You don't need to be online to play, the "server" is locally run (it's weird, I know)
Ew... You DO need to be online, because your JS includes jQuery (nearly everywhere) from (or similar).
I only managed to play really offline by redirecting that URL to a local file.

Edit: If you are able to play offline on your system, then only because your browser has that file still in it's cache.

So do the attactiveness settings at the start of the game (Male/female/dickgirl, monster/mutant/animal) actually affect anything when it comes to encounters?

I assume it's still like this? Gave it a shot and got the connect error.

Looks interesting, but not going to dick around with ports/security for it.

Sounds like a interesting idea Rayxelm, should have a lot less repetition playing through the game and more of a story focused adventure. Maybe have the same for the AI so you the player could capture and/or keep slaves, just an idea.

I have to say, the way you've set your game up to run is overly problematic. Aside from me, I can see three other commenters here with the same issue.

It shouldn't need the network setup just to run this game on the local computer. I added a port exclusion for the 14928 port used by the game, no dice. Then I tried temporarily disabling the firewall just to test if that resolved the problem, as i wasn't seriously considering leaving my system vulnerable just so I could play some porn, but still no dice.

The game might be great, but there are a bunch of other options that are equally interesting and none of them require me compromising the security of my computer just to run them. So thanks and good luck on your venture, but it's uninstalled for me.

I can't get this game to work and the exe throws errors back at me.
System information:
  • Windows 10
  • japanese local
  • no python whatsoever installed (why does it try to access a folder that doesn't exist? and if python is needed then why is it not listed as a prerequisite?)
  • no user called 'Asia' on this machine (why does it try to access a user folder that doesn't exist?)
  • Ethos of Darkness 1.2.8b

This is what the server window says:
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.
The exe opens a new tab in my browser and I am able to click on 'new game' but after the character creation it says
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

Was it intentional that the armory that was put into the game in 1.2.5 reverted to the normal shop items in 1.2.6-1.2.8?
Having to hack the save game to get weapons that were previously available is so...hacky.

Well, that's a new one.

You don't need Python to run the game, nor create any folder besides what comes in the .zip.

Did you unzip the file before running the .exe?
Yes, I did unzip the files before trying to start the exe.
I did not unzip the library.zip though.
The folder from where I start the game sits in the root of my System Drive C:.
Please see attached file for my screenshot.
Maybe the problem here is japanese regional settings?
As far as I know the peculiarity of transforming backslashes to yen signs is about programms using non-unicode settings/scripting. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I've tried playing multiple times and I still get the collections.abc module error followed by a connection error on the browser. Not to mention that the various reports here have been met with not answers whatsoever.

Pretty happy with how the new character creator window is turning out
Is there anything specific I need to do to run the game. I made post about some of the errors I'm getting 2-3 posts before and as the developer I'm guessing you're the best person to ask.

On 1.2.10 I also get the collections.abc error (and have since version 1.2.5 - but not 1.2.4), but it doesn't stop the game working.
After you click the exe, a browser window/tab should open, a progress bar take one or two seconds and then a play button appears, click this and it should be self explanatory from there. If your web browser opens but it doesn't work as I described, disconnect yourself from the internet, disable firewalls/virus check etc and try again. 1.2.10 (at least - I haven't checked the others) does not require a internet connection.
