Please run a few tests for me:
- Check original file from Ci-En. I've uploaded it to MEGA: link
- Check modified archive with replaced binaries (to NW.JS 0.38.4, Windows x86_64): link
Those didn't set off anything and didn't have the same registry fuckery I observed, only the links in the OP are causing issues.

I'd suggest re-posting the host links with a fresh upload to avoid the people who have security intervention from needing to take the extra steps needed to get the game properly, and possibly to avoid whatever that nebulous registry issue is because that isn't expected behavior from the game and it's not present in the files in your post.

Also, for some reason the NW.JS files completely kill the audio to the point of not even showing in a sound mixer. I have no clue how that works since the unpatched and OP files have sound.
This trojan scare seems to visit most threads at least once and surfaces on F95 with predictable regularity. Not once has an actual threat been pointed out. It's been bad AV and leaps of logic.

Code can be messy but harmless. If you want to keep your main rig's virgin run going, use a different box. (y)
I was downright meticulous in my testing and I'm always willing to give benefit of the doubt for uploaders being able to do their job properly.

My main point was to put people's antivirus fears at rest, and to get it set so people who're getting download prevention from their browsers and whatnot to be able to get the game on their system without jumping through hoops to bypass their security.

two things to point out looking at the comments:
-Dev says it should take about 6 more months +1/2 months in case of delay
-After this point each stage is supposed to unlock much more content

This is a pirate forum, after all, so it's no wonder.
But it seems that the reports of antivirus triggering are legit and not just trolling/scaremongering. I'd like to know what exactly caused this to try and prevent similar accidents in the future.

Those didn't set off anything and didn't have the same registry fuckery I observed, only the links in the OP are causing issues.
Thanks!
It's bad news, honestly. I expected original archive to be marked as malware as well. We can't be totally sure that this is really false positive unless culprit file or files are found.

I don't understand, then. My archive is different to Fuyou's only in *.json (text) files, and in that I used 7zip format instead of zip.
How can changing text in "Show Message" commands in game events cause any "registry fuckery"?

Can you please tell me about your antivirus setup? I.e. what AV programs use use, their versions, settings.
How can I reproduce your results?

Also, for some reason the NW.JS files completely kill the audio to the point of not even showing in a sound mixer. I have no clue how that works since the unpatched and OP files have sound.
OK, I'll take note. But it is probably something on your side, as sound works as expected on NWJS version in my Windows 10 VM.

I'd suggest re-posting the host links with a fresh upload to avoid the people who have security intervention from needing to take the extra steps needed to get the game properly, and possibly to avoid whatever that nebulous registry issue is because that isn't expected behavior from the game and it's not present in the files in your post.
I'll do that now. Considering your report about lack of sound I think I'll post links to both original archive and NWJS version with a note.

I'm always willing to give benefit of the doubt for uploaders being able to do their job properly.
Two nit-picks: I don't consider myself "an uploader" and opening/updating these threads has nothing to do with my job.
I'm just an enjoyer of Fuyou's creations since I randomly discovered EP Doll on DLSite and was surprised to find that game had less than 200 downloads at that time (around June 2021). Creating a first thread here was an experiment in hopes of spreading the word and popularizing his games among English-speaking audience. I think it was a success.
Then some time passed and now I suddenly find myself in the role of a "drug pusher" of a specific brand.

The word "job" implies responsibility for its results. Responsibility that I don't have to, don't want to, and ultimately can't take. I'll do my best to make sure that users on this forum don't have any problems with the games I upload, but ultimately the responsibility for their own information security lies with them.

Checked everything and this round of uploads is perfectly fine, no registry stuff, flags, or security intervention.

Can you please tell me about your antivirus setup? I.e. what AV programs use use, their versions, settings.
How can I reproduce your results?
I used 2 machines with Windows 7 and 10, the latest versions of McAfee, Bitdefender, Norton, Malwarebytes, Windows Defender, and kaspersky with their respective default settings as well as VirusTotal. I also tested downloads using Chrome, Edge, and Firefox all fully updated. I basically tried to use the most common factors I could think of for testing in an attempt to hopefully overlap with people who were having flag reports.

The issue is that I intentionally included VirusTotal since someone reported a clear scan using it (it's also just a very good scan to include normally), as a control variable for my tests, but it gave a flag too when I used it.

This means there's conflicting scan results from the same program which lines up with a lot of people not getting flags or warnings at all and being able to download the archives unimpeded by their browser and such.

I'm very confident that it's a false positive due to that behavior, the only thing that concerns me is the registry stuff since I can't even figure out what's causing it through isolation and by all accounts it simply shouldn't be happening. But that seems to be isolated to just the originally linked files.

