Luckily, I don't get the same feelings from this game at all, despite the setbacks, he keeps plugging forward, I really don't see this game ending the same way, and we don't see the same, 'focus only on the incest' patterns.

2019-07-09 News Update

So here we are. Not where I want to be, but when things are out of your control, they're simply out of your control and you have to make due.

In the most un-ideal of circumstances, I'm being called out of town on business for the next couple of weeks. During that time, I'll have an opportunity to work on the game's story and coding, but rendering, the one thing that is holding up the current update, will not be happening.

You have been so generously patient with me and I would not dare ask you to wait until August for your update. Despite my attempts to scramble this week and get everything done, I have to face the reality that I just don't have the computing power to render out as much as I need to finish the chapter.

So here's what we're going to do. I'm finishing up the Lola sex and post sex scenes. This concludes Scene 04, the monster of a scene that has been the bear I've wrestled with for the last month. Once the renders are finished (approximately 16 hours from now) I'm going to wrap up post and get the code integrated and finished.

I'll release the first half of this chapter before I leave, and upon my return, promptly finish up the second half and get it out to you.

The second half will go much faster as it is predominately conversation and text with fewer angles, shots and locations than the first four scenes.

I'm not going to lie and say that this first half is going to be the feast you've been waiting for, but hopefully it'll stand as testimony to the work being done (the first half contains over 550 renders, has one optional transgender character, and you'll choose one of three possible paths through the scene which will impact your later game). It will feature a sexual encounter with Lita, or optionally if you prefer transgender content, Lola. And the new sex menus are implemented, tested, and working excellently.

Because of all the changes that have been made to the underlying code, you will have to download the entire game. But I have done everything I can to make sure your old saves work. I'm praying no bugs surface on that front.
However, after this update, patrons will have the option of just downloading the new content. So when I return from work and release the second half of this chapter, you will not need to re-download the whole game, but instead just the files needed for the new content.

I very much wanted to wait until the entire chapter was done and release it as one big push, but unfortunately the "real job blues" are relentless this time of the year.

To keep the renders going while I'm gone, I am going to try and set up a method of remoting into the desktop, but it's storm season here in the South U.S. and power interruptions are frequent and I'll have no way to reboot the system if that happens. So we'll see how much I can do away from the desk.

That's all for now, but you'll hear from me very shortly.

Cheers!

Most reasonable people understand to one extent or another that it's hard to estimate creative effort and I think that everyone should understand that this is a part-time passion project. I think that some people get upset when an implied contract (e.g. not delivering updates to donors on target dates) is not honored but I think most of us realize that your not estimating a roofing job.

Keep up the good work!
I agree. But I did have a run where I was giving estimates that I ended up not hitting. Part of this was due to unforeseen complications, others were simply me grossly over estimating what I could accomplish in a time frame.

I'm going to hold off on eta's for a few months until I've got some solo development time under my belt and more accurately put a date on things. But I appreciate the encouragement all the same! Thanks mate.

In my personal opinion, one of the issues is the amazing work that was done before. There were updates on the dot every two weeks, with a communication on the website every week and Roman could have made a rod for their own back in that respect.

When delays occur to this magnitude, its human nature for people to be saying "how comes I'm not getting what I was getting a few months ago".

Its only a minority of people that can sit back and try and understand
RomanHume's change of circumstances.

But then again, its fairly obvious that anyone that writes more than a couple of words is a true supporter, as the people who aren't just want a free porn game so dont bother to say more than "wheres the update"!!!
My community engagement has definitely been slipping, but again that's a result in the lack of time I have on project. When I have an hour or two available, I have to choose, do I scan the forums and patreon comments and write responses, or do I try to jam out another ten renders.

It's all about finding that balance that gets everything done efficiently. I know that after 200+ renders, I'm definitely faster at manipulating all of the elements in Daz needed for a good scene. So as experience builds I'm confident things will speed up as well.

I think before the year is done we'll be back to where we were with communication, updates, etc. I just have to get my stride.

The way i see it is the longer ppl have to wait for an update the harder it is to satisfy ppl, there come a point when you just have to take the fall and release something even if it isnt up to your standard like for example No Man Sky. It would of course be the dev decision to release it or not but by not releasing anything at all the hype and hope that the coming game version will have this and that, and when that hype and hope not met it could kill a game pretty quick lastest example of this is of course Anthem. i've followed the game since the start and i just want to say something before it either go to shit or become something like DmD, Milf city etc...
You're absolutely right. Because the longer you take to make a small update, the more people are let down. That's one reason I'm biting the bullet and just going to let loose the first half of this next update. With the real job constantly encroaching on my development time, I just can't let this keep dragging out.

On the upside, summer is the busy time at work. When fall and winter roll around, things slow a bit and I've got a lot more leeway. If I can get to the middle of August, my production time should definitely increase considerably.

