Around ten updates to go, is the rumour, which assuming they stick to the current update schedule, means another two and half years before it's finished. I feel like a lot of people will have lost interest by then.

It shouldn't matter how many Chapters DMD has. All that matters is that the story gets resolved.
There are still ~10 updates, plus possibly sequels after that, to finish the DMD story.
Don't think in terms of Chapters. Instead, think of updates. DMD was originally planned for ~40 updates. It has been trimmed to 28 (plus the sequels). But there will be a proper ending and no abandonment.

~10 updates to go sure sounds bit underwhelming,especially when you're hooked on this game from the start. i'm wondering now how will they finish the harem route,it might be difficult with 10ish updates left. I know you prefer pure D route,but if we assume that D won't lose virginity for atleast 2 more updates after this one,shaping the story and her character might feel rushed to have D being ok to threesome,foursemoe of fivesome..

They could do a time-skip deal where after D loses the V, The F explains how the last few months have been a blur. We get quick cutscenes showing the various activities she's been involved in and then we get to see the progression towards Harem route.

I agree if Mr.Dots really wants to do another 10 updates this every third month will be hard to maintain a fan base.
Maybe after Melody he will go to every other month.

The way sexual progression has been sped up, I expect D to get popped in 0.20.
Actually, the pattern in DMD has ever been : delay 2-3 times ; leap. It's like an optical illusion where players were led to believe "slow-burn" was consistent, when this just wasn't so.
Since 0.17, the "delay" component has dropped but there are still leaps (a proactive D).
One way or another, DMD very much seems like it will devolve into a sex-fest.

btw, take note of the following studio ploy : many players, even yourself, think Melody is more "polished" than DMD. It is. Literally. Many tech improvements have happened since DMD launched. These improvements have been liberally added to Melody--but few to DMD.

agree with you,progression has been sped up and i wouldn't be surprised if D looses virgintiy in 0.20 although i'm still doubting it,we will see after incoming update how the things will stand,there is expected confrontation with Elena that could possibly prolong F/D sex,but on the other hand it could speed it up also

as for bolded part,it's true that Melody looks more polished but improvements are noticable in DMD too,especially with this latest batch of teasers an pics like this one

The reason for this is the DMD models are using an older Daz model base and some of the Daz updates allowing for improvements are not possible with DMD. It’s been rather annoying as you see a new Daz item or texture release, but it can’t be used in DMD. Even technology is affecting the DMD shelf life. Sigh.

ok so you are not up with the times. last winter Patreon cracked down with games that are highly profitable and have incest, rape and other questionable things. Dots tried to remove the title and refereed to it as DMD only not Dating my Daughter, but that was not enough so Dots took it off Patreon, and in order to keep money coming in they started a new project named melody. Because Patreon can suspend the account of anyone that is doing something against their TOS, even if it's not discussed or even on their site but is funded through their payment system and it is not what they like. So Dots is working on Melody and other means is funding DMD so Patreon is satisfied and not upset at him. The game will be completed but they have to produce the other game as well so the other game gets 2 months of work and DMD gets 1 month of work out of 3 months.

You might want to read and understand the thread before making assertions, next update for DMD is out in 10 days or so.

On quite a few levels, this is a curious take.
For physical beauty, comparing the 5 fully nude DMD female characters players have seen, Elena is easily 5th (at least Jen has a very beautiful face if not an impressive body). Granted, E has beautifully expressive eyes but all the others (excepting Olivia) have breath-taking eyes.
E is a slutty brat. Surely, she would be the least likely candidate for a long-term relationship.
On the positive side she IS Ms. Excitement. So, I can understand if many players like her antics--if confined to a fantasy setting. As someone who has had IRL relationships with several of these "little wild ones", they are fun about 20% of the time...

Elena would make a good entertainment girlfriend (I too have learned the hard way), but unless you are also into fun 24/7 the relationship dies. As much as I like D she is a bit too naive and until her true liberated personality comes out it's still too early to tell, D might end up being an Elena to the 10th power. Weirdly the character who would be a good girlfriend is the one I have the least interest in, Georgina. She is hot, slutty and smart with enough sophistication to be in a stable long term relationship.

The MC in DMD is a creep, sure. But he does have several redeeming qualities. If you've played even dozens of these VNs, you would have found MANY MCs that had no redeeming qualities of any kind.
Again, this is to assure a player : "Hey, look at that! Even I'm better than that guy!". In most cases players are semi-correct : sure, most players are better human beings than a degenerate douchebag MC ; but sadly, no, that isn't necessarily enough [Yo! Keep trying! Lower your expectations if needed] to attract babes to them.

My issue isn't that the MC is a degenerate, but that he's a poorly written, obnoxious, violent and humorless hypocrite that won't stop ranting about how infallible his daughter is. We get it! She's wonderful. Now you don't have to repeat it six million times like a lunatic. No wonder she's so dumb. There must be practically no oxygen at the top of that huge pedestal he placed her on.

And if you really need to suckerpunch a teenager who's hitting on your girl, don't whine when the favor is returned. There are plenty of similar situations where MC gets the urge to beat someone up for practically nothing. Take the creep at the beach or anybody who shows the slightest interest in a girl he desires.
