On the other hand if the protagonist does charity out of his heart and helps people in need, there might be a possibility he gets taken out by Lucien and his big goon should he delve deeper into their criminal activities, or perhaps his other associates will do that hit. He realized he could've died at that drug den when he went there with Risa (and Nicki later angrily reminded him of that once he was safely back at the studio).
Hm, it's a realistic possibility for a character in this kind of situation, but I think it would be a terrible ending for the protagonist in a VN and would just piss off and confuse players for no real gain in story or gameplay. I mean, if you were an author, would you tank your own game like that? I'm sure there will be differences in outcomes depending on how you play the MC, just nothing that self-defeating.

It does seem specific dark routes will be a notable exception, though. I guess that will ruin the power fantasy for some dark path enjoyers, but it feels right for the story as well as the MC's arc, and it maintains the believable and internally consistent setting that the author has established (besides just being what the author wants to write, of course). After all, even the most powerful abusers can eventually get caught, and Guy is no where near that level.

Although, I could be wrong, but I think the plan might be that you can get away with darker decisions, as long as you 'play it smart' and don't go too far. I mean, obviously there's a big differences between smacking Ashe around and assaulting Dash and leaving it at that, versus graping everything that walks. :p

Could also see an ending - probably on the dark path, but possibly on any path, where he ends up back at the convenience store till pondering the decisions he made.

Haha, yeah. And it could be executed in multiple ways, actually; a just desserts ending where we see our protagonist lose his 'empire'; or it could be a return to meager means, except this time he has a much better perspective and outlook on things and has a true romance with one of the LIs (Nicki would be the most meaningful, but anyone really).

Ok, maybe a lot of people would consider that to be a bad ending, but there are plenty of movies where someone goes from poor to rich to poor again, but it ends up being good for the character in the long run. That's sort of what I'm picturing.

Could have multiple good endings really: one where he keeps his wealth and lives the dream happily ever after; and one where he loses it but learns that money isn't as important to him as he once thought; perhaps he ends up giving it all away to those in need or something, becoming Saint Guy . I like that, actually; not to pressure the author, but I do hope we get a nice variation of endings depending on our choices/preferences. :giggle:

Between serial rapist Guy threatening people and waving money in their faces and Lucien meeting the victims himself, in public, I don't know which is the dumbest villain. But, I hope both end up bleeding to death from their assess in prison :cautious::Kappa:

The dark path to me is about Guy pushing away everyone who has ever tried to help him. He will die sad and alone in a prison of his own making.
can't died alone and in prison if you have right amount of money and influence at right place :WeSmart:.
unless the dev decide to write dark path mc as ooga booga caveman

I didn't mean real prison, I mean Guy will be sitting in his fancy apartment full of useless things, but he won't have friends or family, and he will be left mentally broken and alone.

That's like, your opinion man. You just projected your own set of morality into someone of completely different personality than you. Life isn't sunshine and rainbow. Unless you believe there's only good and evil in this world.

He's already pushed Nicki away and more will follow, what do you think evil Guy will be like at the end of the game? do you think He'll get off scott free?

I can see any number of endings. I'm pretty sure that the darkest paths will lead you to a bad end sooner or later - though I don't know what that looks like. On just about every path though MC is headed back toward being poor. He's very rich but he's burning through money at a rapid pace and not investing in anything that is likely to make much money. Brick and mortar book stores don't make money anymore, and I know a guy who owns two resteraunts and a micro-brewery. He works 70-80 hours a week, owns a small one-bedroom house and drives a beat up 20-year-old pickup. So it's not that he makes zero money but definitely not wealthy. His other spending, so far, is straight up charity, so I can easily see him becoming poor again. But I could see a scene where he's working at the convenience store again and one of the girls walks in and if he helped her and she's successful now she goes up to him and says - you deserve better than this and helps him in return or if he manipulated and abused her, just shakes her head and walks back out.

Hi everyone, hope this post finds you all safe and well. Just a kind reminder to please keep the discussion on topic and please refrain from discussing other unrelated games in the game thread. Just observed some back-and-forth conversation regarding 'Isabella Chasing Shadows' in the game thread. Discussion should be strictly centered around Friends in Need.

Thanks a bunch for your cooperation