Try being a WWII flight sim addict a few months is nothing..try four years. I know you can't compare the two because of the longevity and the crazy detail you can get into immersion wise with the flight sim....hem hem...Check your 6 everybody. :)
Ok, WWII Flight Sim, sounds awesome as hell.

What about the next update?

It is funny you use Milfy City as an example of a game not abandoned, when it's getting there, and every game he ever made before it DID get abandoned, or nearly so.
Just gonna throw out that Mifly City is one of my all time favorites. I patiently wait for each update because I know I won't be disappointed. And if he abandoned it tomorrow, I'll still enjoy everything I got up till now. So so good!

I don't think so. Some people feel a prior game or two of theirs was rushed at their end, but they haven't actually been abandoned. And the Dev took time off after falling behind this year, offering a very public notice of exhaustion. They have have since come back and offered an August delivery for the next installment.

ICSTOR only delivers when it's ready in their eyes. RomanHume is viewing their deliverable requirements in a similar manner at a high level, I feel (at least for this installment). I have never felt this game (or MILFY CITY) was in fear of abandonment, just lots of work to do for busy, tired Devs.
And to be fair, if I ever thought I was in danger of abandoning the game, I'd immediately suspend and let everyone know. Fortunately, I have the inverse problem. Too much story, too much enthusiasm, and too much passion with too little time.

But to me quality is super important because it's one of the tings that led us to create our own game in the beginning. At the time there just felt to be a lack of quality. There were only a tiny handful of games I had played that felt quality. A number have stepped up since, but still. It was a corner stone of the project. We wanted the best renders we could do and I plan to keep that keystone in place.

I've done about 300 of the 550 renders currently available in the first half of this update. And by the 200th render, I definitely felt I was getting faster at setting up and managing the scene. I like to think that if I haven't maintained Fecal's quality, that I've improved up on it.

This game has no "Incest" or have you been installing naughty mods? ;)

TBH I don't think it's that bad that the updates take a while (as long as they are equal to that delay in actual content) since I don't even remember all that much now and so i can experience it again when the update drops and I start a new game.
That's right, no incest! None!

I'm hoping that quality is worth it in the long run. Fingers crossed!

Will this rushed release result in a drop in quality compared to what you actually planned? If so i would prefer to wait rather than getting one chunk of the update now and compromising overall quality. That's just my own opinion of course.

Not at all! It's not really rushed, it is simply what is completed and playable at this moment. But it's only 1/2 of the planned update.

And I guess for further clarification, the second half won't be rushed either. But it'll be faster to produce because there is only a single story path in the second half and most of it is conversation and dialogue. Generally conversation scenes are quicker to produce because after the initial setup you are only changing facial expressions and gestures between frames.

What is being released has a lot of physical contact, lap dances, fucking, that sort of thing. And unlike conversation scenes, when you have two characters physically interacting, it takes longer to set up because you have manage all the alignment and points of contact between the two characters. So that's why this first half has taken so long to put together. A LOT of physical contact.

I agree, I really like that game, that is why I really hope I am wrong, and that he actually completes this one. There are a lot of girls in there that I want to still have fun with, but it doesn't look good for me at present. I am too OCD to not be bothered by those failed promises. No one is perfect, and I am will to forgive a lot, but I am not willing to put trust in someone who has disappointed me so many times.

As far as Milfy City goes..When I first stumble onto all of these things about six months ago it was Love and Submission A Wife and a Mother then....Milfy City. That thing blew me away. Suck it Hollywood is what I was thinking all the way through it. I must have went through it 3 or 4 times. That guy can't quit this game

Definitely not with the ... neighbor's ... daughter! :p

It's his first game, and very much an exploration on how he could make games. I recommend the Ren'Py remake, as the game is mostly running around, and that eliminates all the tediousness. It's very short.

At the rate things are going around here lately, I just expect one day they take it even further, "That guy is fucking his wife, that makes them related! We can't have that! That is too close to incest for we here at patreon now!" :p

Yeah, all of his old ones I played were the ren'py remakes, as much as I dislike ren'py, RPGM can be much more frustrating, what with the map issues and limited saves. I liked Milfy City so much, I wanted to go back and try his others, which might have been a mistake on my part. The only one I saw that did the map well in RPGM, was Private Community, but that is Ren'Py now too. We just need more devs to learn from Runey, and put 100 saves per save page. I mean, I love that game, but that could easily be the greatest contribution to the community he makes, that is if people choose to learn from it. hehe...

This should work out fine, I feel - there will be plenty for us to chew on and offer feedback/bug reports, I figure. I look forward to any story advancement/creation you have to offer for this game!

I realize you stated that asset setup for rendering between different environments might be tough, though I wonder if using an Iray Server for additional remote rendering might help, instead - it's a distributed rendering solution and my understanding is that information needed to render are sent dynamically from Daz 3D to the server.

