I agree with you about the story. The actions of the MC don't feel very connected to the stated goals, and the subplots wind up feeling rushed - we don't get a proper setup, a bunch of things just happen, and then we're off to start the next one (or the cliffhanger) without any wrap-up.

Maybe this chapter would have benefited from being split into two chapters and fleshing out the details better? The cliffhanger was a little heavy handed, but it was effective and hopefully will result in the MC maturing a bit going forward. It's just that the path getting there felt very much like busywork, and that undercuts the impact of the ending a bit.

As for the sex scenes, I've never liked them in this game, and this chapter was no exception. Caribdis has a very different sense of what constitutes romantic (or sexy) than I do. But I was sort of expecting that going in. The part that really confused me was Penny's path.

With most girls, it's almost comically easy to close their path off for good. But for whatever reason, Penny's path is practically bulletproof. Unless you're willing to side with Regina over Penny (and fat chance of that after the shit Regina pulled), the only other offramp is to refuse to go the original photoshoot with her all the way back in Chapter 2. That seems a little drastic given we were just getting to know the girls back then. But unless you turn her down cold (or again, side with Regina), you WILL develop a sexual relationship with her whether you want it or not.

Obviously the game is intended to be played as a harem so I'm not expecting a lot attention devoted to solo path options, but it's really weird how hard it is to turn Penny without blatantly metagaming. Even Nova's sex scene in the same chapter has an exit right before it that pays some lip service to making things up to her (though it's obviously going to break the poor girl's heart). But Penny's scene is utterly unavoidable once we get to this point and I don't get why.

see this is why we can't have cliffhangers like this. Cuz now we gotta theorycraft for 6-7 months and that one obscure guess in the 100+ pages that followed this version's release will be the correct one.

Thing with Penny is she probably has the least amount of baggage tied to her out of basically any of the LIs. Yeah she has to deal with her career path struggle and balancing school and popularity, but her thing is mainly wanting to not be seen as just some pretty face with a killer bod, but someone who can also think for herself and be independent. She also just really likes Orion, having known him since they were kids, though doesn't have the super big crush Dalia has on him, the situations that presented themself created a bunch of sexual tension. So she just thought that if she could relieve it with him it'd be easy to let go of him as just "another guy". Turned out to be her biggest mistake/greatest choice ever because they're beyond compatible with each other, as she found out in this update. If it continues as is it's a matter of seeing him as more than just sexually compatible to him and more someone she can pour her feelings out towards.

Having replayed the whole game I have to say I had forgotten how much I hate Calypso. During the whole game she's little better than Axel, sometimes worse, but because she has "nice assets" we're supposed to overlook how terrible she is and just go along with it.

I obviously don't know what Cari will do, but anyway you take it the resolution is likely to be a cop-out. Whether cheap or expensive (lol).

I think this is actually really interesting to think about. He has been characterized to be extremely cocky, brash and meet obstacles. Most girls if not all of them have at LEAST one or two moments within their route which have Orion stating, with absolute certainty, that he will protect and take care of them, he's continuosly throwing himself into danger and having little to no regard for his safety, the more he won, the more arrogant he bacame I think you put it extremely well in your post. One thing to note is how he actually presumed he would win against the Werewolf Leader. He acted as if he was fodder, like fighting him was a chore he'd get over with in a second (only for him to get speedblitzed later on WITH his hax on, to me implying he never even had a chance - though that could've just been comic relief, it IS a Caribdis game lol).

