@Pattitto00 @iloveupls
I might need a save to check that out.
There is a difference between stating a preference and expressing issues with the implementations of a mechanic (i.e. a choice) and handling them the same isn't really fair as some people might actually put thought into criticism.
Handling something the same way doesn't mean it induce the same effect.
As I said earlier the more someone can show me their opinion is sound the more interest I take in it.
And "expressing issues with the implementations of a mechanic" is an opinion.
It's cute that you're trying to call me out on wording, but in the very quote you used, I did use the word "choice".
Don't care if you used the word afterward. Having a project taking a toll on you is not a fault, it's a choice.
See, I wouldn't say Giordano Bruno made a fault to go all the way with his work. Even if it took quite the toll on him.
What exactly did you mean by this?
You say "no point" I give you a point, you even find it valid it. So, I win.
Honestly, I don't think there would be much fourth-wall breaking if, when offered the choices, we had some text between brackets next to them warning it's an exclusive choice.
It's good to see that someone care about that poor fourth-wall.
It's one of the key point I try to preserve along consistency.
Take like the suggestion from
@Pattitto00 of adding a scene counter in the gui and by extension more stats on the girl status.
When it comes to the UI I get really touchy with about those subject. With the SMS system I made what is I think my best GUI so far, well it's not really much of a challenge since I suck at making those so when something look right it's already on the top of my list.
So I had to make an UI that :
- looked good
- I could make
- made sense with the rest of the game
The first two item lead to the inevitable (for me) flat design. I love it. And I can do it.
But how to integrate in the game was an other question.
I weighted the idea of having of having the UI inside a phone screen. There is now multiple game that use that kind of UI, and while I don't think it's bad I don't think it meshes well with a HUD if the phone itself is not the HUD.
Also the game is more often that not viewed in third person.
So if I wanted to be true to my ideas I needed to make the UI in line to the rest of the game.
So having a 1st person view for an UI but having an abstract HUD and a 3rd person view during events was not possible for me.
So I went for something that remind the look of the phone yet is abstract and with the same color scheme as the rest of the UI.
Currently the only pieces of the game that are problematic are the legacy parts. Those I did not yet made obsolete with a new system or those I made to work exactly as the old. An example would be the location list to jump. First I made it so it would mimic the old one perfectly.
With the last update I partially updated it to allow for jumping to the dean's office and gym from anywhere.
I did that because with the new events in the dean's office it was needed to be able to access them in the evening and it when the school would be inaccessible.
So I changed it and made it work with the meetup with Kara before pinking her.
I don't change the old stuff before needed. I already rewritten the game logic once, before I had the necessary knowledge to have a clear idea of how to update it.
I digressed a little bit. Anyway, any fourth-wall breaking will be to be extremely well justified and done.
But that doesn't mean we cannot add a warning without breaking it.
And, on the other hand, it would be really helpful to avoid doing the same thing over and over again expecting some action to re-activate the second option (I lost quite some time with Lola trying to get her back to the gym to inject the pink serum, trying to increase her affection and corruption to get to that point, before I decided to look into this forum if it was a bug or a feature).
The goal is to make every event only needed once.
While the current stat system could be seen as useless then, it will still have an use in the long term.
Seeing as how the girls' paths are quite parallel, once you are aware of the hard forks, you can always create separate saves to explore them (it's what I did with Lola).
Exactly, the current lack of interaction between the girl is also a blessing since it means the branches are not entwined.
However, I would like to point out (not sure if it was done, but with so many messages, I have a hard time checking) that, once Lola has been injected the green (morphing) serum, she is still with her previous body in the stripclub. Not only should she be different, but, depending on the progression of the Kara/Lola scenes, she should also react differently during the private dance.
Also, the text about Lola on the phone should be updated, whatever serum we use, to reflect how much she has changed: she is no longer hostile towards the MC.
She doesn't change either after getting injected some pink.
We chose to temporary keep the stripclub events available even if they are not matching the current stage.
Thanks for reporting it, but this time it's voluntary.