OK, I'll take note. But it is probably something on your side, as sound works as expected on NWJS version in my Windows 10 VM.
Yeah, no clue how on how that's even a thing. Even replacing the audio files doesn't work. It straight up just doesn't exist as an audio source even though the original one in the OP did, and presumably they're the exact same archive.

*EDIT*
Same issue with the reupload, that NW.JS version's audio is just gone with the wind and I can't figure out why or even how to fix it.

Two nit-picks: I don't consider myself "an uploader" and opening/updating these threads has nothing to do with my job
What I mean by "job" is that uploads have a set of criteria needed to be done before they're approved, like virus scanning and such. I never assume people who upload games are in error unless there's zero ambiguity for it, since it's a basic competency thing.

I won't promise anything, as setting even a subset of this up is time consuming. Hopefully I'll find time to study this further before full release.
One more question, how did you detect that the game did something suspicious with the registry?

Yeah, no clue how on how that's even a thing. Even replacing the audio files doesn't work.
If you are interested, you can try different versions of NW.JS. It is likely that whatever issue you're facing is already fixed in newer versions.
0.38.4 is very old, I keep using it because in some later version performance significantly degraded (and newer versions bring no benefit for running RPG Maker games; if it works, it works). I hope that issue is now fixed as well.

1. Go here:
2. Download a version, stating from latest
3. Remove everything from the game directory except 'www' subfolder and 'package.json' file
4. Extract NWJS achive inside game's directory, so that 'nw.exe' is on the same level as 'www'

*EDIT*
Same issue with the reupload, that NW.JS version's audio is just gone with the wind and I can't figure out why or even how to fix it.
That is because these are exactly the same archives that you checked earlier. I should have mentioned that.

Honestly at this point I'm thinking the offender got into the files during the upload itself rather than being native to them, we've pretty firmly established the native files are completely fine.

And I just had it run in Sandboxie like the original user did and observed the registry files since that was the supposedly affected area in the report. I was basically just trying to retrace the user's experience and see if it was a once off incident or not.

I'm curious as to the purpose of the EP Fragments
EP fragments seem to be this game's version of sex levels in the previous games. You get 1 fragment the first time you unlock a sex scene with the NPCs or can buy them from the shop. As you reach milestones you unlock more NPCs and towns to go to. From what I can tell, you currently don't have to buy any if you just use NPCs but you have to open up both the male and female ones to get all the current areas and I'm not sure if there's going to be some ending change based on which NPCs you opened up in the EP world. Current areas are the downtown area with the pub I think with the dwarf and mermaid, a church with a priest guy and nuns, village area with male and female villagers, a barmaid, and shotas, and a palace with a nobleman and woman, maids, and butlers.

Huh. I wonder why you can buy them from the EP Shops then.

My best guess is there will be something for virgin runs that will require them. Since they're called fragments, I'd imagine there will be a way to combine them eventually and you'll need a number of them to unlock something else.

What is the lore behind these games anyways? i mean the creator has a whole series of EP games so i was wondering if any sort of background is available on what exactly is going on.

It's kinda a read between the lines lore that I think get answered in this game. Throughout the series there are those little blue squigglies and trees that result in a instant game over if you touch them. I'm not spoiling but in one of the levels you get to see something with them ON IT.

From my theory, the E-points (Blue squiggly things that give you an instant game over - E-points are my name for them not the official name) are some kind of multiverse invading creatures that invade various dimensions and slowly corrupt them in one way or another. Its up to the MC to stop them.

That said, the games lore feels like its purposefully vague and TBF, I don't play porn games for the lore.

Hm.. as far as I can tell, sex levels are still tied to sexual experience and the EP fragments are independent of that. It sort of hinted (after you get your first fragment from a scene) that the fragments can be combined to form a core (like you get from bosses), and it may just be that that mechanic isn't in the game yet.

My speculation is that there will be different endings or maybe even areas you can access depending on the number of whole cores you have, such that to see everything, you can't do a virgin, bare minimum, cores-from-only bosses run.

After playing the demo more, I keep seeing Clone Hands again. Thumbs pointing the same way, specifically, like the character has two right or left hands. I hope Fuyou fixes them for the final version this time - Battle Girl had so many that it became distracting at times.

Somehow I've never noticed this in EPBG. Nice!

I hope this game doesn't drag as much as EP Battle Girl. It started off really great but it doesn't really advance in mechanics much after the first few dungeons. The variety in traps, areas, and bosses is nice, but the formula could use some variation after a while. Not sure I'll finish it even though I'm about 80% done I think. The ranged attacks might help this game a bit in that way, but I hope there's more to do outside of the usual dungeon-sleep-dungeon loop too. The gameplay is a bit too simple on its own to carry a 15 hour game even though the dev did a pretty good job of spicing up levels.

Considering the outfit change the male PC can do, I hope there's some femboy-related/submissive but gay stuff. Given the pattern of the previous games I am unsure if that may be added though. My heart can only hope.
