Noticed in his information notice how very Politically Correct he make the whole article sound. I am sure MrDotts hated writing it. I mean "Will you be that guy that wins Melody's heart and has her singing to her own tune again? Is it possible that you and Melody can make beautiful music together one day?" he would have put this way differently in teh past.

It's a very neutered letter to us all. I understand to a point Patreon's stance on porn in general and everything that goes along with it, it's just too much.

Character design is good. But This sounds like another milking lesson quite honestly. If it's even slightly faster pace than DmD, it will probably feel slow. I figure at least a year before any sex with the girl probably longer.

Incest does not have to be the biggest attraction in a game. Innocence and sensuality can be very attractive selling points. Done correctly though. I think this is what he is trying to achieve with the Melody game.

still no one has answered me, why he cant just make some fake ass game for patreon, add 2 images per update, and focus on DMD which to distrubute somewhere else ?
as for the new game, dont know how anyone can be opimistic really. proably its gonna be pretty much the same as DMD just with cut out incest (which was major selling point) again gonna wait a year+ till you get some h scenes. and that is if patreon doesnt f*Ck him up more, or his patrons get tired of the dev and ditch him, thus abandoning everything

New game sounds really good. At this point plot is sensible and music is something interesting to base on. And quite original. The main issue with DMD and all these incest games is that they make completely no sense except for a kinky fantasy and that's totally not immersive for me. Not to say that Melody looks endlessly better than D's standard model with head-size boobs which is used in many games. I always see this almost retarded face from MOTH's page (she suppose to wink in a sexy manner?) when I look at D. Can't wait to test this one. I don't like how there is no numeracy in versions but I can deal with that

I wonder if we'll get a scene like the one in A wife and a mother (by the way, if you haven't played that, you should check it out, it's fantastic (but a very slow buildup)) where the guy spends a very long time explaining how the guitar and chords work. Hopefully not.

IMHO MrDots game Melody is a lot more palatable than DarkSilver game Glamour. Plus if DMD still gets made I am ready to support him. My preference would be a game with a father corrupting like 3 daughters and their friends while they are in high school, but since that ain't happening AT ALL, I do like DMD and Elena and Jennifer and the thought of Elena AND Jennifer... So hopefully this Melody game goes well.

Agree. Sweet Melody sounds better. Melody isn't bad but that way you can write SM after game is well-known.
Weird question cuz there is someone from team here: Will there be any sound in Melody? I rarely listen to sounds in such games but I wonder if game built around music will have some music in it.

I'm somewhat pessimistic as well. Even MrDots's recent posts get my spider-sense tingling. First it's "DMD will be finished no matter what" and then "We will start focusing our energy on the new project after we release v.17."....

I'm not pessimistic I think, I just can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, a way it'd work out for DMD when it's taking a backseat. Dots said focus will shift from DMD to this new project, DMD itself is no longer monetized, so if the project fails, DMD will not be updated since Dots is pretty Patreon dependant so he needs a working project there, and if the project succeeds, then there'll be a reason for Dots to focus on that even more, which means a chance of him abandoning DMD completely. Not that I'd blame him, he has to make a living, but yeah. Sad times.

I absolutely agree with both of you. One more remarkable sentence: "...we will have to focus on the new game, DMD won’t be updated for a while so I thought maybe we should include some of the content that was going to be included in v0.18..." (R.I.P. v.18)
MrDots is very smart. All of his maneuvers (announcements and others) served only one purpose (IMO): to keep as many patrons as possible until the new project starts. And than - if the new project will be successful - no hope or any chance for DMD.
I'm very disappointed now. I'm really sorry, but I can't trust him anymore...

This is the lead DMD writer replying to a poster, "Endless", who asked about future plans for DMD.
The word "ideal" is dreadful news. It's like someone entering a negotiation unwilling to make any concession whatsoever.
This stubborn mindset has to change--by other devs as well--or Patreon just tramples us all.

agree with you,i don't plan to cancel my pledge to mrdots but i'd be a lot happier to send the payment directly to him rather through patreon after all this shit
only way i'd be happy with dmd update,lets say one update in 3 months,is that amount of content "covers" the other two months,it would be underwhelming to get one update in few months with the same amount of content he's been delivering until now

You do realize that no one thought Patreon would be banning fetish heavy games and content the first time around right? Just because they haven't done it yet doesn't mean they won't. You may be right, they may never fully ban adult content, but then again you could be wrong and it's just a matter of time. Especially if these devs try and secretly keep producing their banned games while using their Patreon friendly games to continue generating revenue.

At the end of the day Patreon is a business, and like most businesses sooner or later they won't want to be associated with porn. Jack Conte has made it clear that he doesn't endorse nor support porn content of any kind on Patreon. They tolerate it now, it's only fair to assume that they won't in the near future.

I agree. I think this might be MrDots best option atm. Toe the line for a little bit with this game until a better alternative comes up, like one of the new sites that are being proposed.

I also think that since this happened, MrDots is not naive to the longevity of porn games on Patreon. I think he knows the writing is one the wall and inevitable that he will have to wait for those other options. This is a way to bide his time, earn some income and keep developing, mostly Melody, but also some DMD on the side.

The biggest question marks on a new site are their rules, longevity, and payment options. I think the speculation is right and that PayPal may not be the best option due to not supporting porn. Thus a new site would have to have payment structures outside of PayPal, while using a system that is easily accessible in all countries.

I refuse to be a patron. The Patreon set-up is such a bad business deal for patrons and I am COMPLETELY averse to such deals. As well, getting pulled through an emotional wringer by strangers is just too much for me.
But I truly respect patrons and wish them well. They are a joy to the community.
But your hopes of 2-3 months before DMD 0.18 seem misplaced. It very much looks like some devs (BB,DMD) negotiated being allowed to deliver their patrons an update AFTER the game itself had been nuked on Patreon. As a once-and-done. After DMD 0.17, there is no good way--let alone ideal--for Dots to release DMD 0.18. He would have to change the studio name and recruit NEW patrons.
