put into our game" or because they think MrDots is a nice guy, or whatever, but mostly because they like the game, the theme, the models, etc. There are TONS of devs right now that put a lot of work and passion into their games and don´t find even the 10 % of the support MrDots has found, just because their games don't hit the "correct key" (name if correct fetish, correct models, correct MC or whatever)

I think that, if MrDots doesn´t continue DMD and starts a new game with other fetishes, models, etc, he will find most of his patrons leave him for good, and probably he knows it. Right now, there are a lot of new devs and a lot of competence for patrons. I think he will not want to kill the "hen of the golden eggs" that is DMD and will try to continue with it, finding another way to monetize it.

there's no incentive for him to continue DMD if he can't get paid, so unless he figures out a solution to release it on his website and still have his thousands of patrons pledge him money in some fashion, then this is a dead project (death by bureaucratic action)

I think there's no doubt that most supportes will leave him when he stops developing DmD.

Only chance seems to be he works on both, DmD and another game for the Patreon side without incest. The distribution of DmD mustn't use Patreon, but patrons should get easy access to DmD updates ...

Hi guys.

Today is a very sad day for us.

With much despair, I have to regretfully inform you all that DMD will no longer be available on Patreon.

Earlier this week, I received an email from Patreon’s staff, informing me that I would not be allowed to continue with the development of DMD on this platform anymore. They gave me the chance to continue this game on a different site, as long as it’s not related to Patreon in any way.

Initially, their team had planned to have my page completely removed from Patreon unless that I appealed their decision and gave a reason why I shouldn’t be banned and no longer able to create games on here. After three days, I finally received a response, where they were happy to keep my page open, but it has been at a huge cost - me agreeing to remove anything related to DMD from my page.

They have given me until Monday January 29th to remove everything that relates to the game. Otherwise, I would be banned indefinitely.

Patreon have allowed me to keep my page alive and continue on with a different project, but this time they want to make sure that there is no incest involved. I in turn have agreed to forward my new project idea, storylines and walkthroughs to them before they are published on my page.

When I received this news on Monday, I couldn’t work on the update to be able to finish it. I tried really hard, but I just couldn’t focus, given the tough decision I was left to make. So, I’m terribly sorry but I won’t be able to release v.17 this Saturday as promised.

I know some of you right now may feel cheated, angry and at a loss for words by reading this post. And you have every right to be.

Because that’s somewhat how I feel as well to say the least.

About DMD:

I’ll be moving the content to my own personal website and we will try to find a way to keep the development going.

Don’t worry, I’ve already saved your email addresses and you’ll be hearing from me soon. Even if you decide to remove your pledge, I will keep in touch with you since I owe you this month’s rewards and I plan on delivering, but it won’t be on this platform anymore.

About the new project and moving forward:

We don’t know exactly what the new project is going to be about just yet, but we have had a few ideas in the pipeline for a while now that will now be looked at carefully. Work on the new project will begin in March/April.

Before then, I’ll be creating different polls to see what kind of story you would like me to work on next.

That will give me an idea of the kind of game you could potentially enjoy and continue your interest in my work.

I’ll be taking February to move the content to my website and to respond to any questions you might have.

If you decide to leave, then I’ll understand:

I know that many of you only cared about this game and that’s why you signed up to pledge. And if I don’t continue on with DMD now and decide to make different game instead, your first thought may be to leave. I completely understand that. But I’d like to think that you all pledged because of the work and passion we put into our game every month, no matter what the game is.

That’s why I’d like you to stay on for a little longer until confirm our next move. I’ll do my very best to make it worth your while.

If you decide to stay, you won’t be charged until we start a new project:

I have the option to pause the campaign, so that you don’t get charged next month and that’s what I have already done a few minutes ago.

I don’t think I deserve to be paid if I’m not working on anything, and since it might take us a while until we start the new game, it certainly wouldn’t be fair to charge you.

Also, I’d like you to take a look at the new project first and then decide if you’d like to continue being a patron of the new game.

You the fans, are what has kept me going all this time, and none of this would have been possible without you.

Final words

I really do appreciate the support you have all given my team and I, ever since I started making the game. It has been a truly overwhelming experience and one I will cherish for a long time to come.

I never expected this game to become as popular as it has when I first began making it.

So, I’m also incredibly grateful for that too.

The one thing I advise that you do, if you have not done so already, is to download any version of the game that you don’t already have, as I will be taking those links down on Sunday as well.

I’ll keep this post alive since I know many of you won’t see it immediately.

If you have any questions to ask, I’d recommend you PM them to me, rather than post them on the wall.

Any comments or posts related to DMD after this weekend will not be answered or they will be deleted, so we can abide by Patreon’s request not to mention the game. So as I said, PM me instead.

If you prefer to chat with me via email, you can contact me at:

Thanks for your ongoing support, and I wish you all the very best.

MrDots

Shitstorms everywhere... "Me too" draconic witch hunts, Patreon hypocrisy....
You had to know that now is the time of the "social justice warriors" given the "me too" movement where you can hurl accusations at anyone from your past in true character assassination form without any burden of proof, paramount to the Salem Witch Trials... I just hope that Mr. D. will at least give us a "happy ending" before he embarks on his new watered down, remove my money from his pocket, Patreon endeavor... (SMH)

Still, don't understand why these guys, especially the "big dogs" just don't tell Patreon to fuck off and do it themselves? What you are a programmer and can't figure out how to build a website and take recurring paypal payments??? I may not be a dev but I am self-employed and if you are willing to pay me, I can take any form of payment that you can offer... Are you that hard up, or stupid, that you can't???

Well, that reminds me again how fast things can go south. Like I lost my job a few years ago. Worked a long time and one day the company goes bankrupt. You all fired, good luck somewhere else.

He might see really soon what the fans gonna say. I bet most of the fans WILL tell him they will leave if he doesn't keep making DMD content. That kinda sounds like a threat but that's how it is. If lets say, Mc Donald one day stop making meat burger and serve veggie only, well people gonna leave no matter how friendly the workers are and how beautiful the dinner looks.

And if he really wants to quit DMD...at least rush the story and give us a ... more or less okay ending in 1-2 updates ... finish in 0.18 or 0.19 with a happy happy happy end. I don't even care about the sex in there. Just give us a not too shit ending.

he'll lose 90% of his patrons once DMD stops development and some other side project goes on.

if it were possible, he'd publish his new project on Patreon after they "approve" it, and release DMD on his website. I think he mentioned that the Patreon overlords were okay with him doing DMD somewhere else, so long as it isn't linked to his Patreon. since he still has all of his patron e-mails it's still possible DMD resumes development in April once all the dust settles.

Thing is he can't create a new project with the fetishes that made these games (his included) so popular. He said it himself he'll have to send his content to patreon to get it approved, right? That means none of that shit can be included. Games like DoD, DmD would never achieve so much money per month if they didn't have that fetish we all know about. I guarantee it.

Problem is if he does that, you know DmD is dead either way. If he starts another game, then the dev time will have to be split, so that means less content. Obviously he'd focus on the new (Patreon Approved) game, leaving even less time for DmD (which will be unsupported at this time, meaning EVEN LESS reason to give time to it). So it's effectively the end of DmD (and a substantial amount of his revenue) if he decides to go down this path.

This makes me sound like an absolute asshole, but I think its better for DMD if he does fail the new project. Then he will realize that DMD was the money maker and what the fans want. And I hope he realizes soon. Because after 3-4 months, only a few will still follow his work. No matter if its DMD or something else. The Internet is for porn. If you let people wait too long, they WILL find something else and abandon your stuff.
