Galatea will be implemented after we finish relocating our mocap studio out of the US and in the mean time we are obliged to discuss with Steam staff regarding whether it is allowed to show her nudity and where the line is drawn.
+
-[USER] I see, so Galatea could be censored on the steam version, but will be uncensored on the patreon version?
-[Project Helius] Can't say for sure at the moment.
WTF?

So they are going to follow SJW route. What's the point of steam release then and adding her at all? Couldn't they just make an external patch like many other developers?

Last week steam announced a new rule prohibiting developers to provide external links and even info for game purchasing and downloading (yes, "patches" included) from sources other than steam. I'm sure it has something to do with that.

They don't need to post links on steam though.

Lol, I would love to see their discussion with the steam staff. btw. steam was responsible for censorship in Kagura Games releases (changing scenes with shotas/lolis, replacing shotas with "gnomes") and the reason for them to abandon completely R18 steam versions. And this was in games with "cartoon/anime" art style, not 3D game with realistic graphics.
Also, are they really going to release a game with bestiality on steam? I mean let's be honest about it - "demon" (or rather lovecraftian) dogs, insects and horses are still dogs, insects and horses...
If they are going to censor it, then why not make SFW version - even if their gameplay will be shit, sexy girls in sexy costumes will sell anyway. Tbh, R18 version will probably sell less than R15 version - there is a reason why Kagura doesn't even bother with releasing R18 stuff on steam anymore.

At this point it's pretty clear that they have no idea how to publish and sell their game (which is pretty common for many indie projects). They are making a game with some really niche fetishes and rather hardcore content and then they are going to censor it so they can put it on a platform like steam... This seems like a really poor decision-making.

It was quite nice in the start, when Steam decided R18 games were OK. But recently they're been removing things left and right, I wonder if they hired some terrible staff that's making those decisions. I didn't know about the 'no external links & patches' news. If the files are not on your platform you're not responsible and shouldn't be in control. It's almost like banning games for mods that violate their TOS. I'm honestly very disappointed in Steam.
You were the chosen one Gaben :(

I never understood the point of putting porn games on steam, it's just asking for trouble.
It's pretty simple, Steam has a lot of users. Compared to every other adult game storefront combined, Steam likely still comes out far ahead in number of potential customers. Even the lowest quality games still get a decent number of customers. So as a hentai game dev, successfully getting the game onto Steam will give it much more exposure than sticking to adult stores and word of mouth. That potential increase in revenue can be worth the trouble working out how to censor the game so it can stay.

At least they seem to be making a legitimate gameplay component. So worst case scenario, they strip out the porn and still get some money in as a game. Though right now the demo seems to just be a simulator game so we'll see how it goes.

Okay, so this one straight up caused my PC to restart. What's up with that?
Bit more info could help. OS? GPU?
Did you check for thermal shutdown warning in logs?
UE games make my RX5600xt GPU do odd things when the AMD drivers decide to reset the fan curve because because. Tho in that case I get greenscreen. I used to get restart with thermal issues with my old nvidia card.

So it's a GaoGaiGar parody?
Basically. It's harder to attract attention initially. There are a lot of 3d VNs out there. It's hard to grab someone's attention with a regular game. 3d vanilla is also competing with normal porn as well.

There is no real giant bug fucking, so it's kind of it's own thing. They are basically creating a new market that has little to no competition. But it is a limited market.
Plus vanilla and wish-fulfillment are just so limited in their context, the most you can do is probably do is rape and netori since the guy doing the fucking still has to be the generic dweeb who has a role that the audience can still identify with. Add that to the fact that wish-fulfillment makes up 80-90% of all porn and it's just almost impossible to stand out. Plus, maybe this stuff is just part the developer's fetish.

Even then, despite the name of the game being Lovecraftian horror, a large chunk of it is still devoted the generic audience insert guy, who has way more scenes than any of the individual creatures, cuz there will always be a sizable audience for that.

im willing to bet your gpu has ran out of memory and caused a fatal error thus casusing windows to restart try running on medium/low settings :D
nah.
sounds like a thermal restart.
running out of vram usually tells you that vram just died

PSU overload, protection sets in.
Common problem if you save to much on the PSU side or aren't really sure what your requirements are, restarts are pre programmed when you already on the Edge for your overall Power Consumption Requirements just 1 title that takes a bit more or your not calculated overclocking consumption of the entire Capacity can show you that you saved to much on the wrong side of things and now you have a stability problem and most likely will have to reinvest into a new PSU again.
Maybe you can escape buying a new PSU just by running non overclocked than you are really lucky, tough if you calculated extremely wrong neither running non OCed will avoid Stability issues a new PSU than will be no other option :(
Calculate always a bit of headrom in your PSU for deviations in your System configuration and changes, especially if you plan to overclock it will stress the PSU more.
To high Consumption Peaks above the Physical abilities of the PSU or above a certain time and boom restart (protection sets in).
it is in 90% cases this as it is still hard for a beginner to understand this only that the PSU cables fit doesn't guarantee a stable operation.
To cheap for a PSU can be bad to expensive isn't good either you have to calculate your overall requirements to make the right economical choice for your case and achieve a stable system operation also with slightly changing power requirement shifts such as overclocking or adding additional consumers or replacing lower power consumers with higher ones.

Under normal System conditions the Driver and Graphics API should avoid this from happening only thing you should get is warning running out of memory then the application is going to crash (or when you are master lucky the streaming system and combination with the OS Memory management is so good that it will reduce it's memory footprint without crashing at all) but not the Operating System.
If your PC restart because of this something is very wrong in your overall System stability and at some point failing.

thats alright :D windows usually manages to salvage it but not always
It shouldn't fail on this not on a High Level API it could fail on DX12 or Vulkan in the worst case, their must be something else going on.
Restart on a stable Windoze System these days because of this is highly unlikely, except maybe the 1 millions Windows 10 change update that brakes something again without you even really realizing it broke through the hidden update ;)
