Cat fishing is something completly different but like i said it would be a complete waste of time to discuss with you about the whole transsexual character. She didn't betray him, she didn't lie to him, the only thing she did was not telling that she is transsexual. Is that a crime? No. Did she betray the MC? No. Why did she do it? Fear of rejection? Very likely, which you could figure out if you would've followed the story.
