Lol, yeah sorry for the wall of text. I actually checked renpy out just now and sure, it is easy to start making a game with it. But that doesn't mean that it's easy to finish making a game with it. From what I have seen it is build to make very simple, short visual novel games. It actually encourages the developer to put all the code for the text and branching paths of the game in a single file. I haven't spent enough time with the thing to know whether there's a way around that, but needless to say that's a pretty damn bad way to structure a bigger game. Given how many hours the games here can take. With some of them having lots of branching paths and some having sandbox elements. It sounds like a nightmare having it all in just one huge file.
Nah. That was probably recommendation for complete beginners (it's easier for them). More experienced coders can easily distribute every piece of code between different files.

Nope, it wasn't a recommendation. It was "This is how this engine works.". Could very well be that there's another way, but a lot of beginners use this engine, so I wouldn't be surprised if most use this way. Download renpy if you don't believe me. To be fair renpy gives you some tools to navigate that huge file and jump from different places, but that's still far from ideal.

That was a huge assumption on your part. We dont know at this point.

There are multiple possibilities.
1.) That guy could have a meltdown that he was banned. Even young people can have a heart attack.

2.) It is also possible he was killed by someone else. It is no secret that a lot of real life money is orbiting around Eternum. Him getting killed means his entire inventory is lost (confiscated). If the lost items were worth a huge amount of money, then somebody might have punished him for it.

Indeed, i agree with you. I just think the most obvious impression one should get from the scene is that there might be a correlation from the real world death of that guy and the ingame execution. And in that case the most obvious conclusion is that there is some kind of conspiracy behind the game.

But of course the story can still take completely different direnctions. Maybe the death of the guy, albeith natural or not, had nothing to do at all with the permaban of the user and the suspicious MC seems to have in the last scene will prove void.

I've just played the game like everyone here, i don't claim i've figured out everything.

It would have been quite startling and a dead giveaway if the teacher had said " he was found with his head blown off by lasers" o_O :ROFLMAO:

So I've just played a bit of Eternum and it's seems like it will be another great game like Once In A Lifetime, if not better.

I like that the developer finally realized the importance of audio and not having N64-tier ground textures.

What I don't like is that the character models are becoming too realistic while most backgrounds are still stuck in the Dreamcast area.
This creates 2 clashing art-styles and it often looks like the character models are copy-pasted 2D sprites rather than 3D models inside the scene.
The lack of character shadows doesn't exactly help either.

Now the developer probably won't switch to Daz3D for this game since it would take a few months to remake everything, but I hope at least his next game will use a better rendering engine, because outdated graphics are the biggest flaw his games have.

Hard disagree. I love the Honey Select style and think it goes really well with the type of games Caribdis makes. Not only would using something like Daz add months of development to each update, it might not even look good since Caribdis would be new to the software. There's a fine line between good looking Daz models and creepy wax figures.

This new game don't have the Humor tag, is it a more serious game of Caridbis ? I really liked the sense of humor of the previous game btw.

Whatever.
RenPy manual might suggest working like that. But I was talking from my own experience with the engine. More experienced coders (can) do it differently.

I agree that slightly-stylized graphics fit his games' setting and humor very well, but his Honey Select background scenes really look extremely dated while most of his female models in this game almost look like Daz3D characters already.
I'd rather have the older worse-looking Honey Select models from his last game and a consistent art-style, instead of what we currently have.

I agree with zerdeca . Backgroung is fine.
To be honest, people mostly care about character models. If there is shitty background, it's still acceptable. If there is a poor female character model, then it is disaster. Boobs!

Changing rendering engine into Daz just to have "nicer background" doesnt justify longer development time. It is no secret, that rending scenes (and animations) using Daz takes much longer time. As one of the Caribdis's paying backers I can tell you, that majority of backers likes the current engine and they dont wish for changes at the cost of longer development time.

TL;DR = As long as girls look hot then 95% of players are happy. Your unusual interest into background is some sort of exception.

PS: Take note that situation may change afters 2 years of Eternum's development. Who knows what engine will be Caribdis using by then.

Okay, so i was high today when i noticed that the itch.io page for eternum was already up. Figured i'd make good on my word and donate thru it.
Here's what i saw on that page:

I fucking thought there were blue tentacle things trying to eat her head in that image! Took me way too long to remember the actual scene and realize that i was just seeing things lol.

I also managed to freak out my bank by forgetting to switch on international payments on my credit card and still trying, repeatedly, to donate internationally. Took 11 or 12 'card declined' messages before the bank called me asking if i got my card stolen or if maybe 'you would like to activate international transactions, sir?'

Anyway, moral of story: Maybe dont use a smartphone or a credit card when you are high.

So far the only thing I came across was the option to spend money and *talk* to a girl that works in an in-game brothel (I skipped it on my first play through, and haven't had time for another yet, so not sure what the end result of that is), and the mention of child prostitution (as well as other black market stuff) somewhere in the game worlds.

answer: MC can visit (high class) brothel and have a sex with an escort (high class prostitute).

Just ignore rest of the nonsense some people have written here. There is no child prostitution and MC doesnt sell out his girls.
