You've not looked at the review-tab beside the discussion-tab for this game then? The one right below the tags? :/
  1. Literally anyone can walk in this thread and give 1-star to 5-star reviews, even without playing the game.
  2. Reviews on a game in its earlier builds are irrelevant, with everything that gets added/fixed daily.
When it'll be on Steam, those reviews I'll take to heart.

Alright, fair enough. I'm not looking to critizise your game, or accuse you of being a hack. From what I've seen personally, DtNH seems to play fairly well for an alpha. I also know that you're a competent developer, having played Princess and Conquest for over 40 hours on Steam and thoroughly enjoying your work. It's one of the reasons I took interest in this game from the start.

Still, there's a pervasive theme of the reviwers' issue with the game, and it has less to do with the quality of the game and the potential that it could be used to access files on someone's PC. I believe those complaints began rising after the introduction of the auto-updater, so I'm guessing that's the core of their complaint?

I just want some reassurance that this game isn't hiding some sort of security flaw. And I believe it'd be in your best interest to put down any such accusations as soon as possible. Just a simple "No, it doesn't access unrelated information" would go a long way in doing that. :)

The auto-updater simply download and replace game files that need updating.
Could it be used to make players download malicious files or dolphin porn? Yes.
Could the same thing be said about every single game on Steam? Yes.
Do I plan to drop it any time soon? No.
Am I responsible for links posted in piracy forums? Fuck. No.

You should not be that gullible, devs have a reputation these days for lying, shit talking gamers, screwing others in the industry and their customers/fans. Many of us have been burned by the video game industry for far too long, we are sick of it. There's a good reason why many turned to piracy.

Take a look at the reviews. Another example would be the "Luna In the Tavern" which is here on F95. We are not being dicks, many of us are just sick of it.
Oh believe me, I'm not so naïve as to think everything said here is the truth. I'm just trying to stay civil. I genuinely do like PaC, and Towerfag has a good run as far as game development goes, the issues with the Towergirl wiki notwithstanding, but that doesn't mean I'm not wary of what could come next. And sure, I have personal issues with how Patreon is used, and I've never used it or similar services to support an artist, but that's just my choice. If someone wants to donate/waste their money at some project, that's their choice. I'm not buying in until it's available on Steam at least, but that's just my guideline. I'm not gonna judge you for yours, unless you literally get nothing in return like a simp.

The point is, I'm sick of it too. But I want to have some hope, and a bit of civil discourse is an easy step in that direction, at least for me. And so far I've not had reason to suspect he's outright lying to us. Let him be a dick if he likes. It's not like we're much better ourselves. :D

Imagine supporting game#1 and discovering half of your support goes to game#2.
To each game its own budget.

I'm not the one being supported, the games are. 2 games, 2 different platforms.
yeah you also made money from that right ? more people play and support the game meaning more money you get. well i saw princess conquest and even there were people who even made a sex toy from that and that was a good job but for now this game still look bad. there were other great game who were in need of better supporting and hope people will see which one was more worthy of their money. after all everyone has their own taste and fetish. i am not saying people shouldn't support this game but if you have money there are better game out there who in need of the support which lack attention.

Your point being? Why should that concern me? Should I market someone else's game instead?

sorry, but my game is running at < 10 FPS, and i got a 1050, an RPGM game really should weight that much on it

i understand that the game has some performance issues, since it's still very early on development, but it simply doesn't feel natural

shadows are off, and render distance is below 50, and yet it runs so slow that it cannot proccess an input unless i press down the button for over a second

i still have to check if the game is running on the onboard GPU, since i'm playing it on a notebook

The game's obviously much heavier than standard RPGM games, due to the 3D "simulation" it runs. Still, I feel like 10 is way lower than what you should get. Does it improve if you lower the Render Distance to 25~30?

managed to fix it, for some reason it was running with the onboard GPU, had to manually change it to the 1050 on the NVIDIA control panel, it runs smoother now but End City still feels laggy at some sections and POVs

I did a review on the game earlier only for it to be censored by RedKnight00. Pretty petty if the dev was one to complain about my review. I see that mod may have nuked and silenced all the other reviews that rightly criticized the game.
I gave it a pretty good review and it got deleted too, so did another 5 star rating a few weeks ago. Also the only reviews showing up are 1 star ratings. How again are mods censoring negative reviews?

There was far more reviews here for this rpg maker game. My review was deleted under bs that it is a inappropriate review, most of those reviews also mentioned bugs just as I have.
If it's anything like the top review right now, it doesn't follow the review rules.

I see these rules broken constantly in reviews. Number 1 and 5 in particular are super common. The only rule I kind of disagree about is number 3. I think people need to be warned about bad developers and I don't understand that rule. If you don't want to score to be impacted by that, it's fine, but it's so important that I feel it needs to at least be mentioned if it's so bad that it causes issues with the game development (Not saying it does here, I dunno yet.). If a game is unlikely to be finished, that's something players should be warned about.

I really dislike when people review a game when it's in a super early alpha/beta stage. Wrote about this before, but most people don't go back and fix their reviews later. Go into most game threads that had early versions posted and scroll down through the reviews and you'll see people's talking about shit that doesn't even apply to the current version of the game anymore and it still affects the score. People voting on obvious early game bugs or the game's "potential", god. Every game has "potential" when it's barely started. How many fucking games I've seen with 5-15 minutes of gameplay at like 5% completion with 5 star ratings.

I wish there was a rule about games needing to be finished or near completion before reviews were allowed. Imagine if professional games had that shit happen to them. Everything would get a fucking 1-2 star early on.

Most people just don't know how to properly review something in a way that's helpful for the people looking at reviews. They just use the review function for the kind of shit they should be posting in the thread instead. Conversation topics aren't helpful for reviews. Your goal is to explain to people if the game is worth playing or not. How can you possibly do that when the game isn't complete or near complete? It's the equivalent of watching some random out of context takes of a movie that might not even make it into the final cut and judging the whole movie on that.

All that said: Forced updates sounds atrocious. Just because Steam does it, it doesn't mean it's okay. Pretty sure you can turn those off as well on Steam as well.
