What happened the last update that was so controversial?
I used to be subbedto the patreon for this game - stupid mistake on my part, basically he kept telling us on patreon and on discord for like 5 straight months "it's almost done, I'm so close, I just need to make this hotter and get it just right!" and then the actual update comes out, and it's one awful blow job scene where she has a panic attack, freaks out, throws up, and thinks about quitting her job at the cia... even though in the previous updates she let's a dude rape her, let's a a bunch of other dudes creampie her multiple times, blows a guy for drugs, etc., it felt so overly dramatic and didn't fit at all and, justifiably, we got really frustrated in the discord. He and the artist and discord mods spent days apologizing but, it was honestly pathetic and a bunch of longtime subs like myself bailed.

Yep. This is usually happening when you don't know how to progress you story. There aren't any complete plan with a straight sequence of events: everething is vague
Because of that it's not possible to implement any decision tree like classic RPG has, there are no choises at all.
You can't plan anything because you don't know what will happen in the future

The lack of such plan means that it's impossible to plan at all - you just don't know which pass to choose and because of that the development process intself is so slow and the last big update is so controversial

This is the reason why some people call it scam - the development doesn't have straight plan, the dev doesn't have milstones and you may pay for such develoment forever

Similar journey for me a couple years earlier. Such a shame.
I guess I'm still - sometimes - getting sucked back into the new updates...

And yet there are - obviously - still enough who keep supporting him despite the objectively slow progress and as of late inferior story telling. Usually I admire and appreciate supporters but in this case I blame them for letting Crush continue this miserable charade. Stop the support and show him that he can't continue like this! There needs to be progress, REAL progress. No more new fabulous features (which noone ever notices anyway), no more rework "improvements", no more bullshit! Just plain and simple progress! Significantly faster and with way more substance. And THEN the support may continue...

Yeah, sure. Cry babies. Toxic fanbase! Rascists and misogynists!
Hmm. Where did I hear that before?
Probably in a dozen other threads for long-ongoing games on this forum. But it's not exactly unwarranted observation, even if people who complain no doubt feel fully justified in doing so.

Money more than likely. But if we were to assume the creator was being malicious, then constant creative directional changes is also a factor.
I think you are right about the constant creative changes. He is a perfectionist but lacks the skill to make it right, so then he throws away what he previously did but makes it worse.

Look at the avatar system. It was REALLY good, but said it was to time consuming to make new clothing. So he rebooted it, and made it worse. He could have... just stopped making new clothing or just done less of it. Nope lost 6 months to a year rebooting something that didn't need to be changed.

I don't think he is a scammer. He just is a horrible manager and makes poor decisions on what to spend his time on. He is trying, but always misidentifies the problem. People complain about episodes take to long to come out, so he released one quickly but now it's to short. His productivity is the problem, which could be supplemented with hiring employees to help... but he doesn't want to do that.

People just need to accept that this is a linear corruption game that has updates that are really slow. Probably best to not support him until Crush changes, which is not likely...

Is the writing being assisted/augmented/generated using ChatGPT now? Nobody uses the word "derriere" except ChatGPT in porn mode, as it comes up with any euphemism possible to avoid using lewd language, unless specifically instructed to do so with a word that is also a euphemism.

I'm neither for, nor against the use of ChatGPT, but a good writer is still better than ChatGPT at this point.

Crush is a lot of things, but he doesn't strike me as someone who would use AI to write the game. He's always had a thing for flowery language anyway.

TBH There's a pretty big issue in a lot of media with ultra-toxic, terminally online Twitter/youtube "fans" just constantly screeching and drowning out actual discussion. These people are less than 1% of the audience but they dominate all discussion.

It's like people don't realize that if you don't like something....just don't watch/read/play it and go do something you actually enjoy.

For example - search for anything related to Star Wars on youtube and your results will be full of bloated, middle aged men screeching into the abyss about how this series made to sell toys to literal children doesn't appeal to them lmao. Like bruh, you should less concerned about Luke Skycuck and and more concerned with your cholesterol. You're literally falling apart, ya fat fuck. Go do your taxes.

It's pretty messed up and toxic, but TBH I'm here mainly to enjoy the flame wars between Crush's detractors and occasional white knights

Speaking of ChatGPT... is the latest five star review (starting: "This game boasts intricate and immersive storylines, offering players an unparalleled gaming experience...") written by it?

Well, I would say things are a bit more complicated than that. While what you describe has and still does happen since probably the beginning of media. There is a difference between picking something new up not licking it and then complaining about it and being a long time fan of something only to see it change to chase a new audience while alienating the old fans. Especially if this also proves to be an economically bad decision, where the new version looses way more old fans than it gains new ones. Just look at how many box office disasters Disney has produced in the last few years. That kind of also proves that it isn’t always the minority (at least not the minority of those willing to spend money on something) that is complaining. I can understand why people get really angry about having one of their favorite thing turned into something they hate and why they feel the need to vent. The internet is in the unfortunate position that it simply is the least risky place to vent your negative emotions.

Sometimes it feels like those big budget content creators know they can no longer produce quality content and so decide to try milking established fan bases of a few bucks before those realized the have been duped. But then again the atrociously large budgets they really only have a snowball’s chance in hell of recouping are a pretty big contradicting factor. Maybe humanity just collective lost the ability to learn from failure and change their approach when something doesn’t work? Or at least the ability to remove people, who are incapable of learning, from positions of power and influence before something catastrophic happens. Would explain a lot about the current world.

But back on topic, I don’t think the lack of content creation is the biggest problem given how much good content was created only to be removed again. Yeah, the extensive character creation of earlier versions clearly couldn’t receive more than a wink and a nod in the actual game but it was pretty interesting in its own right and was a great opportunity for role playing and justifying your later decisions. On that note, I hope he makes proper use of the great setup he has create for getting the MC into prostitution. They whole Emilia is pushed by her boyfriend and obviously insecure and vulnerable, coupled with the explicitly stated threat that one of the barmaids would have to move on to prostitution or be fired just screams sadistic choice. Either our agents puts her foot down stays a bargirl and sees Emilia coerced into prostitution or she compromises her integrity and dignity much further still to spare her that fate for now. I think that would be a fairly believable way to justify the MC agreeing to prostitution. Would also give her handlers reason to worry whether she gets too emotionally attached to her colleagues and whether that might jeopardize the mission as the MC is making decisions no longer on just what is most expedient for the mission but also takes her fellow bargirls' wellbeing into account (which will clearly be at odds with what is best for the mission).

I think this is the only reason to be here on a regular basis, and it's the only reason that I am here either. The most compelling topic at hand for most of FA's existence has been the schedule (2nd most compelling: development strategies), and I have to wonder about any who haven't made up their minds about that yet. Every time I see something about FA content itself, it turns out to be content that is purely linear and otherwise too simplistic to hold up a conversation for long. Still, I see a vast range of opinions, and this has always made the thread more interesting. Normally the praise that I see is vague or questionable, and the critiques of the content are detailed and striking enough that I know I wouldn't like new-format FA. I'm not telling anyone what to do, mind you, but just remarking on why I've been here for a while. Most of the creativity associated with FA has been the posts here.
