i liked the game it´s pretty good, but when i was playing i was on high hopes for phantom thief and damn her story and scenes was too short. It would be better if she had more story and scenes.

So do the different ways to complete jobs change the results at all? Or is it just to make them easier? For example, the Old Man's chest. I can complete it instantly by answering a few simple questions or I can wait until I level up my Lockpicking or Eloquence first. There is also the Junk Vendor who has options for Eloquence and Allure. Will there be different scenes or something? I want to see everything, so I'm not sure if I should wait.

this game is somewhat a sandbox game, in other words you can play it in whatever route order you wish. The shortcuts for certain quest are just there for if you happen to meet the requirements for it. Since everyone plays it at a different pace or route they will all be able to reach the same conclusion. So go ahead and do it the long way or drag till you can afford the shortcuts, speedrun through the main story and unlock side CGs later on etc. Doesn't matter.

If you are that worried about missing H scenes u can literally just go into the recollection rooms to see what the game has to offer. Most side quest only offer detective points and money, there isn't a "whole lot" of H content tbh since most are just chain quests from the same npc gated by "reason" value like majority of HRPGs out there.

This game is their second best game?
And Salvation is their first?

Civilian Justice League 2 had a public reputation system and impregnation mechanics.

Liz & Tower Town had publicly random sex encounters with significantly more events than any other game plus a unique item gathering/crafting system.

Hypnosis Aristocrat allowed you to mind control adventurers or go out and be one yourself as you slowly strengthen your mind control powers and eventually make yourself the ruler of the town you live in.

If we count Salvation as the top, that makes Detective Girl their 5th best game bro. Unless you think Detective Girl somehow beats ALL of these games, even though it lacks features they all had.

Detective Girl has no impregnation, no item gathering/crafting to raise public affinity, no mind control mechanics leading to literally usurping your uncle as Town Noble.

All Detective Girl has is a tomboy protagonist.
Yeah, I agree that this isn't their best work, but after replaying most of their titles-had to re-download the games-the game that this reminds me most of is Civilian Justice League.
It's got a lot of the same issues, but not quite as bad in a lot of cases, as this one:
-Main Girl has small boobs.
-Very little recognition of MC's descent into sluttiness outside of actual scenes.
-Some scenes just about REQUIRE a guide to unlock.
-The stuff they do seem to do best-slutty pregnancy, outfit corruption, exhibitionism, making 'society' react to obvious sluttiness-seems tacked-on or is just missing entirely.

I have to admit that this is a better GAME than a lot of their other works(well on the police route, anyhow), but I'm hoping that this one just ends up being a 'prologue' of sorts to a much more interesting project, much like CJL kinda ended up being.

I don't think its a better game. The criminal route for example just boils down to killing enemies, running out of danger zone, recharging your energy points, then killing some more.

As opposed to both of the Civilian Justice League games which had mech upgrades, financial incentives, and all sorts of awesome stuff.

Hence why I specified the police route. The Gang route doesn't feel as tacked-on as most of the porn, but it's clear that most of their effort went into the fairly shallow deductive gameplay on the police route. To clarify what I meant earlier; The police route is a game that I'd willingly play once, without the porn. None of the other clymenia games felt worth the gameplay if the porn wasn't there. Which is fine. That's what I come to Clymenia games for, but at the same time, I'm going to give them credit for some gameplay that stands on its own sans tits, even if that's not what I came for.

I think that one of the best praises one can give to the porn game is that it's actually doesn't need porn to be interesting. And I am happy to say that this game is worth playing even in "full pure mod". Interesting story, numerous possibilities to solve cases depending on protagonist skills and choices, driven (and sexy, but that is another matter) protagonist, exiting gameplay... I feel that even steampunk elements aren't really needed there for the compelling experience. Overall, for me, Detective Girl of the Steam City stands not only above any other Clymenia game I have seen so far, but above most porn games in general! Bravo, I am trully impressed!

There are some problems, of course, but those are pretty minor and aren't worth mentioning, aside from two:

1) Sadly, the game is rather short and not all skills are utilised to their full potential. I would be happy to see extensions with more cases, more plot and more uses for the existing skills.
2) The porn element of the game is good, but doesn't really suited for this protagonist. What I mean is that all this degradation system is great for someone you want to degrade, but the protagonist of this game isn't one of them. And that means that the player have to either limit the scope of the porn content he is seeing or watch as this great character is spoiled. I think that it would be much better to let such protagonist perfom all those lewd acts without harming her sanity and reason.

Despite all that, I feel not only that this game is great in itself, but that is, maybe, new and exiting direction for the Clymenia games or porn games in general waiting for us. And I, for one, am happy to greet this new direction.

Some of it suits the character imo, the public baths scene, specificaly the first one where they are after the criminal I think that works well with her character, she knows its wrong to go in but doesn't want to not be there when the guy is caught so goes in anyway, the prison stuff goes well she is doing it to catch the abusive staff, the scene with the runaway husband she likes the guy.
