He only canceled those because he lost most of his work in a hard drive failure. I don't blame people for thinking it's sketchy but he did immediately start working on the current game and has made good progress on it.

As much as i hate helius as a scammer, Fallen Doll 0.47 was amazing and squeezed a ton of nuts out of me.

It's a real shame that Helius is aware that Fallen Doll 0.47 is the only thing he ever released that actually works, so he took down any ability to download it despite still offering it as a benefit for supporting on patreon.

How anyone can say Helius isnt scamming people when the patreon rewards for Operation Lovecraft are STILL cut "patron" features from when Fallen Doll was about a stripper which doesnt even exist anymore is incredible.

He is literally selling shit that doesnt exist and never will and has been for like 2.5 years now.

Operation Lovecraft is pure, unarguable proof that people will spend 4-500 dollars on 3-5 second animation loops so long as the models look like theyre from a Unreal 4 PS5 port of a PS4 game.

Nothing else matters but the model quality.

I blame the gaming industry as a whole, Helius was not the first and will not be the last. Take Square Enix for example, they are notorious for taking decades to deliver games and sometimes they are plagued with optimization problems, bad textures... And don't get me started on the Pc ports...
I have a good rig, but making Final Fantasy VII Intergrade work properly was a nightmare, mods for this, external configuration for that... Players should not be responsible for bad ports, but here we are. Team Ninja is also notoriously known for delivering shitty ports to PC players.
But even when we are not talking about ports, the gaming industry is full of people making promises, taking years to show progress (with a big development team behind those games) and when it's finally time to deliver the game, we the players, receive an undercooked game, full of bugs, missing features and the only way to play decently is trying to fix it with mods. In my opinion, Helius is a consequence of the way this market operates.

That may be true, or it could be an excuse. There are methods to recover data from dead drives, including professional services. Furthermore what kind of sane dev doesn't back up their work? He makes a living of this and doesn't have git, or at least a .zip in an external hdd or any of the available cloud solutions?

You're right it does sound sketchy, it's quite the stretch tbh, but then who knows, maybe he is actually very bad at planning. After all we shouldn't attribute to malice what can be attributed to incompetence.

Like I said I don't blame you for doubting it especially given everything happening with OL and basically every other 3D porn game. But the excuse was believable enough for me, I know from personal experience that data loss with no backups is a bitch and even with data recovery some things are just gone forever. Aside from that he got back to work as soon as he determined the old game was unsalvageable and since the current game is basically a remake of the previous one I really don't see how intentionally nuking the old one would benefit him in any way. He remade the entire game from almost nothing in about the same amount of time it took Helius to slap Denuvo on OL.

Fair enough, data loss is a bitch for sure. I too learned to make backups of everything the hard way.

I just hope Helius gets his shit together and stops the gacha nonsense and all that, so I can actually justify giving him money. Right now, that's not the case. I bought other games that I liked from around here, so the bar isn't even set that high tbh.

I don't have a horse in this race, but I would go with The Elder Scrolls 6.

Helius more or less announced 3 weeks ago what will happen if the game dies.
He's going to make an asset flip using Lovecraft's models and wait for the cash to flow again on patreon.
There's no hope for this project, he might as well kill it in 6 months we a pityfull "we don't have enough money blablabla" and start milking his patreon cashcows for another 2 or 3 years.
