The outskirts and swamp maps are linked and you can enter either and come out the other. The main map you start in is new to 15 and you just have to explore and get used to it a bit. The map is not very user friendly, but I believe it is supposed to be pretty basic so that you only have an idea of the layout. Sorta like DayZ, I just had to explore and get used to it so that I don't need the map after a time.
As far as what you're supposed to do... whatever you want. There are no goals or tasks yet. Personally, I created a persona of Ivy that is obsessed with fucking tentacles after the first one graped her. Scared at first, then wanted nothing more. Kinda like Lara with Horse where she clearly gets hurt, but ultimately she likes it and keeps coming back for more.
Seems like the game as is is also way too difficult for no reason, enemies hit you incredibly easily because they just spam full auto, once they hit you they kill your arm stamina, which already is way too short as is, you're not rewarded for a headshot either, the whole game is basically hiding from people since starting a firefight is almost always a bad idea, which sounds contradictory to the entire game designed as an extraction shooter to me.

At first, I was also very angry because of the mechanics of the heroine's weakness and the subsequent loss of weapons! But after certain actions, I was able to overcome difficulties. Namely, it is necessary to pass the lock over and over again, where you get over the fence and kill bandits. From what fell out and from the boxes, I collect weapons. I sell the rest. And so you need to do 10+ times. Until you switch to composite. At the same time, do not forget, the character has 2 weapons. I did the first with a submachine gun, and the second with a sniper rifle. And only after that, I began to study the entire map. Now it has become much more fun to pass it!

It really is insanely difficult at first especially for those of us that do not seek out games with this level of difficulty outside of porn games. I hear a lot of references to Tarkov but I never played that. Use the cheats to get used to things; the layout, the enemies, the environment, etc. Then you can back off some of them once you get the hang of it. The enemies are pretty basic once you get used to them. Still difficult, but without surprises making it easier to kill them. It REALLY helps once you get a composite weapon too. The scrap weapon you can use at first is really really weak by comparison and, yes, headshots may not even take them down at first. Using .308 ammo will not allow autofire and instead you are limited to semi-auto, but that ammo is powerful and can one shot kill sometimes just hitting an arm or a leg.

Don't play this game entirely like Tarkov. It's a scaled down version of it. Use your money wisely and focus not only on your weapon, but also your clothes, meds, and especially, painkillers. Learn to cycle your abilities efficiently and the shrubs for stealth. I can really only recommend you look at Dishonored and kind of mimic the same stealth playstyle. And don't be afraid to use homemade ammo. It is effective if used properly. I was even able to escape 8 corporates from the north side of Outskirts just by using my stun and dumping mags into their head.

The game just gets easier by simply playing it and learning. Knowing the mechanics in any game is what makes a pro; in Chess, you play thousands of games and analyze moves and patterns to win. This game and basically every other game is the same.

This is a really helpful guide, but I'd like to add a few things.

Firstly, taking long range fights is really useful in surviving, but if you're still early in the game, I'd go for cheap scrap parts and a modern/composite suppressor, mag dumping homemade ammo on unsuspecting enemies. this works well combined with stun and is how you'll want to take down corpos.

Secondly, you're really supposed to know how to use your abilities effectively, especially in the higher difficulties. If you're playing on Easy and even Medium, one FMJ intermediate cartridge to the head will kill your normal scav/raider.

Lastly, Don't be afraid to fight too much. Obviously you shouldn't be spending thousands of bullets like Touhou, but taking those fights and clearing the map/s will reward you with some bad loot up to really good loot. I rarely bought any equipment from traders because I always fought corpos, which are where most spawn in Highway.

If you're a new player who justs wants the sex feature, go god mode and surrender a bunch of times. If you want to play Tarkov, you can download an older version of SPT AKI from repacks. But if you want to play this game, then just have fun with it.

Once you get more experience you can go into a stand-up fight against several enemy at the same time and then the game will get easier. Yes, the random perfect hits from across the map are an irritating BS, I agree, but the game is too easy otherwise. 14 was harder.

The ammo drops are too plentiful, so is money, even on hardcore setting. I have no problem paying for surgeries, plus upgrading my guns.

I've upped the damage multiplier to 2.1x, refuse to use silencers, deliberately hampering myself by sticking to scrap bolt and the game is still mostly too easy.

I wish it were possible to change drops quality and enemy spawn rates.

You also need to increase the survivability of enemies, give them armor and first aid kits!

There still is the UploadHeaven link. It might take some time but its still free.
That free link is so bad that it'll take me more than 9 hours to download. I live in a third world country with not so good internet connection, by the way.
