I guess that's the main complaint people have been making. That the Remake enhances the good guy path, but diminishes the evil path. Are they wrong?
depends on your pov. From what I read ( I haven't played it ) I prefer the new Dark path over the old. Since I never liked it when they try to give a MC justification for doing terrible things for the sake of revenge or punishment. I rather he is just an evil bastard if you are going to play that way without trying to justify it which is what the dark path felt like besides the old ch 1 Nicki scene to me.

I don't really care about the dark path anyway so I'm good :ROFLMAO:

Yeah I might just wait until I read the MC gets killed or arrested or something before I play it again cause that is the only reason for me to play that path tbh. Other than the 1 Ashe save I got but I don't go full in on the Dark Side on that 1 just 1 time to make for a rather confused Ashe and confusing MC lol. I hope that path actually leads to guy trying to redeem himself but probably won't happen.

I didn't like having to be arrogant to rape her, I mean Rapist? Sure. But Egotistical? No way.
My guy is a humble raper

I like to lure them in with kindness and then strike, They never see it coming :)

I don't think good/evil routes conflict with each other in the 1st chapter. Good Guy and Evil Guy are like two different people.
That's one of the good things about FiN, choices aren't just cosmetic.

why chapter 1 remake is separate game ?
Because of new variables added. Neon is working to integrate them all into one release.

For me the new "evil Guy" is more consistent with his behaviour around Ashe, Viola or Pepper in later chapters. Some evil creepy who can barely keep his dark impulses in check when he sees someone in a position of power inbalance to him.

idk tbh , one side of me says that the new guy makes more sense , but the other side says that the old guy was more fun

Damn, I missed out on some pretty impressive shit-flinging over the last couple of days. Without getting too bogged down in an internet fight that's already over, I'll just say that while dark Guy absolutely is evil and psycho, he is sufficiently functional about it that I don't think "he bad guy" is enough to explain away every evil thing he does, that I don't think the single option to give guy incel thoughts about Ashe is enough to establish him as that kind of psycho in the first place, and that, while it does serve as a much better motive from a writing standpoint, the original evil path is not a "realistic overreaction" for anyone who isn't a psycho, what the fuck.
I'm sure for some people, naivety is a 'core trait', but I think for most, it's more of a perspective that's tempered by experience. Lots of people can identify with it, and have learned from it, and it makes for a good character arc.
It certainly can make for a good character arc, but that's not really where the story goes, at least in the current version. This is not to say he's somehow out of character in the intro, or that the scene should be removed or reworked or anything else along those lines, just that it creates an expectation that Guy will continue to be easily influenced in the main game and/or that his story arc will examine how and why he moves away from that mindset. Right now, in the actual game neither of those things really happen. I believe the first impression the player gets should something more important to the story and/or to understanding Guy's character, though I also don't think it's a huge deal either way. You could argue that the scene where Guy gambles away his money and loses is critically important to understanding his circumstances and the overall plot, but as it's written now I think it puts a bit more emphasis on what caused him to buy into Kobalt Koin rather than the consequences of his decision (that part comes afterward).

Thats an ongoing argument that can't be resolved... some will tell you yes it do's, others will tell you no it doesn't.
So the only way for you to really know which side you consider to be correct is to play it yourself and then you can decide.
Eh, I don't want to sound too accusatory here but there seems to be a fairly consistent pattern in this thread where people who prefer the love route like the new intro and people who prefer the dark path don't.

To be fair, I've never had the stomach for the dark path (the patch isn't even enabled on my saves) and I still think the old version was better because the original Nicki was a nuanced character - someone who would at least consider exploiting her friend to get out of a very sticky situation. The new Nicki is an idealized girl whose only sin is caring too much to say no to Brent, and the MC positively adores her.

If some people prefer the new version, that's fine. We're all entitled to our own tastes. But I do have to agree with the criticism that she provides a lot less roleplaying opportunities for an MC to start down the dark path than the old version did, which is an unfortunate trade given how much development time is spent on the dark paths.

While not getting into if A or B is better. Honestly main reason for me to enable the dark path even tho I don't really play it like normal dark path is enjoyers when I do play it which is rarely ever , is for the roleplay incest I find that alot hotter than most incest games.

I have no problems with how Guy origin is portrayed in the Remake. If anything the new Guy is more in tune with the character description. He's been always described as nerd or otaku but in the OG Chapter 1 it was not that obvious. The remake has a better starting point because the game will show how he goes from a kind of loser to a pillar of the community (at least in the good Guy path).
I agree with this observation, just not really with the conclusion :v Although that's very much "horses for courses" thing, so that's fine. Because the OG Ch.1 had only brief mention of Guy's initial state, it also had some more leeway in how you could picture him for yourself. But now that you have it rendered in painful detail, it's both kind of "wow, i knew he's supposed to be a loser but i didn't think he'd be this bad" and also a little harder to buy that just a few weeks of some random coaching and a fat wallet magically turned this guy into eloquent and self-assured pillar of the community who not only apparently developed brand new skills but also got over his decades-old shortcomings with little to no trace left.

Again, this update changes nothing about how I saw Nicky - only adds extra detail. Even in the first one, regardless of what Brent thought, or how he had her dress - she was a friend, in a desperate situation, looking for help. Does she make some bad choices? Yep. But like a lot of people with no money, I don't think she saw a lot of open doorways. The saddest thing about Nicky's story to me, was that she was too proud and/or embarrassed to come right back to Guy.

you haven't seen anything yet and it's a much better improvement compared to the old ch 1 imo. Wait until chapter 3 if you dislike her she made alot worst decsions.

To be fair, i think there's a bit about Nicki's "detailization" that's kind of new, or at least it shifts things around a bit -- namely, you can get outright declaration/backstory from her that Nicki had hots for Guy's the entire time and repeatedly made moves on him before throwing in a towel. This wasn't really apparent previously, with even the good path making it seem more like it's Guy's actions/player's decisions in the prologue that made Nicki view his as perhaps more than friend.

I never saw anything Nicky did as an opening to the dark path for guy. I think part of it is that I grew up poor. My friends where mostly poor, from single parent households or foster kids. I had a friend whose father was only in town a few days a month because of work (don’t know what he did) but she would hide at my house when he was home. So I kind of grew up with ‘you look out for your people’ as a set-in-stone value. When you're poor, your people are your wealth. I also knew people who made bad decisions (or desperate decisions), got in some trouble, and who got into some bad relationships. If Nicky was my friend, and we worked at the same place and I (basically by luck) got fabulously wealthy, and she didn’t – she could have had $20k with a text message. I wouldn’t even ask what it was for until it was in her hands.

So, no judgement if you take the dark path – if that’s what you’re into. I mean people do, in the real world, all the time. But, I tend to self-immerse in these things more than I should and no way would I ever go that route with someone I cared about – even if she fucked up again and had to come back for more. The only things I would have done differently is a) I wouldn’t have ghosted her, I would have talked to her as soon as I could and offered to help her out (‘need a new place? Want to go back to school? … that kind of stuff.) And when I didn’t hear from her after, I would have checked on her – even if I had to hire a private detective to find her.