Okay writer, let me help you out a bit because seems you are having trouble with "your" vs "you're".
You're = You Are.
Your = It means Yours. Example: Your Father.

As long as you remember "you're" means You Are, you should be fine and not embarrass yourself.

If you want to be a grammar Nazi you can't go around saying shit like "because seems" because that's not proper English either. YOUR own shit has to be perfect before you can go around coaching other people on theirs. Mine isn't perfect and that's why I don't bust the balls of others.

I know the difference between your and you're, it's just that sometimes my fingers move across this keyboard faster than my brain can spell check my shit. And when I'm done typing, I hit send because when I'm responding to twenty comments in an hour I don't have time to waste proofreading all that shit. As far as the game, I just put down another 5,000 words last Friday afternoon and I didn't go back and re-read that shit either. So feel free to rip that crap apart too when you finally see it.

As for embarrassing myself, I do that shit all the time. One could say I'm a fucking veteran at it. Doesn't faze me.

In all seriousness though, cocky shit like this just gets ignored going forward because it seems to be a waste of my very limited fucking time.

Cheers mate!

I've considered this but haven't had the time to delve into searching for one that is cost and time effective (I'm sure they're out there, I just haven't had the liberty to find one.)

The one that is frequently recommended to me is . The problem is it'll take at least $1000 a month to get more processing power than I currently have. Right now I can average 150 renders in a straight 24 hour period. It's a little under ten minutes a render and includes cool down between renders for the GPU (after having burned out our first card, I let these rest for about a minute between each render for peace of mind).

Everything gets queued up and run over night or while I'm working that other job. Really it's building the scenes that take the most time.

In fact what would really speed things up would be collision detection and a pinning solution that isn't janky as fuck. I spend the most time fixing clipping, position and contact issues between characters. Like putting together a scene with two characters fucking takes a shit ton of time because Daz, as a tool, has many limitations.

The first is that pinning an item only holds it in place until a limit is reached, then Daz starts to flex a bit and shit starts moving when all you really what is for crap to stay put. It's really inconvenient when her hands are supposed to be on his chest and only her ass is bouncing up and down. But push that ass up too high, and the hands start to slide all over the place while Daz prioritizes the ass movement over the hand placement.

Meanwhile, a lack of collision detection means that even getting her hands in place and not hovering or falling through that chest is another tedious task altogether. Same goes for furniture or objects or anything else a character interacts with. You have to place it meticulously or you end up hovering or clipping.

I know it sounds trivial, but it's those little visual inconsistencies that annoy me in other games and so I try to squash them in mine. One day, in the far future when this game is done and I'm on to the second or third, I'd like to move to a true 3D platform like Maya.

But till then, I'll keep using this kitchen knife as a screwdriver.

Seems like programming a tool like this to just don't allow clipping would be an easy solution to one half of that problem.

Unlike Daz 3D, Poser has some collision detection options beyond its softbody and "bullet" physics capabilities, such as forcing no touches (of variable setting) between defined objects, visually show intersection point(s) between objects, etc. I use the latter constantly, it makes the guesswork of manual posing go far faster than hunting for an object pose which seems to be "close enough" to another object for it to look like something is being hit, stepped on, grabbed, etc. without poke-through.

Collision management and related capabilities for soft body, particle, etc. physics exist in most of the general-purpose 3D packages, from what I've experienced.

Daz 3D has dForce, which is a limited physics capability. You'd think that they would investigate collision management needs, given how their software is mostly used for posing Daz-compatible characters, but until that day ... you can get scripts which will move some objects to touch others and such, but no actual collision limits or visual intersection features that I've yet seen.

Perhaps that person wanted to type "because it seems" but their fingers also moved across their keyboard, etc.? Is that person now allowed an expletive-filled tirade against you as you have "tiraded" against them?

As a developer I am very receptive to criticism and feedback. As a rule, I listen to every suggestion and view comments as opportunities to increase the quality and enjoyment of my final product. But when those suggestions are book-ended by smart ass rhetoric, I'm much less receptive. In fact, if I'm under the gun and pressed for time, that smart ass rhetoric could get you verbally pissed on.

As for utility and things I might find useful, anything that isn't designed to help me get this update out in the next five days has no use to me whatsoever at this point in time.

But as a final note, when players send me lists of grammatical and spelling errors that they find in the game, I do take those suggested corrections and fix the errors. It happens every update. And I'm grateful for the assistance from these individuals because they are genuinely trying to help.

So to anyone who wants to send me corrections for the dialogue and text in the game, know that those suggestions will be received with gratitude and a very humble thanks for helping me improve the game.

It was an obvious misstype, but to have that present in an unnecessarily holier-than-thou post about care and correctness when it came to grammar/word usage felt more than a little hypocritical. The post was both offered and presented in bad faith, I felt - the Dev's reaction seemed reasonable to me.
