i don’t see how he is milking patrons when he put a stop to taking pledges for February while he has to:

- work on DMD v.17 to push out to January patrons
- figure out another alternative to Patreon
- work on that second project and then submit to Patreon so they can approve
- answer hundreds if not thousands of messages from confused patrons and non patrons, most of whom are giving unworkable solutions or telling him to fight the power and risk his livelihood
- get the dmd sites up and online

i would guess the people making some of the accusations have never had their livelihood threatened. that situation can make you head crazy. i’m not trying to defend the dev here but you gotta look at it from his POV. the same old same old no longer applies and he’s gotta adapt to survive.

at any rate we got 16.5 uncensored coming this week, maybe some previews of his second project, and the long awaited v.17 coming next Wednesday. things to be grateful for!

ah i hate that phrase so much,milking...
you would think that people would cancel their pledge if they feel mrdots is slacker and is not delivering what he promised, about 4000 people before patreon ban must have been complete morons to not realize that they have been nothing else but milked all this time, myself included...

CCBill does clearly refer to local, federal and state laws in their TOS which would very likely exclude underage content, incest, rape, etc. aswell. Especially since CCBill does cooperate with credit card providers etc. who will likely insist on lawful behavior once things get too big. LoP is basically just a normal fetish porn website which of course doesn't have the same issues a page that explicitly allows illegal content would have.

In general it's all relative. Will you get some money? Yes. Will you get as much as you could? No. Could you spend your time developing a good game that suits the TOS and earn the same or more? Yes.

Things would of course change if patreon were to ban more adult content but that doesn't seem the case right now.
don't think credit card companies care that much.. dlsite has plenty of incest, rape.. and more extreme stuff.. but they are japanese site.. i think its a small option the devs should try, will not be monthly billing but would still be some cash flow to the content banned on patreon

edit: patreon might need this
since they think Jennifer is a problem as well IIRC

Milking is an abhorrent phrase in this context. I think people need reminding of what Patreon is some times.

Patreon is about Supporting. Every penny that a dev takes from patreon is a donation from people who want to support their work. No Patron is being held at gunpoint and forced to give money and they can stop at any time.
It is no secret that some of the more popular devs have a knack of making it look like they are doing more than they really are, but people still support them because they enjoy their work.

You would have to be a colossal moron to give up your full time job and make patreon your only source of income, because in the blink of an eye it can all disappear, as some of the more popular devs are now discovering.

Hello peeps, im new to the game and on my first playthrough in chapter 1, on day 6 before the dinner with secretary there was an option for Georgina to masterbate first, and for some reason the game always crashes at that scene. Anybody else with similar problems?

And that is different to most other self-employed/independent jobs how? Especially in the creative industry Patreon is far from the worst choice when comes to making a living.

As a private attorney, you have to take money from the “cash rich months” - and bank it away for the “cash poor months.” I would think that any developer on a roll would do the same, and quit their day job knowing they had a couple months cushion just in case the Patreon hits the fan.

The game could have been finished a long time ago. He milked this project so much and now it likely won't even finish smh

Mr. Dot:
So, that’s basically what’s happening guys. We will finish all the content we had planned for this update (v0.17), and then we’ll focus on the new game for a while.

Until the dust settles we have no other choice but to comply with Patreon and wait. We don’t want to rush the ending of the game either. Maybe a good Patreon alternative may become available in the next few months, who knows? But for now, we want to play this carefully and not make any rushed decisions that could mean the end of our games.

It’s you the fans that keep us going, and if DMD had been completed already, this new project that we’ve begun working on would’ve been the game we would have followed up with. So due to the unfortunate circumstances, we’ve started on it a lot earlier than we have previously planned! But we also hope that you will support us on our new project or at least try it out to begin with.

So yeah chances are between 0.0 and 0.1 that this game ever finishes it is what it is

If things stay as they are : MrDots stays at Patreon ; Patreon continues its anti-porn crusade ; no reasonable Patreon funding platforms are found. Then yes, the chances of MrDots doing a DMD continuation after 0.17 seem very slim.
But now calculate what are the chances that things stay as they are? Damn close to zero, agreed? DMD has been and can still be a money-maker for either MrDots or a different studio in future.
So I'd be willing to say that there is almost zero chance that DMD will be completely and forever cancelled. It may take a different direction/form but it is NOT FINISHED...
Why wouldn't things stay as they are? Patreon made the guidelines for a reason. They are not going to expose themselves from a legal standpoint.

Mr Dot has shown zero desire to work outside of patreon maybe if his new game flops he'll circle back

I think the sad truth is with all this Patreon nonsense going on, you could read that quote in February next year and with a slight date alteration it would still be true.
If DMD was staying at Patreon then you may be correct, but Mr Dots has already said he will be taking DMD to a different location and he has created a website for it.
There is no reason to think that the game will not progress given the move to a new site.

She looks like loli.

I won't be at all surprised if Patreon will ban MrDots next game.
If you read between the lines (which most people don't), then with everything that Patreon has put the devs through whom they have reviewed in recent months, MrDots would've had to have this character and any new storyline approved first. Which probably explains why there was such a delay with him updating his Patreon page after all the DMD stuff was taken down. Looks like he's been given the all clear to me.
