Well it's uncommon but even irl some girls really look petite despite their age.
I'll be honest if I have too choose I prefer a girl that looks like Elena in DMD (thus "too young") rather than a girl that looks too old (+50 is an absolute no go), even if imho the best type remains something like Cassie in Amana (thus the late teenager look as llhares said). I doubt my taste will change as I get older.
For me D didn't look especially young in DMD (especially compared to her friends), even without her tits. But her overly naive behavior is what annoyed me a bit (some nonsensical dialogues). I wonder if that personality isn't the main reason you had that impression llhares, instead of purely how she looks.
Sometimes though, without knowing why, I really like some particular milfs in some games, but I guess it's more for the individual itself rather than the type of girl. Idk.
