Incorrect, it's a futa if the artist says it's a futa, since futanari is a made up "gender". Futa does not equal hermaphrodite no matter what you say.

I'd tell you that 'shit' and 'gold nugget' are things that are very clearly defined that everyone can agree is either 'shit' or a 'gold nugget'. The same can not be said about futanari, as it solely exists in an artistic medium that has been interpreted in different ways by various differing artists with their own definition of what a futanari really is.

Sigh, yes it does. People have just adopted it incorrectly as a general term because of a lack of attention to detail, or maybe they just don't care.
Just like the word "Hentai" literally means pervert in japanese but else where its anime porn. People misuse words all the time. and sometimes it sticks. It is no less annoying to see however. That's why " irregardless " is now a fucking word since February of this year. We even have words that are the opposite of themselves.(contronyms) It's no surprise when people get confused because this stuff keeps happening.
Now, ofc these futanari depictions are a perfect fantasy/exaggerations of what actually exists in real life but that is nothing new when it comes to porn.
