Guys how do you think which game will be better Melody or DmD and why?
It will be like comparing the original 3 Star Wars movies with Rogue One. - I personally l like the tighter and concluding story of Rogue One a lot, and the darker ending. However, I acknowledge the huge scope and excellence of the first three films (minus any scenes with Ewoks where they did not actually die).

Anyone know if Mr.Dots is planning on condensing DMD storyline now that there will (most likely) not be monthly updates? It took almost a year and a half to get through Chapter 1 with month-by-month releases. Now it could take much longer.

And speaking as a developer, if you're any good you only get better with age. The amount of stuff I've learned in just two months of making VN's already has e convinced that our second game will be way ahead of where the first started.

So hopefully it will be the same with Mr. Dots. All the lessons learned in making DMD will culminate in a much stronger opening for Melody and hopefully result in a much tighter story with better pacing.

THIS is the question I've been thinking about for 5 weeks.
Still too early to say. What success will Melody have ? Just this weekend several very successful YT channels were banned. Will this directly or indirectly cause Patreon to nuke its NSFW creators ? Will MrDots find his "ideal" non-Patreon platform ?
These are just some of the issues that can impact DMD.
But if DMD updates every 2-3 months, for example, I'd think what would have taken several monthly updates would be condensed into that one update.
From a business viewpoint, it's all about looking for your NEXT meal ticket. If Melody is successful enough--only MrDots can judge this, ofc--the next project will likely be a Melody-type clone (older male MC acquiring a younger harem) on Patreon. DMD might be SOL.
But for now, DMD must be kept alive awaiting developments on the above-mentioned issues. If needed, DMD will serve as the future meal ticket.
It also comes down to why he was doing DMD. I have no insider knowledge on this, just purely speculating. But if DMD had become a burden, it's possible he's using this as his method of exodus from the project. Not saying that is the case.

Just saying that there is a sad possibility that if Melody is what is lighting his creative fire and DMD has become a story telling slog for him, this may be a good excuse to get out.

Again, I have nothing to support such a hypothesis, just speculating.

I agree, except the part with "better pacing" ... imo the pace in chapter 1 was perfect, nothing to improve there :D Any faster would be worse. Matter of taste, I guess.

There has never been an indication there is any burnout by MDots on DMD at all. In fact, the stuff planned for Chapter 2 for which I can’t divulge is among some of the most titillating and delicious yet. (I’ve just driven @ 600 miles listening to Mikhail Bulgakov’s “Master and Margarita” and my mind is a little off kilter)

The thing about Melody is she looks pretty and I'd hit it, but she doesn't have that X-factor or special something to her looks that D has.
For me the two characters showing the most vulnerability with MC have been D and Jennifer. I have hopes both Georgina and Elena will yet to have those moments in DMD. Without vulnerability for me you don’t get to an X-factor in a romance VN.

D then has had much more screen time and thus much more vulnerable moments. D is much more womanly and this will attract differently than Jennifer; but if Jennifer had the same screen time, some might find Jenniffer with the bigger x-factor imo.

Without seeing Melody “in motion” she has two differences with D that may make one’s reaction to her different from the position as a male (or at least two that make me react differently): (1) D is considerably shorter than Melody (for me it make a vulnerability difference); and (2) D has a rounder face than Melody (for me it makes a femininity difference).

I am hopeful that, once we see Melody “in motion,” most will get X-factor out of the (hopefully) complexity of facial and body actions and reactions in her social intercourse with the MC and others. She has vulnerabilities that I can’t describe, because, although scripted, I don’t know how they will ultimately play out on the screen.

I’m hoping she will have a balance of strength and weakness in her that could be likened to a cross between Holly Golightly and Hermione Granger, but who knows until all the elements come together and it gets played out in the first 2-3 releases as the character unfolds.

(Meanwhile D of DMD for me probably will still hold the bigger X-factor for me as her height and body type - and her height difference with MC - matches that of my own lady of 20 years - who, btw, is 2 years older than me. So when I see D from MC’s view, I get echos of my own lady looking up at me. Oh yes, and my lady has a similarly round face.)
