That's about as far as I got, too.
I don't understand why developers use 1.x versions when they aren't even close to being finished. Version 1.0 implies the game is finished and anything afterward is touching up or adding extra content.
It's really annoying when I download something that appears to be near ending phase and it's barely any content at all. Nevermind the fact that the game doesn't even tell you when you reach the end of the update, just lets you sit there thinking the game is bugged.

Each dev uses what makes sense to them. Players generally have no say in it.

I guess that might be true, but the developer who goes against what I said is in the extreme outlier. A quick glance through f95's forums would agree with me. It's very rare that you find a game with 1.x versions that isn't in the end-phase of development.
So when you release your own game you can use whatever versioning number you want. :)

That is not true. The version numbering varies a lot between games around here. It is quite common for it to not be a indicator of game completion state.
Also unless you are just holding down ctrl button to skip dialogues this game already has quite a lot of content on it.

By the way, had you bothered to read the thread instead of trying to throw shade at the developer you would find out that was the end of the update.

I'm soooo sorry the thing you got for free isn't to your liking.

If you read the thread, the initial release was labelled "0.1".
Then the game code was completely redone and, iirc, the version number went from 0.X to 1.X because of their incompatibility.
An alternative solution was to make a different thread, but it would have made little sense: there was still little content; the game name and the characters were the same; the plot was similar.
Another solution was to call the new release Dr. Amana Revamped 0.1, but: 1) imo it was ugly and 2) how many people would have paid attention to the word "Revamped"? Many of them only compare numbers.

Anyway, Dr. Amana is an exception. Generally speaking I agree with you, a game version number should not start from 1.0.

I've been meaning to provide an update on the status of the Android Build, I've just been side tracked with content production.
I'm in a bit of a rush because I have a lot I'm trying to get done on the game in the next 24 hours before I depart for what I hope is the last business trip of 2019.

Success was achieved in getting the game to compile. Success was achieved in getting the game to finally install on an Android device.

What remains now is updated the gui so that it is usable on said device. Unfortunately, all the custom work I've done with the planner, etc, did not scale properly on the actual device (it appears fine in the emulator, but in service, everything is out of whack).

Since the emulator is not displaying exactly 1:1 as the actual device, I'm having to go through a painstaking process of making several improvements, compiling, installing, testing, and the moving to the next iteration.

It's a very slow and painful process, but one that I'm chipping away at little by little.

The upside is that once this is done and I have everything sorted out with alternative screens designed for display on Android, the process is done and will never have to be repeated.

But I have to get to that stage first. I don't want Android users to have reduced functionality. So I will continue to redesign elements for use with Android devices. I'll just need more time build, test, and complete the design.

I'm curious for you Android users out there. Would you prefer a stripped down build that is nothing but choices and story until a more complete version can be designed, or would you rather wait until all the features of the PC/Mac build are successfully converted to Android?

Let me know your thoughts. Cheers!

for being almost 2 years old, there seems to be a staggering lack of content. am i missing something ehre or is this literally all the dev has made over 2 years?
