A remake is just a way for a dev to add more content while extending their game but in turn the consumer needs to enjoy it for it to be a hit.

This just feels like a side step way to add more while not really giving anything but the perception of adding more.

honestly thought the game was dead. really enjoyed the original from what i played and even though a remake isn't ideal its better than dead. boyfriends are not a great addition as i don't see how their inclusion helps but not my game. as long as the updates keep coming and the game actually finishes I'm happy.

What's the point to call it chapter 1 when the events in this chapter happen before some in the prologue?,especialy since it seem to be the continuation of the first episode of the prologue.
And not sure if i understand why starting it before the prologue itself is finished if it's the first chapter, the only thing it accomplish is to confusing players even more since the temporality feel all over the place.

I think they're supposed to be LI prologues to give them more character backstory/introductions but yea... it confuses everyone when the story jumps around so much on the timeline between the prologues, especially since the MC is in them as well and we're left asking "wtf this hasn't happened yet"

Prologues should culminate with them seeing the MC arriving like a meteor and going after it or not, since only some of them went to see it. Keeps the storyline in order without confusing anyone. Older players will know it's the MC and newer players will wonder what it is.

Yeah, it reminds me of the Star Wars movie release order. Let's start at a point in the story where people are supposed to know things that aren't shown yet. It's a sloppy approach, I think. The "remake" should have started at the prologue and went from there. It was also still very early for a remake to begin with. It's like making a demo and remaking it. Not pointing fingers at the dev, but I don't know where their head was at doing it this way.

Well, gotta say those "Developer Notes" are about as clear as mud. In addition to that releasing parts of Ch 1 before the Prologue is finished isn't getting me excited to play this release. Will probably just wait until the prologue is finished before coming back to this one.

Don't worry, the fingers have already been pointed at me. The main point of the Prologues were to give a lot of the LIs that we see first more backstory before the meet with the MC. Now, when I released Episodes 2 and 3 of the Prologues, you could probably say I wasn't really thinking clearing and get confused, which is pretty fair looking back at it, I won't lie.

I'm thinking of moving all but the MC's Prologue into a separate section in the Extras tab (which is greyed out in the menu). That way, it's just all of his/your story being told, and I could add in more Prologues in the future, past the eight originally planned. I'm not cutting out content... it's just being moved to mitigate some confusion

Probably the better way to do it. That or lock the prologues until you reach that specific part in the story. Like you can't see the dinner until you get to the end of the episode that it's in. Since yea... things are happening with characters that new players have no idea who they are, so backstory means nothing to them just yet.

You know, it's interesting that you said that, because I kept that very same scene in the Remake... in the Legacy Edition, you see all the girls look into the sky to see a "meteor" falling down. Of course, some of the stuff did change, like how the MC, Lily, and Jyn all met each other.

I'm not too sure about that, but it did cross my mind before. To be honest, and this was a thing with the Legacy Edition too... a lot of the stuff I don't particularly think of beforehand (which I really need to get better at). I just do it, and adjust from there, which isn't entirely ideal of long term. I'm learning from my mistakes, even taking in some of the harsh feedback, and working to make it a better experience for everyone.

I think a lot of the confusion is from there being prologues plural. Instead of just having one that incorporates them all as any story should, they are all just jumbled together from different povs and time frames. It's disorganized at best. I think it's better to have backstories for non MCs unfold naturally as the story goes on. Otherwise you get what is happening now, or worse yet, massive lore dumps that no one wants to slog through.

That would be another way to do it. A short-story almost that shows all/most of the mainline LI and the climax is them seeing the meteors overhead. Something to give you a sense of who they are and what the relationship hook with them would be (in the case of the LI who recently got dumped). TBH, anything would be better than the story jumble right now and with however many more are coming out it'll only get worse.

I haven't played this game in so long but I really liked the original, the remake would probably be alright if it didn't jump around so much, it's hard to make sense of and I get what you were going for with the whole giving the girls boyfriends thing but all it did was piss me off. I'll come back in a few months to see if there's improvements because I really did love it the first time I played it. The game is just kinda not good right now, doesn't mean it can't be good in the future, I just think the remake hasn't really done you any favors yet. Good luck with development!

I agree. For me it would of made more sense if this story flowed and progressed like the original version. As I still don't understand why the whole story had to be scraped...instead of just injecting new content into the already created content.

As I mentioned this in an earlier post, and even after relaying from the starting again...I still found it difficult to stay interested in wanting to read this story. I even missed out on some of the prologue content, due to how the new menu presented it. (I clicked the continue choice, and missed out on the two other prologue scenes...which didn't fit the story presented so far. But after reading in the forms that some of girls have boyfriends...I looked again and found where I missed out on the content mentioned.)

So I'm really hoping the story will come together like the previous version.

Regards

so can we agree that the remake was a waste of time?

straight up making some LIs worse, jumping around the timeline so that we have no idea when what happened.
I really is kind of a mess right now. The way it's handled is like it's trying to write a separate main story for every LI as if they are a MC and it just doesn't work. Something like a multi-protag game, though it isn't, as far as I know.

I wasn't a fan of the forced content of the original and I couldn't get through what is there now because of how disjoined it is, I don't know what's going on. I will wait several updates to revisit this one and if the prologue hasn't been cleaned up I'll end up passing on this one. Also if the "you have to fuck everyone and do everything anyway" scenes are still there. It would just be another KN in disguise.

Here's hoping.
