A game with complex writing and multiple decisions and an excellent and charismatic predefined female main character that evolves her personality during the game, as Good Girl Gone Bad, makes +7.000 $ per month in Patreon.
Comparing this to GGGB is a stretch. That game has a heavy focus on high quality, stylized art in a visual novel type game, it's even a selling point in the patreon, games like that TEND to make much more than TEXT-BASED. GGGB has been around longer, has more exposure AND has very frequent content based updates, massive factors in earnings. Also your argument would essentially boil down to, if the archtype/formula a game uses is not the most popular it should be switched, that would make almost every game the same and lump them into arbitrary styles.
A game with complex writing and multiple decisions that mostly are fake ones that doesn't have any impact in the game, and a configurable female main character just for the avatar
Depends, if they give the illusion of importance they most certainly matter, that's all they're really there for in the first place, only so many decisions can truly matter in a game, especially an indie game, even GGGB only effects what sex scenes you get, the game itself still ends up in the same destinations just different routes (how pretty much all these games work). The agency you work for has already played a role, it effects the road stop scene, college; her answers to the contest questions, her sexual preferences; what she can do in bed. All this adds immersion, the game is young but IMO it's already doing a good job of not forcing these into the story and making them feel natural.
the difference is not the text-based system. There is a lot to read in GGGB.
It's literally the difference between a text-based and visual novel game, VNs make usually make MUCH more in sales even with lesser quality writing and content.
I know that I'm not going to make friends in this thread being critic with the game, even if it's a constructive critic.
That's pretty much all I do here and I'm positive in posts to likes, you gotta make critiques that factor in peoples tastes, if it were up to me all games would be fem mc corruption, but when I see a game not take that route your criticism should keep the devs intent in mind and help make their vision better not alter it completely. I get you don't like a custom avatar/story, I also understand why but obviously a lot of us do.
Problem is, fanboys are the worst enemies of the devs. People that just please the ear of others are the worst people to listen.
True, I love the game and think it has potential but I'm no fanboy. The dev could definitely be pumping out more content with the amount their receiving on patreon and given the game is not a VN (no wait on art assets or an artist) for those reason I don't pledge
