Because Unity is doing some really scuzzy shit pushing them to Unreal. Unreal and Unity being the two biggest 3D engines out there.

You also do not need a new PC to run a ue5 game if you can already run ue4 or Unity games.
lustland adventures and matrix demo, the only ue5 games i played so far are barely playable even on lowest settings on my 1050ti and i5-7500, lustland adventures worked faster b4 transition 2 ue5 im guessin erokin will be like that, we'll see 0u0

Well, Unreal (and Unity) are regularly used within the more professional, non-porny side of game development too. Limitations on hardware are not set by the engine - the engine is usually supposed to be as light as possible - but by the dev.

Sounds like you have experience with amateur devs who just select for their own computers without realizing how it would effect efficiency. "Ooh, raytracing!"

the switch is not pointless. the reason a lot of indie devs are moving from Unity to UE5 is because of a policy change that will happen in january. iirc devs will need to pay a fee of .20$ per user install, including if someone were to uninstall/reinstall the game later apparently. so lots of Indie devs who are already paying to use Unity will have to pay even more whenever a user installs their game.

Not strictly true, at least if I'm still as caught up as I think I am. Unity's put a bottom cap on that charge such that small indie devs wouldn't need to pay the fee - you only pay extra if your game is booming.

However, it's still a smelly, bad business practice and that's more than enough motive for some devs to switch to Unreal.

Yeah, it's dangerous to promote bad practices, you don't know where it will stop and if other platforms see Unity having success they might copy them and start charging as well.

Sure unity fucked up when they announced this fee plan, sounds more like they let a rh lady take a decision for once and no one checked before letting her post on twitter, as many unity employers said so... youtubers also said a lot of dumb shit and misinformation to get views, no one on unity side said you would have to pay 1 million for your free game, you wont pay for releasing a free game, you would not pay for donations on patreon if you are smart and even if so you still will be paying way less than other engines... but sensationalism gets more views.

And I don't think this game has any form of optimization lol.

Patreon i seen it ,which price i support can have this game?10 or 25?
It looks like both have access to "Patreon Builds" while the $25 also has "in-development builds". I'm not sure what the difference is but I would assume that anything posted to Patreon is covered by both and maybe the "in-development builds" are through a discord or something between patreon build posts?

Erokin v0.3 - Unreal Engine 5 Port
PC:

Patch Notes | Changelog: v0.3
Attend our vigil to explore the dark world of Erokin more thoroughly than ever before with quests, newly garnished prison, market, a combat prototype and a greater town of Gateston.

This version of Erokin features a prototype of our combat system.
With this release we aimed to provide a new experience in Unreal Engine 5. Previously our game was made on the Unity Engine and we have ported 90% of the previous content as well as added new content.

A prototype of the buttplug mechanic is playable in 0.3.
The change from Unity to Unreal Engine 5, means that everything was rebuilt from the ground up. Every bit of content was at least touched up in some way. Many things were added that weren’t there at all before. A few things are not there yet.

The market is completely reimagined. We felt that it hadn't hit the church-aesthetic before.
This version of Erokin is not quite as cooked as the latest Unity version was. Performance will be a priority as it has gone down significantly from the previous internal testing build. This is due to there only being 2 loading zones. Either the city is loaded or it’s not. Currently the far corner of the city is being partially rendered, even if you are in the other corner of the town. Splitting the city up into more loading zones will help a lot here. There also seems to be a bug where wide aspect ratio screens cause the game to run at a ridiculous resolution. We will address all these issues as well as adding the obvious such as a main menu, pause menu and such.

We managed to squeeze in a tiny bit of new content for the reworked market.
While the state of this release is not as clean as I’d like it to be, I am optimistic that we can polish the game from here and finally start adding new content!

Release Notes:
Features:
  • Unreal Engine 5
  • Combat Prototype
  • Buttplug System Prototype
  • Reworked Town
  • Exterior Environment
  • New Market
  • Quest System
Thank you for playing and submitting bug reports, screenshots through our Patreon, X and community Discord server. It has helped with development and it always raises the morale in our team to see all the encouraging comments! :)

As always thank you for attending our vigil, you will always be one of a Erokin-d to us. Anduo Games wishes you a merry winter solstice and wonderful New Year!
