that the western market/media would be outraged to see on digital storefronts...
And which are actually illegal in some countries (both Galatea and the "alien" horse), depending on how (un)willing the powers-that-be are to pretend the aliens are not animals.
Greed has made them both blind and stupid - trying to push their game on Steam is a very dumb move, both because there is really no rhyme or reason to what games get a pass and what don't (far as people can figure out, it depends on whoever is doing the reviewing and their current mood and little else) and also because the game is bound to cause a huge stink if it gets popular.
If enough people complain or if some countries ban the game Steam will simply just remove it and call it a day, rather than go through the hassle of bothering to selectively prevent people from affected countries from being able to buy it.
I'm no expert, but I can't really think of any other game on Steam that has this kind of content.
how to get bad reviews 101
Pretty much, yes. It's a completely moronic way to handle the game and a surefire way to piss off anyone that isn't part of the Patreon and hasn't been following the project for a while.
He's actually wrong about the SFW and NSFW content being divided - that was the original plan but they walked back on it after people called them complete imbeciles for it - but the simple fact they even contemplated such a moronic scheme goes to show how deep in their own bubble they are.
As it currently stands they're gonna have a bad time on Steam. People are gonna find the game, google it, see the promotional material, buy the game, fire it up and then look for the mutliplayer exclusive content and find out it's, well, exclusive to the multiplayer and get pissed off, leave a negative review and refund.
I can't wait to see the developers panic and try to walk back on more of their bullshit after the initial negative reception.
