Hello everyone,
We have to say we're surprised and excited to find everyone here talking about this game, even though we didn't post it in this forum. My name is Roman, I'm a dev and marketing guy for the untitled IAF posted here. I've been reading through your posts and I'm thrilled to see all of it, good and bad. I'm hoping that posting up here I can answer some questions and maybe dispel some of the negativity around our project.
I'll start by just touching on a couple of the things I've read above that I can answer off-hand.
1. Why is the alpha behind a paywall?
Recent changes in Patreon's policy required this. A month or two ago, a slew of adult content developers had their sites shut out and put under review until they complied with the new policy. This policy included, among other things, a limitation to the types of sexual activities permitted in creator content, as well as a requirement that all adult oriented posts be locked out to the general public. Believe me, this was a serious blow and not at all how we wanted to start this project. To combat this, I've spent many days this week finding as many adult game forums as possible to post up links to our samples and share with everyone some of the news and information we've provided. Since this is my first post on f95zone I am not yet allowed to post links. But I will happily include this in my rounds when going around and sharing updated content.
2. There isn't shit to the story.
This is true, very, very true. This project officially kicked off on December 14th, 2017. It started as round table discussion that quickly evolved into a bunch of buddies wanting to put together something fun. It began with talks about all of the things we experienced in AIF and Adults Games that bothered the shit out of us. So we decided to write a story that we ourselves would want to experience. We're releasing updates frequently, here we are four days out and we've posted-up 0.2.0. If you search around, you can probably find it on some other forums. In a few more posts I'll have permission to posts links up and I'll drop it here as well.
3. Your goals are fucking ridiculous!
To tell you the truth, we drew 1000 out of a hat. The general idea was, if we had 1000 patrons at $1 each, we could upgrade a rig a month in four consecutive months. Having never had a Patreon page before, we were unsure of what the income distribution would be across all tiers. We could very well hit the financial mile stone long before a 1000, who knows. At the end of the day, when we have enough income coming in to start the upgrades, we'll begin doing so whether or not we hit 1000 patrons. Since hardware is our only capital intensive requirement, once that is upgraded there is unlikely to be any other goals set after that.
4. $20 for all the characters? Are you fucking nuts?
This was our way of giving back something extra at every level of support. In the end, even $1 patrons are going to have access to the full game upon release. But for those who showed a lot of faith and really wanted to demonstrate they were behind us, we wanted to give something substantial back to them. Something more than just special render each month for their continued support. Patrons who don't pay will still have access to 85% of the game, there will just be some special scenes and easter eggs available to those supporting us at each tier. We feel like this is a fair recompense for those who have chosen to invest their hard earned money with us. $20 is a lot. I know it is to me. So to anyone who wants to invest that in us, we feel we owe them something in return.
5. In it for the money and looking to quit some jobs.
While the prospect is enticing, I can't conceive of a scenario where we'd make enough money on Patreon to match our combined 4 salaries and afford us the liberty to quite our jobs and do this full time. At the end of the day, this is a hobby, and if you can get a hobby to pay for itself while you're having fun, so much the better.
6. You're going to milk the shit out of this and live off the residuals for years.
Unfortunately we are a bunch with very active imaginations. Which means we've already thought several games past this one. The middle aged corporate executive character is only one of several stories we'd like to tell. All in all, we've got 4 more games we want to build after this, and I'm sure that list will grow as we continue to hang out and shoot the shit.
Anyway, I hope some of my answers are satisfactory, and if not, well, they are still the answers.
I would be happy to field any questions directly. And as soon as I get two more posts in here I'll throw up some links and pictures that we've been sharing on other open forums and our Patreon site.
Cheers!
