How goes the battle, bro?
Reading between the lines from MrDots' progress reports to his patrons, I'm about 80% certain (not quite a slam dunk) that he would have preferred to continue DMD.
Obviously, the Melody idea has needed to be reworked to comply with his Patreon overseers. DMD dev-teamers were none too keen even for patrons to "interfere with a dev's artistic vision" [paraphrase]. So how happy can a dev-team be with Patreon interference???
This is a clusterfuck, bro. For all of us concerned...

The battle continues and we are pushing forward.

And I hope you're right about his desire to continue work on DMD. I did my best to preface my statement with "I could be just talking out of my ass". It's just been a consideration that occasionally plagues my view of this whole thing.

But I also know as a writer how sometimes you can just get burned out and uninspired by a project. And when you have an entity actively throwing roadblocks in front of you, it can definitely kill your motivation.

I agree though, given the stipulations laid out by patreon, there was no way to create a sanitized version of DMD that was going to live up to the vision.

I thought if the game produces a lot of mods and guides ,the game is popular ,so sorry if it is not.Games such as' Parental love ' and 'My sweet Neighbor' will soon end unfortunately . We can see, in all two games all events move too fast and when events reach sex further it will be difficult to develop a plot.D only after 18 days of Dating gave us a Blowjob. While in "Parental love" ,Ellie gave us a Blowjob to the fifth day if I'm not mistaken.And immediately on the second day began to speak about her feelings to a man she hasn't seen since she was five.. As you can see, the difference is colossal... But at DmD, DmD but in DmD events are moving slowly and I'm glad. So sooner or later, DmD will be the best, I hope.))

Yeah, I'd gather that about BB as well, it has all those mods and stuff, whilst technically DMD should be much easier to mod because it's RenPy.

Having recently finished the newest DMD, the main things it has going for it in my opinion are the massive amount of content and variety and the absence of grind. Probably the animations, too. Some are a bit rough around the edges, but they're not easy to make, so I'll give them a free pass for that.
Anyway, what I disliked the most in BB, TP or DoD, the endless grinding, thankfully is absent here, one cannot commend the author enough for that.
However, with another game out now to bring the bread to the table, so to speak, it's likely DMDs development will slow down drastically ... time will tell.

There has never been an indication there is any burnout by MDots on DMD at all. In fact, the stuff planned for Chapter 2 for which I can’t divulge is among some of the most titillating and delicious yet. (I’ve just driven @ 600 miles listening to Mikhail Bulgakov’s “Master and Margarita” and my mind is a little off kilter)

Lol, I actually own a print copy of "Master and Margarita" that I've never read. Bought it for a class on "Magic and the Occult" that I ended up dropping because the papers this professor wanted us to write were ridiculous. Most of us were only in there to fulfill our liberal arts credits for our business degrees.

It is where I learned about the Gigas Codex though, so not a total loss.

But I digress, I confess I had no insider knowledge of the situation. Just contemplating how I might feel in a similar situation.

Unfortunately all of this shit was happening before we started our game, so we kind of planned ahead for this. Our story intentionally doesn't define the relationship between two characters in particular. And should the worst come and we get dinged, our code is written in such a way that we can remove that character, finish the beta, and then move on to our next game. Meanwhile, we'll release the final version of the first game with the character reintroduced and distribute it through our website. By that point, our Patreon page will be supporting our new game and all development on the other will have been completed. So finite.

Buuuuut, we don't define their relationship. That implication is solely on the reader...so we aren't really violating anything.

Its going to be an awesome game if and when it ever gets finished, but update to update getting boring. This update had to deal with a bunch of crap such as cassandra and whatnot. Blah blah blah just get back to the F/D romance.

No idea how you decide BB have more fans.Half of the BB thread is almost irrelevant.I'm sure DS will give us at least 0.14 and Lisa's update because with Glamour 2.0,his 30+NPC and 2 MC we won't see any real action before autumn 2018.Melody on the other hand sounds way better.And also will be faster corruption than DmD.And don't forget Dreams of Desire and the new sandbox game of Sin.Parental Love and My Sweet Neighbors are hitting hard too.

No, just slower progress since MrD and his team must develop 2 games instead of one.

We really need a post easy to be found for everyone to stop the same questions and wrong statements reoccur every 3rd post -.-

But have there been such a post or statement?
What I've see is one week, Mr.Dots issues a strong statement with "will finish DMD no matter what" written in bold letters. I had so much respect for him as a creator for sticking to his original creation, and with such a strong statement. Mr.Dots have up and till this point been consistent with his posts and the wording within them. I all fell apart the very next week, with the "we will have to focus on the new game instead". Despite what the team is up against, that is just a total 180 in my book. Leaving only vague assumptions in its stead.
Also from a creators point of view: I've already seen how little weight 'no matter what' holds for him/them. So what will stop him from continuing on Melody after the first release? Commenters on patreon seems overexcited for every new melody-information he throws at them, to a point where i think the ass-kissing is just sickening (sorry, but my interpretation of it), and it's been explained how important the economical aspect is for the teams future. Could be wrong about this, but I really dont see the new game failing at this point. Patreons are excited. Past experience makes the next game able to start out stronger, and the team is able to correct past story-mistakes. Reuseable assets. And so on
if Melody is a success; "hey, people like it. Lets continue". If Melody is mediocre recieved; "Not good nor bad. But we can work with it. It's safer than going back to DMD"..
To many pros for continuing the new project, unless he really true to his first announcement. I would have hoped for a comforting message about DMDs future at this point. Yet nothing, and it seems more and more like an eternal kickstarter-game where fans keeps it artificially alive for a long time to come.

For me the two characters showing the most vulnerability with MC have been D and Jennifer. I have hopes both Georgina and Elena will yet to have those moments in DMD. Without vulnerability for me you don’t get to an X-factor in a romance VN.

D then has had much more screen time and thus much more vulnerable moments. D is much more womanly and this will attract differently than Jennifer; but if Jennifer had the same screen time, some might find Jenniffer with the bigger x-factor imo.

Without seeing Melody “in motion” she has two differences with D that may make one’s reaction to her different from the position as a male (or at least two that make me react differently): (1) D is considerably shorter than Melody (for me it make a vulnerability difference); and (2) D has a rounder face than Melody (for me it makes a femininity difference).

I am hopeful that, once we see Melody “in motion,” most will get X-factor out of the (hopefully) complexity of facial and body actions and reactions in her social intercourse with the MC and others. She has vulnerabilities that I can’t describe, because, although scripted, I don’t know how they will ultimately play out on the screen.

I’m hoping she will have a balance of strength and weakness in her that could be likened to a cross between Holly Golightly and Hermione Granger, but who knows until all the elements come together and it gets played out in the first 2-3 releases as the character unfolds.

(Meanwhile D of DMD for me probably will still hold the bigger X-factor for me as her height and body type - and her height difference with MC - matches that of my own lady of 20 years - who, btw, is 2 years older than me. So when I see D from MC’s view, I get echos of my own lady looking up at me. Oh yes, and my lady has a similarly round face.)

Yeah, I totally hear what you're saying and I'm reasonably confident in the writing team's ability to write a story that will be compelling enough to make me way into the game. But the first time I saw D, just as a screenshot, something about the cuteness of her face (her chest probably didn't hurt either) just made me go "I have to play this". Melody doesn't quite do that.

And from reading this thread, you might be right about Jennifer, though I never really found her or Elena attractive at all. Georgina and Margo are the only ones in DMD aside from D that I really find visually interesting. (Oh, and the mom, but her personality isn't quite...)
