I was thinking about it, and I'm really disappointed that nothing ever came out of Morgan catching the MC and Tamara fooling around in the pool. That three-way relationship seemed to have a lot of potential but it went nowhere. Remove that scene from the game and nothing changes.

I love the art and story of this game. But the MC is very unlikeable from start to finish.
Yeah, I felt the same way, although it's a common trope in these games. It's particularly jarring for me in this one because all of the female characters are so fleshed out compared to a lot of other games, but the MC and Dennis are two-dimensional.

I was hoping at least for a scene where the MC is with Morgan, teasingly refers to her as his sister, and she just totally loses it and for the next few minutes goes completely against her type and roleplays as a submissive little sister. But Morgan watching the MC having sex with Tamara before joining in herself would have been awesome. Or maybe somehow the rumor about the MC making a porn video actually becomes him filming an "incest" audio with Morgan while Tamara records it before joining them for a wrap party afterward. Maybe Morgan desperately needs money for some reason, and comes to the MC because of his supposed porn background, and the rest just flows from there. Of course, it would probably end up that it was Dennis paying for the video, but for the first time I'd like him.

I think the crew over at love-Joint learned a lot from this game, and that will help with the narrative in the future. Overall, I think this game was a huge step forward from the surprise success of DFD- and that huge step forward came with growing pains. I didn't think the MC was too bad, but he never rounded the corner to becoming an active hero. I think they really nailed the idea that the MC is emotionally fragile and vulnerable because of the events on the mountain. I think they took that idea very seriously, and that meant that the MC wasn't going to just get over it quickly or easily. The problem was that the logical outcome of the MC's trauma was that he's a wreck and not a whole lot of fun to be around.

I think a lot of concurrent ideas all evolved to work against them when it comes to the narrative. They tackled a serious narrative (much more serious than DFD), ramped up the threat of the antagonist, tried to create a mysterious/shady environment to set the story, created a wide array of characters to romance, all while keeping to the monthly releases and to the classic subject mater that Palmer was known for. But in my opinion, all of these ideas took on a life of their own. I think from a structural standpoint the game needed to be refocused, but by the time that was clear it was too late. The people over at Love Joint all seem super cool, and they're going through a tough time right now, so I don't say any of this to criticize, I say it as an observation because they seem aware of the shortcomings. This is probably why the last two episodes (whenever Episode 19 comes out) were so big, I think they really had to shift gears and take on a new mindset to wrap up the story. I think the structure of future games will be very different.

As for Morgan, I really did think that we were going to get some more teasing/sexual tension between her and Tamara. However, after saying all the things I just said I suppose it was probably a good idea that they didn't introduce yet another plot point. In hindsight, the whole pool scene probably shouldn't have been written, but it was hot and at the time it was a really great idea. But I don't think they would have been able to really develop it given all the other balls they had in the air, so it's probably best they just dropped it.

Oh most definitely. I was just tired of the MC constantly beating himself up, and feeling sorry for himself. As for Dennis... He is like Team Rocket to me, he is in there for the comedy, and gets beaten somewhat easily. Though Chapter 19 seems promising and I really hope he does something to really piss me off.

Personally, I wouldn't compare Dennis to Team Rocket. Maybe early on, but as the game has gone on Dennis has shown himself to actually be dangerous. It's actually one of the issues with the game, the tone is inconsistent. Dennis is both a loser and a joke, but can also be very dangerous and manipulative. It actually creates a great antagonist, but for a lewd game it's a big undertaking. I don't think DH ever found a consistent tone for its story. There were a lot of good elements to the story, and the scene to scene writing was good, and I liked taking on a serious subject matter, but I think the story's broader concept needed to be ironed out more. Again, I say this with only respect because the crew over there is really great, but I wouldn't compare Dennis to Team Rocket when his end goal is rape.

I was not speaking in all aspects, of course. I think you overanalyzed what I was saying a little bit. Obviously, he is dangerous and manipulative but.. nothing that the MC and friends can handle.

The MC and his friends haven't been handling Dennis though. At best, the MC got off a few clever remarks against him. Some of the girls used him to make the MC jealous, although that was before we knew more about Dennis. Other than that, it's been the MC and his romantic interests being more and more controlled and threatened by Dennis. Dennis has the financial resources to both have access to a yacht and a helicopter, plus the presumed criminal influence to have it filled with an insanely expensive amount of illegal drugs. This isn't a the run-of-the-mill spoiled kid whose parents are well off. I'm not sure how things can be resolved in the final update to make Dennis no longer a threat. Based on what we've seen it sounds like he could fairly easily have the MC's apartment planted with drugs right before a search warrant was issued, or arrange for an "accidental" overdose for anyone, among other mischief he could cause. I don't see the MC beating him up, or giving him a stern lecture, or really anything putting the threat of Dennis to rest unless they're somehow able to also strip Dennis of all of his power, and do so in a way that doesn't feel like a cop-out. So it will be interesting to see how they handle this in the next update.
