This guy could have just kept doing what he was doing and made so much more money. Doesn't even make sense to do this.
Was he doing it by himself? or did someone who was key to make it suddenly left and he didn't have the skills or time to continue it?

Would he really make more money? this game is way too simple to capture people's attention for over 2 years (patrons are clinging to expectations and fake promises, which wouldn't work if the actually released game contradicted all of it). Big games usually are more complex (open world-ish or with more characters and branching). Successful creators who create simpler games usually finish them relatively quickly and move on to new or more complex ones (e.g. the guy from Areas of Gray, or the guy from Acting Lessons).

How much work did he do to make thousands from scamming people for over 2.5 years vs. how much work would he have done if he hadn't actually scammed? the difference in work is massive, but the difference in profits wouldn't be as big. 10k was already near saturation point for such a simple game like this.

why not make it easier for others to do the same without wasting their time like I did?
If it were not for your posts, which raise this topic from the depths of nothingness to the top of the forum, thousands of people would not waste their time and would never know about the existence of this game.
The game is flagged as abandoned, did you have to read 600 pages of the topic to be sure?

Next week? Yeah right.
I'm sure he will come up with another excuse. Maybe a translation error or has he already used that?

I don't randomly post to bump the thread. I just remind people of it whenever I see others spreading the idea this is a legit thing.

He already admitted while back that he doesn't give a shit. No excuses. For the first time in years, i think he spoke the truth.

Hey Gumdrop here.
Decided to wait until the Nvidia Ampere release to really put the finishing touches to this update with some ultra high res renders... 16x the detail and all that. My contacts at Nvidia tell me that availability could be sketchy early on though so may be a few months. In the meantime, please continue to send more money. Covid has hit really hard over here *snickering to himself*. Here's another closeup of some sideboob to tide you over,
Kyle

# I was actually going to grab a zoomed in render of some sideboob from somewhere. However I realised that would mean putting about as much effort in as Gumdrop has managed in the last 2 years. Ain't nobody got time for dat

Macinnes: He disabled the amount shown back in April. I already gave two reasons he could have had for that a couple pages ago:
1. He hid it from his patrons to prevent them from noticing that his per patron amount dropped. This is doubtful because his patrons are not that smart.
2. He finally started looking for help with his project around April when he realized he can't do it alone. He hid his income which allows him to get away with undercutting the wage he pays.
Before he hid this amount, he was getting was around $9.50 per patron per month. If you look at graphtreon:
Their "best guess" is $1K-$5K, while my best guess is $6K-$6.3K (assuming $9.25-$9.70 per patron). But graphtreon doesn't account for past performance and doesn't look at any post statistics, just takes an average of his tiers with a "best guess" where pledges can land.
If a creator exceeds graphtreon's high estimate, that means they're doing really good at engaging high paying patrons.

As for that Discord rant, if it was months ago, then I can believe it because his updates was obviously blasé and he has since switched back to his usual tone.
Now that I think about it his Discord moderator Kommandant Abby Sciuto was going back and forth with pissed off members about his rant. She was even pissed off. I had to log out of Discord because the notifications were non-stop and annoying while I was playing another game. I have no faith in Gumdrop ever completing this game. The real shame is that it's still up for sale on Steam and folks like me get roped in without knowing the real story.

Exactly. Let's close this thread... if he is gaining money unworthy we dont need to know! We only need art... 2 years to deliver a update AND WE WILL CONTINUE WRITING ABOUT THE DELAY AFTER 2 YEARS?

Dude, I don't know how a dead game generates so much talk.
Aren't you tired of arguing about it?
I'm not complaining, I just don't understand why they are arguing so much about this dead game and about the milking developer.
It generates so much discussion on this forum because it's a bit of a phenomenon in regards to its blatant and shameless scam. The fact he has scammed so much money, and so many people continue to fall for it even today, is worth talking about. If it was a shitty little porn game with a dozen patrons it would have disappeared years ago. But it's not, it was a huge game in the early days of adult VNs and gathered a huge following.

I find this whole scenario both fascinating and a cautionary tale to anyone considering becoming a patron to any developer.

This description and all the others about Gumdrop makes me think he didn't actually disappear...he changed his name and started another game called Radiant where he is milking patreons to $36,000+ PER UPDATE!
