This trojan scare seems to visit most threads at least once and surfaces on F95 with predictable regularity. Not once has an actual threat been pointed out. It's been bad AV and leaps of logic.
Code can be messy but harmless. If you want to keep your main rig's virgin run going, use a different box.
This is a pirate forum, after all, so it's no wonder.
But it seems that the reports of antivirus triggering are legit and not just trolling/scaremongering. I'd like to know what exactly caused this to try and prevent similar accidents in the future.
Those didn't set off anything and didn't have the same registry fuckery I observed, only the links in the OP are causing issues.
Thanks!
It's bad news, honestly. I expected original archive to be marked as malware as well. We can't be totally sure that this is really false positive unless culprit file or files are found.
I don't understand, then. My archive is different to Fuyou's only in *.json (text) files, and in that I used 7zip format instead of zip.
How can changing text in "Show Message" commands in game events cause any "registry fuckery"?
Can you please tell me about your antivirus setup? I.e. what AV programs use use, their versions, settings.
How can I reproduce your results?
Also, for some reason the NW.JS files completely kill the audio to the point of not even showing in a sound mixer. I have no clue how that works since the unpatched and OP files have sound.
OK, I'll take note. But it is probably something on your side, as sound works as expected on NWJS version in my Windows 10 VM.
I'd suggest re-posting the host links with a fresh upload to avoid the people who have security intervention from needing to take the extra steps needed to get the game properly, and possibly to avoid whatever that nebulous registry issue is because that isn't expected behavior from the game and it's not present in the files in your post.
I'll do that now. Considering your report about lack of sound I think I'll post links to both original archive and NWJS version with a note.
I'm always willing to give benefit of the doubt for uploaders being able to do their job properly.
Two nit-picks: I don't consider myself "an uploader" and opening/updating these threads has nothing to do with my job.
I'm just an enjoyer of Fuyou's creations since I randomly discovered EP Doll on DLSite and was surprised to find that game had less than 200 downloads at that time (around June 2021). Creating a first thread here was an experiment in hopes of spreading the word and popularizing his games among English-speaking audience. I think it was a success.
Then some time passed and now I suddenly find myself in the role of a "drug pusher" of a specific brand.
The word "job" implies responsibility for its results. Responsibility that I don't have to, don't want to, and ultimately can't take. I'll do my best to make sure that users on this forum don't have any problems with the games I upload, but ultimately the responsibility for their own information security lies with them.
