I agree. I think this might be MrDots best option atm. Toe the line for a little bit with this game until a better alternative comes up, like one of the new sites that are being proposed.

I also think that since this happened, MrDots is not naive to the longevity of porn games on Patreon. I think he knows the writing is one the wall and inevitable that he will have to wait for those other options. This is a way to bide his time, earn some income and keep developing, mostly Melody, but also some DMD on the side.

The biggest question marks on a new site are their rules, longevity, and payment options. I think the speculation is right and that PayPal may not be the best option due to not supporting porn. Thus a new site would have to have payment structures outside of PayPal, while using a system that is easily accessible in all countries.

By the time a new platform presents itself, how many patrons will be lost? A lot of the people that pledged to him were there for the incest and loli characters (not gonna knock it). Melody seems like a hard left turn from DMD, for obvious reasons, but it does run the risk of driving away the more hardcore fetish fans. Until a new platform presents itself, or until MrDots takes matters into his own hands, everything rests on thin ice. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Melody turns out to be a Patreon pleasing money maker, enough that it allows MrDots to keep Patreon at bay while continuing with DMD.

No. DMD is staying on ice for a while after 0.17 so they can focus on Melody. I don't expect to see DMD back until the summer... maybe earlier if Patreon numbers tank... Hell, maybe never if Melody is a success.

One stop-gap idea--if there's nothing better available, oc--is to do a "fun" DMD Appreciation gallery (similar to the 0.14 Achievements gallery). The F/D full sex scene would NOT be part of this of course. But some fan-service for the more extreme fetish players (3-somes, 4-somes, x-somes, etc) would be. Funding could be similar to what is planned for new players and 0.17 (pay-per-download site).
This would be mid-April or May IF DMD 0.18 still seems to be delayed.

I really don't think this is a good idea.

"Hey guys, here are some images of scenes you really want to see, but aren't happening because we're not working on this game! That'll be $5".

I would kind of agree if you hadn't said "Pay-Per-Download", but even then it's kind of sketchy. He's already keeping his Patreon that he build on DMD, don't encourage him to milk it further without actually working on the project.

Sorry I haven't had a chance to reply yet. Been busy as hell trying to get another update out this week.

I think Melody looks ok, but I think she looks a little cartoonish. We are trying to use as much Iray "photoreal" as possible. And with each release we're learning more about how to make that better and more consistent.

I mean, Mr. Dots was one of our inspirations. My only hesitation about this new game, is that DMD was such a sloooooooooooow burn. I worry it will be the same. We swore we would never do that in any of our stories.

Still, I'll remain a Patron of his and can't wait to see what he rolls out with.

And if it's quicker than DMD, the story and the slowness and heart of it was part of the attraction to me (though, while storywise, the call-back to wherever the mom is, makes sense, it really threw off the pacing and made the last few updates a lot less fun)

I refuse to be a patron. The Patreon set-up is such a bad business deal for patrons and I am COMPLETELY averse to such deals. As well, getting pulled through an emotional wringer by strangers is just too much for me.
But I truly respect patrons and wish them well. They are a joy to the community.
But your hopes of 2-3 months before DMD 0.18 seem misplaced. It very much looks like some devs (BB,DMD) negotiated being allowed to deliver their patrons an update AFTER the game itself had been nuked on Patreon. As a once-and-done. After DMD 0.17, there is no good way--let alone ideal--for Dots to release DMD 0.18. He would have to change the studio name and recruit NEW patrons.

Been pinching myself to make sure this is RL--I was balls-deep into cryptos but got completely clear of the carnage...

I would definitely wait until next week to play our game. We'll have v0.7.1 hopefully around Sunday/Monday. It'll include some heavier story and our first robust sex scene with more options than we've included to date.

Behind the scenes we are starting to get our model straight on how to manage all of the dialogue options and the impact they have on future scenes. So we want the next sequences to be really complex so we can stress test the model.

One of MrDots’ team just confirmed she’ll be a C-Cup, and something about trying to avoid going too big like some had thought with D.
I think it’s a good move as it gives variety and not everyone liked how big D’s tits were. And if Melody is a much taller girl, then she would look ridiculous if she’d also has the presumed double-D’s that the daughter has had in DMD. (Man, that’s a lotta D’s in that post !)
