I think it would have been better to keep it a vn even if that meant longer time for updates or smaller updates.

I mean, the game was good.
But as pure novel/book without the ''harem-smut'' i frankly don't think it's really engaging enough.
The story was kinda interesting, but it's the girls and the relationship with them which made it a good game.
Trust me, I'm well aware that if I just write the book with the story as it is in the game right now it won't be any good. No one's a bigger critic of my own game than me. The start will have some changes to make it more engaging and overall the story will be restructured to keep what people like but actually make the story more interesting than the way it was in game. I had no idea what I was doing at the start and moving forward it felt like I was just trying to salvage the plot from early mistakes.

I'm not trying to convince anyone to read my book, just explaining my point of view on this because I completely get the criticism I'm receiving and there's nothing I've read that I haven't already told myself and decided to work on to make it better.

Keep in mind I started 0.1 with no writing experience and since stopping the game I've been practicing and learning more on top of learning from having developed the game

Well, if you manage to get it on Audible, and with a human narrator, I'll probably check it out. Good luck.

As much as I enjoyed Evermore, it is your creativity that drives the creation.

While I would prefer more of this enjoyable AVN, it would not be as successful if you did not feel the same creative drive to continue this story as you did in the early revs when you were creating it.

Perhaps writing it as a novel will inspire you to tell more of this AVN or to tell a completely new story in AVN format.

GL with your choice and follow your creative passion!

Cheers!! :coffee:

The story in better writing does have potential. And while the smut would certainly be too much for a regular novel I would still hope for actual relationships throughout the story's progression. Too many epic fantasy stories forget certain parts of an immersive world and what makes human characters human. You had some dynamics going on that I like a lot and I'm sure others will agree. So while it will be different, the one thing I'm actually looking forward to the most would be the characters still acting (somewhat) like they did so far.
The AVN will certainly stay in the mind of those that enjoyed it.

Are you planning for a physical release or staying digital? And what platforms are you eyeing for in case of the latter?
Wish you good luck and godspeed.

Edit: And thank you for telling those that might be interested so we get a chance to follow up. I can imagine that with your name attached it would certainly have been easier to not tell your AVN community and move on to regular novel format without old "ballast", so to speak.

I don't want to piss on anyone's dream, but what made this a really great game was the girls. The story... was kinda the least interesting aspect of it. I think this was one of the best games on here as it had heart and interesting characters, but if anything the 'story' kinda of got in the way of the best parts when suddenly a Dragonball Z like character would show up and demand to be taken seriously. It's a real pity not to see it continue for the characters I liked seeing though.

I'll have to disagree I liked the story and couldn't say it was the lease interesting aspect of the game

I don't expect it to be some mega success best seller, but I do want to finish the story and writing is what I really ended up liking about doing the project so it was only natural for it to go this way. As I said in the announcement I know it's disappointing for some and I fully expect to lose readers with the change.

I was going to write it whether I published it or not anyways since I just love the world I created, and I almost decided to write it apart from the AVN community, but I know some people do want to see how the story progresses so the announcement is for them. If that's not you, that's fine. There's plenty of talented devs with fun games out there to play.
It's pity you can't finish the game at some point. I seriously loved the game with its quirky cast. But in any case i wish you luck with your book.

The beginning is a bit off-putting for new players. From my experience I was initially confused from the sudden tone shift.

I had an accident, and typing hurts a lot, but I wanted to write this after enjoying my first playthrough of Evermore. Writing-wise, it's better than 99% of AVN.

As far as criticisms go, I don't have many. My main one would be that during the last part of the game, it devolves a bit into a fuckfest. For instance, the scene with Emily and Marianne could've used some checking-in and build-up. And the number of new characters introduced in the latest chapter made it difficult for me to remember who's who.
Choices and variables seem to be adhered to, except that Aria_path doesn't get it right. This variable determines if the MC tells Emily whether he's a virgin or not, but it's set to true by default and remains true even if the MC watches TV with Aria but doesn't kiss her. One final nitpick I have is that the use of "spirit" and "soul" is too confusing. These are words that have a widely accepted meaning and connotation, and every time they got brought up, I had to remind myself that a soul works differently in this story than how I understand it. One way around this would be to name these concepts differently to avoid this kind of disconnect.

That said, if this is the worst criticism I have, then you did a bang-up job where I'm concerned. The characters were likeable and consistent. The humor worked, and there were some great bits of foreshadowing that weren't too on the nose. And, importantly, you respected "show, don't tell" in this visual format.
Evermore tells me that you had the basics down two years ago, albeit hindered by inexperience. And if your writing and eye for detail kept evolving during this time, as they did between 0.1 and 0.5, then I'd be happy to buy your book.

Hi - PrometheusEVN

I definitely respect your decision, BUT do you REALLY know what you are doing?

Why don't you go and check how many self-publish erotic books are written now (harem, reverse harem, etc). We are talking about hundreds of writers/authors (whose names I have personally seen on some Internet lists) who wrote many thousands and thousands of erotic books in the last five-ten years only (and yes, some of them have a link to Patreon too).

I guess, as long as you feel that you can compete with them then no big deal.

The developer of this game https://f95zone.to/threads/the-office-wife-v0-92-public-j-s-deacon.44541/ wrote at least twenty books and then for some reasons he decided to convert one of his book into this game (which is quite popular - although I did not check this game status recently).

I wonder why he decided to make this big change...

PS: I am just curious - why such a big change (from the game developer to the writer): is it image rendering (or something else)?

He already said it; because with his job, he don't have time to make a game anymore.