What is really interesting to me is that It's always been clear something has been trying to guide Orion in a certain path. The first phone call he received just after reaching Kredon, the text that flashes on-screen for barely a frame when logging in ETERNUM, his dreams, with seemingly dead people begging him for help. - Though, I suppose now its half-confirmed that it was Idriel guiding him, and the NPCs / Souls asking for him to free them - To me this just means Cari had a clear vision on how much of the plot points and story beats would play out and how to hint towards them, that's really neat, but not what's so cool about this:

What I do think is really cool is how some variables are teasing stuff that goes along those 'guides' and 'secret messages'. Telling The Founder that you fight for others makes the variable "hero" true (this goes along what Dorfnutter mentioned about Orion having to actually act and BE the needed hero), whilst his next question asking you whether you'd sacrifice innocent lives to save your loved ones changes absolutely nothing at all, it just doesn't matter. Another thing to note is that the only girls to have a 'path' variable are the main ones, the exception being Calypso- i.e she's technically a main girl if we follow the code's logic. The game also seems to remember each coin flip decision and actually changes some real spicy bit of dialogue accordingly, and imples you should always choose Tails and that Tails is the right option in all occasions.

Unrelated note, but am I the only one happy with the Model and Animation changes? Unexpected, sure, but I don't think anyone looks particularly ugly. I actually think the changes make a lot of sense with the characters. Annie is cuter, Dalia, Penelope and Nancy look more similar and seem actually related, and everyone's 'vibe' was maintained. The animations to me also have very clearly improved. Some may not like the 'realism' but I personally enjoy when the stretches strech, the jiggles jiggle and the plaps plap. I think the Game is headed on a very nice and enjoyable direction, my only nitpick is how quick I was to finish the update. I know I'm a fast reader, but did anyone feel like this one was really short?

Gotta respect the amount of time you guys put into your theories, if what you said happened I think it could work, if well written, I mean... Carb could definitely pull it off, going back retaining your memories, kinda like Book 3 of Love of Magic, but instead of a different timeline just a restart in the time loop, it'd need a way to replay faster through all the events, since arriving by Train with Annie and Chang, or the game will become really massive, and what about all the built relationships with the characters, would that change too? Idk, all those complications might make this outcome difficult for the game.

I just finished playing 0.7 and:
1. Loved it overall.
2. I agree with some of the posts that the pacing of this update was very weird/rushed for no reason, but I am going to give Cari the benefit of the doubt and say that it was indeed a "filler" update and the story/pacing will make more sense when we play 0.8 together with this... or something like that. :copium:
3. I was a tiny bit disappointed we did not get much of any "pirate" content because that was the most teased and anticipated part of this update but oh well.

About his death at the end, I am going to make my own theory by combining a few of the others' I have read earlier and adding garnish on top: So, Calypso is meditating and senses Orion's impending demise (or that he is in grave danger) but, her ritual can not be interrupted, as she had said, so she speeds it up and finally finds her home world. But lo and behold, its Earth (our "real" not so real world / dimension). Just that she is from an ancient era on earth where magic / elves / blah blah were existing and she severely underestimated how long she had been in captivity. This could easily explain how she could enter our world because then she would not be an NPC in the first place and why she could not find her home world before. Now I know this clashes with her being "created by Idriel" but I am going to chalk that up to the very old theory that Idriel is Anima in some shape or form.
It also helps to explain Calypso's continued insistence that Alex has Elven blood, only super diluted + Luna "powers".

Also, from Idriel's words at the end implying that she can turn back time with her coin, we could explain our own visions and what I am calling "lost memories", for example that voice in our head saying not to trust The Founder, etc.

Not super happy about this update. The 'teasing her about panties' option leads to inappropriate - one could even say sexual harassment, or maybe even sexual assault - fingering. Being aroused is not the same as giving consent. I'm also not a fan of rushed sex, like that on the lambo, no matter how hot it is. I'd rather take my time and fuck for hours. Not that the scene wasn't excellent. But I'd rather have more time. Also, Nova shouldn't force you to cum inside her like that. I always cum inside, but it should be a choice. I know she's crazy, but still.
It also seems like the main plot is beginning to drag on. At one point I was thinking "great, ANOTHER gem of doom." The problem, I think, is the protagonist's superiority. It doesn't seem like there's much in Eternum that can pose any possible threat to him, so there's little drama in the hunts for the gems of doom.

Also, behavior in porn can also affect people's behavior in real life. What's shown as normal is assumed to be acceptable. Is this one scene going to cause thousands of sexual assaults? No. But is does it move people towards healthy behavior? Also, no.
