This is some superior VR fuckin right here - monitoring this thread because it looks like the pancake version is ahead in updates and the VR one is behind - but maybe that's just the current release from dev.
Everyone once in a while the sounds mess up so I gotta swap out characters but otherwise it's flawless

Basically some flavour text, some renders of two models and a bit of (surprise surprise) concept art.

Interesting that Helius claims to have hired two character artists. They post new characters and assets literally constantly, render and concept art are this Patreon's primary output at this point, do they really need more? Given that they've only actually managed to get three main characters into the game and one map out the door it just strikes me as weird.

They've posted enough still renders of characters and other assets over the years to make multiple games, we've never seen so much as a whiff of actual gameplay and it just took them 8 months for a "rebuild" that by all accounts seems to have added genital dilation and done an optimization pass over the game... if anything it sounds like they need devs.

they could've released something with what they have in terms of resources, game material and devs, what they lack is proper leadership, because the leadership has changed their minds about 10 thousand times so far when it came to wtf this game was supposed to become.
Goddamn though, if animations like the ones make it into the game, I will be thankful tho

Why would he release something? There are 15,000+ idiots who, no matter what, donate to him on patreon. And he feeds them only with concepts and promises. And I can't understand why this game is being so actively discussed here? It's disposable and boring. I watched a couple of new animations and don't run it until the next update.

I believe some people spend way too much time talking about this game. There's not much else to say regarding the development of it, at this point is clear as day is a scam and it's been 4 years. A serious and committed small development team would have finished already at least a fraction of a completely playable story/game. They haven't. Same animation gallery as in the initial release only that online only and filled with microtransactions, bugs and performance issues.

I do hope all these kind of games reach the completion state, I want the adult gaming industry to become mainstream just like porn is, but with name dropping, scamming fuckers like Helius? I don't see that happening.

Galatea was basically dead the moment they chose Steam as a distribution channel, excuses like "she's technically a robot" or "she's actually a 3,000 year old alien" aren't going to fly.

You likely haven't tried the VR version. It's miles beyond anything else I've seen. Haven't played the non-Vr version though.

Important correction: 8 Years. Two times more. The PH released the demo in 2014 with "next year release" promise and started milking their idiots-patrons. Minimum 15.000 idiots milking at least 10$ per month - that's 150.000$ per month, 8 years * 12 months = 96 m., about 14.4 millions dollars. Including 20$ and 30$ patrons, and even 220$ "forever access" it is more than 15 million dollars.
What kind of mega idiot would ever release this game scam and kill that golden diamond cow?!

PHplusSTUDIO was founded by some netizens of ZODGAME forum, a well-known Chinese HGAME forum who has localized a lot of ILLUSION works.

So he's just some dude who used to help translate ILLUSION games.

Also his old ZODGAME handle is grrr0087 if someone familiar with Chinese and Chinese sites wants to go read back further, from what I can tell he had optimization issues even back then.

I haven't tried that. Well, I'll run it not once, but twice. It won't change the essence. All such games are interesting only as long as there are character or scene updates or possible customization of characters/poses. It's just a set of animations. We are not saying that there are not so many of them and that not all of them can be liked.
That's why people are waiting for an update, because this version is already boring and uninteresting

Well I don't think anybody suspected him of being some rockstar developer. My favourite quote was when he was asked why he hadn't heard from the rebuild team in months and he said "I think that's normal in agile development." Like, buddy, hearing a dev say that is embarrassing.

It would certainly explain a lot if they were just a bunch of randoms from some modding forum having a play around in Unreal Engine though. It covers everything from their trouble with optimisation to them being perfectly capable of churning out high quality models and textures but completely incapable of putting an actual game together or managing a project.

There's a mile of difference between being a software developer for google and bethesda and having been a translator outsource for illusion who modded in his spare time.

I made a little tweak using 3Dmigoto to get rid of the hard shadows at higher settings. You know that stuff where just moving the camera will cast a harsh shadow over the characters. ...

any way to make this work with 0.34?

Edit: Turns out I was pasting the files in the wrong directory. It works just fine.

Anyways, upon further testing I found out that some shadows are still being cast, Alet's eyes and tongue, and monster like the hound, the reptile, the ghast, the basatan, the insects , the lloigor and the pterodactyl, as well as the tentacle things still cast shadows. I'd tweak it myself if I had the knowledge, but yeah. Still good stuff.

I can see your point, it does get boring, of course. There's plenty of animation loops out there so in that aspect it's not anything special.
All I wanted to say is that the VR version is kind of mindblowing, because you can move around and see everything from different angles, like you're there. But I suppose eventually it does get old as well.

This seems to describe every VR game. There's nothing really special about Helius' implementation of VR.
