Shani is fairly boring. The desert raiders at least have agency are in command and actually do stuff. Shani took us on a fairly mundane boring walking sim through a building but to each his own.

She can be boring if you turn her into Ain 2.0. Zaton's house is already full of women with no purpose besides eye candy.
The devs can make great things with Shani if they want. Like her adventure in the last zone but adding sex scenes. Imagine Lara Croft in this setting, she can find some fuck buddy like the elf girl, be raped by raiders and so on.
In my opinion Desert Stalker doesn't benefit from the incest genre at all. Maybe the tag can attract incest fanatics but the best parts of the game are Zaton adventures with the raiders, the Queen, the mutants... You don't want to waste time at home when the world out there has so much to offer.

It's gonna sound incredibly misogynistic (because it is) but that's the reason I don't usually go for female protag games.
I want to play the guy that's using, not the girl that's getting used.
It's incredibly hard to balance that in a game like this. If you let Shani get fucked (or worse, without consent) by anyone the NTR police will trow a hissy fit. If you don't let her have any action her scenes will look like superfluous filler. There's some kind of wiggle room if it's a lesbian scene but that's basically it.

I don't care that much about Shani but the devs can make rape scenes or whatever with her. It shouldn't be an issue because several girls can be fucked by others already. Fairy was the sex toy of some decayed not so long ago.

Sure, there were less sexual interactions than Zaton generally has in his adventures, but that's fine with me. And definitely better than the alternatives. It's the problem with strong female protagonists in a porn game:
- I don't want Shani to get raped. If it happens, it should be avoidable.
- I don't want Shani to have mindless sex with random characters
- I don't want Zaton to loan out Shani to friends as a fucktoy like with Ain, that feels out of character for Shani
- I do want Shani to have lesbian encounters with the Queen, other harem members (especially Ain), as well as with other female characters
- I do want Shani to have sex with Zaton
- I might tolerate Shani getting involved with a worthy male marriage candidate, but I feel that depends on her relationship with the Queen

I do think it would be appropriate if she had her own sexual agency, but it would need to make sense. Depending on your choices, she's either still a virgin or you deflower her right before she enters the zone. If the latter, that was a big moment for Shani. She's wanted what her sister has had all this time and finally got it. It wouldn't make much sense for her to finally have that moment with MC and then go into the zone and turn into a turbo slut.
