RomanHume You never fail to amaze with your writing.
That is a hell of a compliment. Thank you!
the pet names arent really used as pet names they just use it as normal names read how i sayd it some other developer did it that whit a pasword so the game is plain as she whould be neighbour untill you add the paswort and then its daughter again i know Patreon is a MF but that doesnt stop the other developers to be atleast sneaky like that
or make the patch seperate but not via patreon is the same way its using the loop holes smart
I can appreciate that other developers have engineered work-arounds and buried unlockables in their code. But at the end of the day, I don't want to give Patreon a single silver bullet. They can open up my code and read it start to finish and find nothing in there that breaks their T&C's.
While I don't do this for the money, I do want to make enough to be a full time developer. And right now Patreon is the lifeline to that possibility. And at the moment, they are the reason I'm able to afford to hire artists. I won't give them a single line of code that could be used to demonstrate my violating their rules.
The pet name system is really the most I'm going to do officially to alleviate the problem. The pet name system is globally enabled across all characters, lovers and non-lovers alike, and serves as a fun way to tweak the dialogue. Since it's applied universally to every character in the game, they can't really say that I included it for the purpose of intentional misuse by players.
At the end of the day, it is what it is. One day the game will be done and I'll be on to something else and then, who knows, maybe I'll make some changes. But until then, I'm not rolling those dice.
Just because ten other people got away with something, doesn't mean I'm guaranteed to get away with it as well. Best to think about the business as a whole and just err on the side of caution. That's my official stance.
I also scratch my head about this. Why is only this game that makes this mistake? I have around 45-50 other Ren-py games that works perfect.
I'm just wild-guessing here: maybe defined the names with capital first letter like "Amana" and later referred to it with small first letter like "amana"? Could that been? And here could intervene the windows with ignoring or not the case? Shoot me if i know
I just want you to know I haven't given up on trying to figure this out. I've called in some other people to run over the code and see if they can figure out how to replicate and eliminate this bug. If you come up with a solution before I do, please let me know. Salute mate!
