Sorry to derail these interesting conversations, but I've been thinking about some things since the "no ntr" discussion from a few days ago. Not about the ntr stuff, mind you, but mainly about one point that was raised (can't remember by whom, sorry) which was "ethically difficult choices seem out of character for this MC who seems to be an inherently good character." After another playthrough of the game (btw, very impressive how much content is in this game so far for only 0.3), I definitely see this as a potential issue, given that the plot has some pretty dark themes and some huge moral issues. Hell, it's already stated that Eternum has had some international ethical issues that happened offscreen, so it got me thinking about how the gang is going to be confronted with the plot-defining ethical dilemmas. I see one potential avenue in Axel. While Axel is pretty well established as a psychopath and intolerable cunt, it's also established that right now he's motivated by his friend Benjamin's untimely and suspicious death. Sooner or later, the gang is going to unravel the mystery behind Ulysses' extrajudicial executions, and I suspect Axel will be present for these revelations, too. I suspect this event will begin a huge shift in Axel's perspective when he witnesses how not even people as powerful as himself and his friends are safe from the Praetorians and whoever controls them. From this point, maybe Axel will act as an ally on the inside to the gang-- not the kind anyone wants but has to tolerate on account of being too valuable. From here, I predict Axel will still be behaving like an intolerable cunt and can potentially offer some ethical dilemmas. No ntr, Caribdis has been clear on that, but more along the lines of...questionable tactics. I've always been interested in these types of character dynamics, where no only likes a certain character but begrudgingly cooperates because they have no better options. Hell, this may even open up the possibility of a heartbreaking betrayal right when it seems like he's coming around. I dunno, I might be reaching here, but I still see so many delicious possibilities in this character.
