Hey guys, srsly.. is unreal better than unity?
I want to make a game, but I keep hearing unity is worse than unreal.. and I don't understand why ppl say that.. it's kind of like the blender vs 'any expensive program'(maya for example)
I do know that unreal has the blueprint thing now.. I guess that is kind of cool.. I do know programming sort of.. I started in C++ but then I used a bit of other ones including C#.. it's been a while since I did all that though, but C++ doesn't scare me or anything like that.. I just used Java and C# more in classes and stuff later.. and less C++, until I didn't use it much anymore..
pretty confusing honestly..
well I'm curious if
D-E-V-O-L-U-T-I-O-N might even be able to tell me anything if not too busy..
Sry that I kinda late but I just come here to check if game got updated and saw this post.
For many games I played through. It totally about ur coding skills. Those EFT, Green Hell, Subnatica, Rust, The Forest series etc. are Unity games and what I see in common is that texture are like not high res even I saw on their Unity Game Developers Conference showcase unlike Unreal and lighting like u know it is Unity when u see it for me
Unreal I find that it more photo realistic and I think it more of if u want pro work big project or something this will do
Of course if u plan to make cartoony sprite actual 2D game Unreal and Unity can too but if u like plan to jumpscare people from 2D cartoon sexy sprite girl to hyper realistic 3D all of sudden then I would vote for Unreal.
example of game I found interest is
World War Z that Unreal game mange to render like over 1000 zeds was suprise me but I do notice zombie diff about them when they "swarm" they called was coming in. They act like water with some of them are actual zeds that hunt u. I think that how awesome skill in dev game like that are to able to create fake zeds like that wont destroy someone PC . They make it that they are like water. No special AI stuff to destroy 1 PC and all they can do is destroy certain thing.
Character model etc are playing big role cuz u seeing all the time but if gameplay good I guess that can be look over
Just for me tho. I play game cuz it is GAME. me not play to watch movie
Oh and lighting too
but u can like go to diff style like these game from solo dev or indie team
Out Of Action (Legit solo dev and it loook good. His going for Cyberpunk Ghost in shell vibes and gameplay of QUAKE, Action something mod that playing like that, Ui look good too)

for porn game I saw with Unreal was Lifeplay with dev not artist but programmer soo game look cheap and other I forget there names but they got animal people breeding farm and another game is animal people in egypt style. Those I can play fine too but I got tired of running across the world to do this and go back 5 km on foot to that.
and last I want to say is that it all about your skills.
Once you good at coding the game you want you also have to learn art too. It will big butt pain if you want to draw sexy thicc stuff for 2D instead
but 3D
you will lost artistic value of them UNLESS you trickly play lighting effect stuff with them wish I rarely see any good game with character look good cuz lighting. I think that egypt game got some lighting but that more like cut scene for sex stuff
