The people who complain after they download a clearly-marked compressed version sound like they are people who are downloading it specifically so they CAN complain.{respondeing to a query as to whether SoL's compressed versions are lossy or lossless}
Lossy and in 2 years haven't had any complaints except from people who are quality junkies (which is less than 1%) and they shouldn't be the ones getting compressed versions anyway.
You can see what it says right? Blue Valentine. So the main game did not get any update just this mini episode of whatever that is right ?
I thought maybe the main game got something too oh well since i lost my pc i do not even remember which version was last, andYou can see what it says right? Blue Valentine.
Dev Update 2/17/25

Hey, hey folks! Hope you're all doing well this week!
Just to let you know where things stand, I'm currently around 320 renders for the Chapter 1 remake, and things are still moving right along. At present I'm mostly working on stuff set inside the convenience store, with Nicki, Guy/MC, and Brent. While this scene largely mirrors the original version of Chapter 1, I also added a little something to it, so it doesn't just feel like a tired retread. I really don't want this whole exercise to feel like a shot-for-shot remake with slightly nicer renders, so I'm trying to add a few twist and turns that weren't there originally. Hopefully, that'll make it feel fresh and exciting for you longtime supporters.
To that end, you can see a new scene depicted in the images attached to this post, featuring the man who convinced our hero to sink his life savings into cryptocurrency -- Kobalt! Every cryptobro cliche rolled into one, this guy is a natural chameleon who adopts whichever persona best serves his interests. So, we get to see two very different versions of this dude inside a very small window of time -- and they both suck! But, I'm super happy I got to make my very own clickbait thumbnail, just for this little sequence. :'D
Moving along, over the weekend I posted an all-new mini-sode, free to everyone. Most folks seemed to really dig it, which is always very gratifying. Starring Spicy Sapphire, this little game puts the player in the role of an anonymous viewer of her stream, with the ability to influence the narrative to a small degree. I'll make sure this little mini-sode (along with the one starring Alex) are inserted into the actual game, with the next release.
On the subject of mini-sodes: Up until now, every mini-sode I've done has been a little bonus release for a holiday (April Fool's for Brent, Halloween for Alex, and now Valentine's Day for Sapphire), but I don't plan for this to be the case forever. Once I've finished the Chapter 1 remake, and Chapter 11 is in the can, I'm planning to put out some mini-sodes that'll be tier-locked for patrons, before being made available to the public, just like normal releases.
Finally, on the advice of a supporter, I've been experimenting with AI audio to over-dub my voice on some of the Daz tutorials I did. I need to play with the editing a bit, but I'm hoping this will mean I can give you folks even more content here.
I'll leave you with that, today! As always, take care of yourselves and thank you for your support!
He took a month off and thats when he wrote this one, in his free time. I as well don't like specials/holiday events, since I much prefer the themes be used in the main game timeline when is appropriate, but also beacuse 99% of the times its done by devs that are stuck and don't know where to take the plot in the main game and are just stalling, clearly not the case for this game.More curious than really ranting, and not specific to "Friends in Need", but why do devs do those weird X-mas, Halloween or whatever events and holidays ? Or rather i get it , i just wonder why are they so often a separate download and standalone ? Just include them in the main game in that update. It's not as if the people that dislike them, will suddenly feel different, if made into a separate thing imho
not a proper update that is coming around March I thinkSo is this a proper update or just a valentine special?
Ridiculous update.
wasn't an update.... just something that was made for fun during his break.ffs I was excited for a split second until I seen "[Mini-Sode: Blue Valentine]" Why do devs waste time with these garbage seasonal throwaway updates?
I'm somewhat wondering over why devs, don't just try to include them as a regular update, especially if or when the goal is to stall for time... or even when it isn't. Maybe i missed some player-base rioting over the mere idea and it became common across games to not do that . Again just curious and find it odd.He took a month off and thats when he wrote this one, in his free time. This game is perfect from a branching perspective. It has so many unique dialogue options you'll never get to see all of them unless you do like 20 plays. How much branching is there in this one? Including the patch content. I usually like to have a save for each route, but sometimes too many routes gets a bit much.
I think he said he might include part of what he did for chapter 11 when I asked him when he said he did make some progress on the next update during his break. So I just read he's doing a remake of chapter 1, is more planned?
Just like the other "minisodes" made earlier, this one will be included in the main game. So you can consider it a regular update, just delivered separately at the moment.I'm somewhat wondering over why devs, don't just try to include them as a regular update
You just found out why he cries.
